Yeah meddler91, I see what you mean. Like I said, the counter-moving gimmick in Standard isn't very good anymore ever since Bioshift rotated out.

I'm currently running Servant of the Scale and wondering if running it along side Evolutionary Leap would be a nice way to avoid him being exiled and dropping counters on other creatures. Would that maybe be a option you could use?
August 26, 2015 11:45 a.m.
AndWelcomeToTheJam, I agree, moving counters isn't going to win you games on the regular, but its not bad. Mostly the Quartermasters is good because it triggers Avatar of the Resolute's enter the battlefield effect and gets flying from Abzan Falconer. With that said though, I don't see a place for the Quartermasters in meddler91's deck. I think the creature selection is very strong.

darleen I see what you are saying on the tapped lands. It hasn't been a huge nuisance but it has happened where I desperately needed one more land that turn and I draw a tapped land. I plan to pick up one more Windswept Heath before the weekend and Temple of Plenty is phasing out Oct. 2 so I might just remove them and get used to playing without them, although I do like scry better than gaining one life...
devinwr85 I am still 50/50 on main decking Evolutionary Leap. It might just be bad luck but every time I play it in main I never use it when it's on the battlefield but then when I don't main it I could definitely use it, like when somebody exiles a Hangarback Walker or Servant of the Scale.

This is the first deck I ever made (only been playing Magic for a few months), and it is quite similar. I also used to run Salt Road Quartermasters and did find them useful, although I recently subbed them out for Citadel Castellan. I find it quite useful for applying pressure and it dodges Ultimate Price. I would also recommend Scale Blessing as a high powered, instant speed win-con (if a Managorger Hydra is the one receiving the bolster, it gets counters added 3 times). All in all a really cool deck!

meddler91 we will be getting a new type of Rare Land with BFZ.
Hopefully it's something worth replacing your tap Lands with.

Argeaux I hope so! I keep hearing enemy colors so that wouldn't be green white. But those are just rumors so we'll see soon!

You should run Gleam of Authority beast of a card effectively doubles u board and acts as a quick pump mid combat with vigilance and put this on a den protector or avatar with a mana gorger or hangar back walker and watch the dmg go through

Watching the spoilers closely for BFZ. I just saw Retreat to Kazandu and that definitely sounds like a card that could go well in my deck! syandell86 and devinwr85 have you seen this yet? Also, Canopy Vista as well. Will definitely run four of those!

I did see that definitely a must try running along side Hardened Scales seems fun and the Oran-reef hydra is super insane as well if any of us end up going for a mid range type counter deck or mono green hydra counters. The new dual lands are perfect for us two color decks.

Yeah, I already decided on Canopy Vista as a 4 of even though it's already @ ~$8.meddler91, I haven't seen the other. I'll try and find it.

devinwr85 & meddler91, that is going to be great along side Hardened Scales.

devinwr85 Yeah, the Hydra looks good, but expensive too. Was it 5 or 6 mana?
August 30, 2015 7:28 p.m.
its a 6 drop but if in mono green counters with mana ramp creatures shouldn't be too hard

syandell86 says... #17
Yeah. We'll see what kind of ramp we get. Then we can just go mono-green Hardened Scales Stompy!

meddler91 Did you replace the Temple with Blossoming Sands until rotation for the new land?
August 30, 2015 8:13 p.m.
syandell86 yeah, I'm playing with Temple of Plenty though until rotation. I like scry better. I just wanted my list on here to be 100% post-rotation playable so I put gain life lands instead. Kinda silly. I will be using Canopy Vista for sure, though! They will actually probably replace Blossoming Sands and the rest will be my 4 fetch lands and then just basic lands.
August 30, 2015 8:59 p.m.
Alright, it's done. I just pre-ordered 4x Canopy Vistas. I bet they go up to about 15 or so after release at a local store so that will cover shipping cost.

meddler91 Where did you order them from? tcgplayer? The place I normally order from was already "pre-soldout."And yeah, that'll be my mana base as well.
August 30, 2015 9:22 p.m.
syandell86 starcitygames.com has like 28 left last I checked. They are 9.99.
August 30, 2015 9:24 p.m. Edited.
I would consider Ajani, Mentor of Heroes as a 1 of until he rotates, should be a bomb in this deck, both of his +abilities are great in the drawn out games that could take place.

meddler91 How often do you get to flip Hidden Dragonslayer?
AndWelcomeToTheJam says... #1
It's true that Quartermasters isn't Legendary-limited, but it is limited to how many counters it can move. Another reason to pick Derka-durr the Adamant is that with a single Hardened Scales in play, it can survive Languish, a popular removal spell that Quartermasters can't live through without at least 2 Scales.
