                                  -My Exp-

I am new to magic but play magic at a pretty competitive magic area. The players I have played with have helped me improve greatly in play and I have to thank the many individuals who gave me advice of how I was building my deck.

                                 -About the Deck-

The very first pack I opened was a mythic rare Grimgrin, Corpse born. I was so excited that I got a mythic rare in my very first rip. Now at the time I did not know that this card was highly underplayed in standard. When I ripped my second pack i got another Grimgrin. I had gotten twelve packs and I decided I would rip through the rest. To my surprise on my tenth pack i ripped a third Grimgrin. From that moment I have dedicated a lot of my time to making a Grimgrin deck in standard that could keep up with other standard decks. For the most part I got to a grinding point where it would break just turns before I could get it going. I tried the diregraf captains I tried the diregraf zombies. The deck would always brake right before it was able prosper.

                                      -Gatecrash-

In the last day two weeks I have spent a lot of time rotating through cards and for the first time I was able to get to the point where I was able to beat on my opponents and play a nasty offense that got most decks I had trouble with on the edge. Here is the change that I think made all the difference.

1. Extort- Has allowed my deck the ability to constantly grab free health and do damage to my opponents. The thing that makes this so essential to the deck is that your gravecrawler will return to the field as a spell and will trigger the extort.

2. Shock Lands- This a huge thing in my opinion. First it brings another blue/black land that is not a core set B/U. The other big thing is if i get Liliana i can fetch the land with her first ability. Watery Grave counts as a swamp when using mutilate. The addition of Watery grave allowed me to drop 1-2 land and not get punished for it.

                                  -My Plans-

I plan to ride this deck out for as long as it remains standard (October). I will be updating this site with things that i find interesting in the terms of prices rising or decreasing that effects my deck. Every time I play in a competitive standard tournament I will post my findings and what effected my deck
