look into Increasing Confusion , if you get the infinate combo effect its an instant win, even if they counter you can flashback.

Would if be a good Idea to add Xathrid Gorgon to this deck?

To me, Xathrid Gorgon is an interesting choice at first glance. It provides you with the ability to slow down, or completely stop, any threats from your opponent. However, looking at it closer, it will end up being the highest cost card in your deck, and if you are up against aggro, then by the time you are dropping it, you are likely already behind the curve.
It can only take out 1 creature per turn, unless paired with the Galvanic Alchemist and you have lots of mana available. If this is the case, then you are lacking in any of your Mill cards, meaning you'd likely be better off with something like Increasing Ambition or Diabolic Revelation to simply go get your win-con.
Aside from that, you don't really get any extra utility out of her. Since every creature you control will already have Defender (aside from the Galvanic Alchemist ), you are only going to get the control aspect on your opponent.
I think if you want to check it out, then run a singleton, or 2x at most.. otherwise, I don't really see this as being overly useful for you.

@ScottieC37 Thanks for the insight. I know i should be able to drop her by turn 4, but that is kind of late game to counting on her reliably. I might drop the one i have in to see how she works in the deck as whole.

I like the idea of this build, it's fun to build around a unique card like Doorkeeper . Since I was unable to think of any ways to somehow ensure you could always get your Doorkeeper and/or Curse of the Bloody Tome , the only possible idea I could think of to help without really altering things would be to mainboard your Undead Alchemist and/or finding a spot to put your Jace, Memory Adept in. +1 for a creative build idea :)

That was actually my first thought, to look for tutors, but when I saw how high the mana was on what's available in standard I just wasn't sure if you'd even want to use them.

Axebane Guardian produces lots of mana in this deck. I can easily get out 5-7 mana a turn by turn 4 utilizing his ability in this deck.

personally i run U/G defender deck like this. Utilize cards like the galvanic alchemist to create unlimited mana with Axebane guardian. You can then use cards like increasing confusion and Sands of Delirium . Door to Nothingness is fun, as well as any high creature such as Worldspine Wurm
I have not found a way to counter large groups of creatures, other than counters [ the 2 drop card " counter target creature", who's name eludes me] would work well. Cyclonic Rift comes to mind for token decks, and temporary threat removal
+1 Fog Bank
-2 curse of the bloody tomb . too slow.
you may want to think about removing black alltogether, or just having golgari guildgates and your Axebane Guardian to produce black mana.

@chris10188 Thanks for the advice. Cyclonic Rift makes for great board clearing to let my attackers through. That would be really nasty if I can get a Trepanation Blade for my deck as well.
I'm looking at adding Duress and Appetite for Brains for early game removal with Deathrite Shaman .

Hmm, i am using a only blue mill deck myself but if you are going for defenders i do miss Hover Barrier . 0/6 flying defender for only 3 mana.
And as for milling cards :
Dream Twist
Thought Scour
Chronic Flooding
Dreadwaters
Mind Sculpt
And as for Big cards u want to counter with miracle cost such as entreating the angels and Bonfire when they tapp all mana, This little fellow comes in handy :
card:Judge's Familiar

@WoopWoop: card:Judge's Familiar doesn't really do much of anything against X spells, since your opponent would just pay 1 less mana when casting it. And a Miracled Entreat the Angels for 5 is really no different than one for 6.

If you are experiencing a lot of mana left over at the end of your turns, i suggest adding Sands of Delirium .
