Grenzo Goblin Prison Break

Commander / EDH BR (Rakdos) Goblins

The idea of this deck is to incorporate the strengths of goblin tribal with the card advantage of the commander Grenzo, Dungeon Warden. Since most goblin cards are 1/1 to 3/3 you only need to bring Grenzo out as a 3/3 for full effect. The tribal buffs will also strengthen Grenzo further, which makes him cheaper to recast after removals.

Grenzo, Dungeon Warden can also take advantage of cards that put other cards on the bottom of your library. Canal Dredger, Junktroller, and Epitaph Golem allow you to move creatures from your graveyard onto the bottom of your library, which allows recursion from Grenzo, Dungeon Warden (especially useful if you can sac a goblin with an ETB effect and replay them). Tel-Jilad Stylus can be used similarly to other sac outlets to get recursion from creatures that would have otherwise been removed from the battlefield. From testing the deck I can safely say the Tel-Jilad Stylus is one of the strongest cards in this build.

Krenko, Mob Boss is the biggest win condition in the deck. Luckily there's Boggart Harbinger, Goblin Matron, Moggcatcher and Goblin Recruiter to try and get him onto the battlefield. There's also Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, Goblin Motivator, Goblin Chieftain, and Goblin Warchief to provide haste, which allows Krenko to activate his ability on the turn he enters.

The shroud/hexproof artifacts are useful to protect Grenzo until you are ready to play Krenko. Similarly, Imp's Mischief is in the deck to protect your combo pieces from counterspells or targeted removal.

Most of Grenzo's victories will come from the "go wide" strategy of getting a lot of goblins on the field. There are Boggart Shenanigans, Goblin Bombardment, Impact Tremors, and Shared Animosity to take advantage of a hoard of goblins. Boggart Shenanigans can also be tutored out because it has the goblin creature type.

Special shout out to Mad Auntie who is an absolute powerhouse. Giving all goblins +1/+1 and also having the ability to save another goblin from death. This means that if anyone wants to deal with a creature you control, they need to deal with Mad Auntie first.

Overall I've had a very fun time running this deck in a 4 player kitchen table setting.
