For Tainted Pact , there are enough Swamp substitutes. Instead of 9 Swamps and 1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, you can run the following:
1x Swamp
1x Snow-Covered Swamp
1x Cabal Pit
1x Ifnir Deadlands
1x Shizo, Death's Storehouse
1x Tomb of Urami
1x Urborg
1x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
1x Vault of Whispers
1x Gemstone Caverns or Gemstone Mine

Of course, most of these are worse than swamps, but they turn Tainted Pact on

DrLama, while you do have good suggestions for keeping our black mana intact, the Swamp-type lands are very important for Lake of the Dead , which allows for some of our fastest wins. If you don't play Lake, then it's probably worth switching up the mana base for, but I think Lake is too important to cut all those Swamps.

Tainted Pact is a more obvious cut over messing our mana base. I'd rather have Insidious Dreams as a budget option over it.

Hi Clay, hope you're feeling better. Noticed you cut Luxury Suite for a swamp, just wondering why you run Mana Confluence/City of Brass over Luxury Suite as this seems like the better option overall?

Hey Ten. The cut actually went the other way. Luxury Suite was added, Swamp was removed.

I like the list. Rakdos decks seem to be making a comeback recently. I'm curious if the new card The Cauldron of Eternity would be good to include. It seems like there's a lot of ways to combo off with Grenzo and The Cauldron.

Very good primer and still a great list. I'm just getting the deck now, so I'm new to this, but I noticed that there are some improved lines using Dockside Extortionist:

In the Conscript-less pile, if our opponents have at least 4 artifacts out, we can replace Kiki+Priest by Dockside and free up a slot in the pile (e.g. for a ritual at the top).

In the Kiki-less pile we can similarly replace pieces with Dockside to either make space for another card on top or reduce overall cost. If our opponents have at least 4 artifacts out, we can replace one of the priests with dockside so the combo only costs BBB2. If they have 5 artifacts, we can replace both priests with dockside and can put a ritual on top.

If our opponents have a bunch of artifacts, it seems also viable to just sub dockside into one of the piles to get some extra mana for interaction e.g. defense grid.

I also noticed that there is an easy combo line with Dockside, if we draw both Kiki and Conscripts: If our opponents have at least 5 artifacts (still pretty reasonable) we can just Dockside into Kiki, copying Dockside into Conscripts to hardcast the combo for 2 mana initial cost. This enables a few more t2 victories and makes hands which are kinda bricked by the combo pieces much better.

Arcane Signet is a strict upgrade over Fellwar Stone . I’ve also been trying to run Urborg , Vault of Whispers , Cabal Pit , etc. and other come into play black lands plus 1 snow covered swamp to make tainted pack for sure get what you need. I also like Fire Covenant and Phyrexian Purge over Toxic Deluge . They both dodge your Grenzo and kill problematic hate bears. They both imprint on chrome mox for red and black which comes up a bit when it’s a race to combo.

to support more this variations Imperial Recruiter is sugar .
