I have made som minor adjustmets to the mana base, as suggested. I don't own an River of Tears yet, but when I acquire one it will replace Salt Marsh.

It would be nice if my zombies had some evasion, so I'm considering adding Filth or Wonder to the deck.

Even with all my sac outlets, I am reluctant to add Living Death or Patriarch's Bidding to the deck. In most cases my graveyard is likely to be less powerfull than my opponents - remember, this is mainly a combo deck. Rise of the Dark Realms could find its way into the deck, but what would you replace for it?

I would take out the Dark Prophecy for Rise of the Dark Realms. Sure you can draw cards, but you don't have a choice when a creature dies. Plus, you already have Necropotence, Rhystic Study, and Phyrexian Arena, so you don't have any problem drawing in the deck.

Also, I might also add in Zombie Infestation if you're going with a reanimator feel. Just discard the fatties then just bring them back. Grimoire of the Dead might be good in here also.

@SirFowler I did not consider Grimoire of the Dead. In my current configuration I can't really afford it (3 discards) and it is both slow and easy to remove before the payoff, but it is a pretty interesting card.

I'll replace the Dark Prophecy for a Rise of the Dark Realms.

Cheers

@illumfolly thank you for the suggestions.

I find Living Death way too situational, even in a deck with plenty of sac outlets.

Patriarch's Bidding has been in the deck, but was cut when I focused on the combo aspect. There has been games where I could have used it. What would you replace to make room for it?

Cheers

Thank you for this decklist! I've been trying to make a good Grimgrin deck, but my attempts have fallen flat thus far. I am missing a lot of the money cards here, but I already own several of them. I'll see if it's in the budget to finally pick up a few key zombie cards - without copying your build too much, of course.

One thing I really want to do with my Grimgrin deck is include both Ghoulcaller Gisa and Stitcher Geralf - mostly for flavor, but I think their abilities could be deadly! What would you recommend to combo them with, to get the most out of them? I was originally going for a zombie swarm angle, but I could never get enough tokens out fast enough. The dream was to cast Army of the Damned and go nuts, and I still want to use that card, but I couldn't survive long enough to draw and cast it.

Definitely try Champion of Stray Souls.

I personally love running Filth + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

Sort of a shame that from what I can see in the deck, Rooftop Storm + Sedraxis Alchemist combo doesn't do anything. (Alchemist bounces itself infinitely)

the Diregraf Captain + Gravecrawler + Rooftop Storm combo doesnt just knock out one opponent, it kills them all one after another. nice deck, +1, i feel you need more tutors for your combo's and maybe a Dragonlord Silumgar for control.

Another way to recur any of your combo pieces, use Academy Ruins with/on Codex Shredder. I don't know about your play group or if you play in tournaments often, but my play group doesn't do land destruction very often, so Academy Ruins will stay. Plus Codex Shredder becomes another target for Entomb. Kind of expensive, mana wise. But it will recur ANY combo piece whenever you need it, provided someone doesn't exile them.

A few combos that I've found while playing with Grimgrin...

Nim Deathmantle + Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Ashnod's Altar+ Gray Merchant of Asphodel Infinite Grey Merchant triggers.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Zombie Master Unblockable zombies

Cloudstone Curio + Noxious Ghoul + other zombie = negative counters on all non zombies. This is good for things like Avacyn, Angel of Hope or Sigarda, Host of Herons.

Seriously find room for Noxious Ghoul.

Also need Argentum Armor and/or Nevinyrral's Disk for enchantment/artifact removal. Not many options in U/B for this, but you should have something.

Hi all, thank you for the feedback.

I know I've been quiet on the deck for a while, and that is because I'm considering upping it's power level a bit, at the cost of some zombie flavor (basically adding more control elements to protect my combos, at the cost of some Zombies - maybe even some Lords).

@DonnyLurch Thank you for the kind words. You can copy all you want, if you like. I also had both Stitcher Geralf and Ghoulcaller Gisa in the deck to begin with, but they were cut for combo cards. I'd recommend that you go with Rings of Brighthearth if you choose that road, and that you keep all Lords in the deck. Please let me know what you end up with.

@bobtoll Why should I add Champion of Stray Souls - his ability is really expensive? My main combo card (Gravecrawler) allready has recursion :)

@HarrisonIsHarry: Filth is awesome! I'm not sure it will be good, if I lower the creature count.

@zerowner Yeah, I don't think I have any way to abuse it as is.

@horatio13 True - it kills all, just one by one :) I agree on the tutor part - at least a Vampiric Tutor!

@tessi9311 It is a good combo, but it is a bit unlikely to draw, and I don't think I'd save a tutor for it. This is partly due to the fact that I'm often up aginst land destruction, and artifact hate is very common.

@Swarthy1 I had not noticed that combo - I'll add it to the list:)

I see your point on Noxious Ghoul and it makes sense to find room for it. I'll think about it. There is always someone playing a Avacyn, Angel of Hope at the table.

Argentum Armor is amazing, but I'm not sure its right for this dec. Agin, I'll think about it!

Cheers

I forgot to mention Cyclonic Rift. Way too useful of a card to not run it. Clear the board for a zombie hoard win, remove pesky things, save your ass when things are going bad.

Surprised nobody mentioned Vela the Night-Clad as another combo engine!! Another one I'm really surprised nobody talked about is Corpse Connoisseur. Also Buried Alive to get Gravecrawler. Finally, every deck supporting black needs to be running Vampiric Tutor!!

Cool deck man, my version of UB zombies was running Wrexial as commander since day 1 because I always found Grimgrin too clunky, but with all these combos he definitely proves that he deserves the spot!! +1!

Forgot to say: How about these other Zombies of Mass Destruction combos :D !! Noxious Ghoul + Army of the Damned or Rite of Replication or Empty the Pits.

Blood Artist also combos with all the gravecrawler shenanigans. Have you considered it?

Is there a version of this deck that doesn't contain a bulls-eye painted on my forehead?

Undead Alchemist combos with your commander. Sort of. Fun card regardless. Works better with Phenax, God of Deception.

Conspiracy/Xenograft on their own help with the Zombie Tribal theme, though you can name Human with Xathrid Necromancer to get infinite sac triggers for Grimgrin.

Why are you running Risen executioner? I understand he's a lord, but he's just bad man. You're better of running Sakashima the imposter, phyrexian metamorph or clever impersonator imo.

First of all, thanks for the deck. I liked it a lot and it helped me a lot to build my own Grimgrin deck.

As you have a lot of combo in your deck, have you considered adding Brain Freeze, Tendrils of Agony, and Bitter Ordeal ?

Gravecrawler+ Phyrexian Altar gives you infinite storm (which can be used with Tendrils of Agony and Brain Freeze), as well as infinite gravestorm (which can be used with Bitter Ordeal)
