The latest game Affinity, Eldrazi, and this deck SHOULD take, is turn 5.

Also how do you feel about Thought Courier in place of see beyond?
March 6, 2016 11:15 p.m.
@ Fieldsweeper, again Abrupt Decay. If the opponent gets more redundancey than I do, then they might win, if I get more redundancy then I win at that point. I am more likely to draw more cards than most other decks in modern however. And as for Thought Courier yes I wouldn't mind a single Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
Flip in See Beyond's place, it's just that See Beyond gets me two cards right away, and Vryn's Prod is something I would be more more likely to side in for resilience, just like the 1x Snapcaster Mage in SB.
If we ever get a 1 -drop Merfolk Looter-type card, I would rather run that than even run Vryn's Prodigy.
@zZAZz Thanks :D Gory-bros for life lol

what do you usually take out and put in during any given game? like against what decks do you take x out and put in?
March 7, 2016 8:11 p.m.
Depends very specifically on the match up and what cards are seen out of game 1, if any. There are plenty of times, I don't actually side anything, at least more than I care to admit.

Don't you think 16 lands is a bit low? seems like some consistancy issues, 18 i think is amin, maybe 17 with the guides, especially with the limited use gemstone

Thoughts on 4x Tormenting Voice in place of 4x Night's Whisper?
or 2 and 2?
March 8, 2016 5:03 a.m.

Sorry wish you could edit, with tormenting voice you discard the card as a cost, so it's cant be countered so even if u cant draw a card u got grisel or enraged in the graveyard.

You can pay $5 for premium and then you can edit on the fly.

I did not know that, I will def do that. Today I went 3-1 the second game of the 2nd match I had to mull to 4 so kind of burned me, game three he had 2 answeres two turns in a row. exiled my graveyard twice, there was 1 faithless, 2 grisel and 1 enraged.
not to bad for the first time playing it in paper. (also I still need one through the breach so my replacement card was Tormenting Voice which i was able to play once.
One thing I tried that I did in my dredge days, is kept a hand on the play just to discard grisel and skip my land drop.

I've done that on the draw as well, although I prefer not to.
but t1 discard Griselbrand, then t2 Swamp, Exile SSG and cast Goryo's works just as well as it always has.

So I have been seeing lots of land issues? don't you think it could use at least 2 more lands? possibly 3 or 4? almost in place of see beyond, git probe and possibly one pact or metamorphose? or night's whipser

well i would rather see a few more lands, and some serum visions instead, with some more blue support. but that is just me. then it makes pact easier if need be before going off.
4 serum visions can replace the night's whisper. maybe leaving 2 for something else.
git probe can be given up along with see beyond for 2 more lands, with blue in them.
I will try something like that out and see how it goes, the serum visions is nice because you get to see three cards, and 2 of which you can keep in library instead of having to discard like fiathless, etc.

So recently I built this deck as well, and I found that Goryo's strategy is extremely similar to Ad Nauseam. I decided to insert 1 laboratory maniac and 1 lightning storm mainboard. They've both been great for me, and from experience, it's always a good idea to diversify your threats as much as possible. Also, necrotic ooze is a great sideboard, or even mainboard card. I love the direction you have taken this archetype though.

pnk_rkr what did you take out to put those in? i swapped a See Beyond for a Merfolk Looter maybe take out 2 night's whisper, or something?
March 14, 2016 8:21 a.m.
Fieldsweeper says... #23
I think a night's whisper for the merfolk looter is better, the see beyond is still nice to protect something but it is after all, only a sorcery so prob is not that good at doing that unless you know you are about to be thought seized or thought-knot seer

Well I have been playing this deck non stop 3 matches a week, Tuesday, FNM tounrey, and sunday tourney. and for the last month its super inconsistent. played several different ways, Idk how you go 5-0 all the time, best I have done is 4-1 once, the rest is sometimes 3-2 usually 2-3 or 1-4 one time even 0-5, so not sure what you do differently though.
a reason this isnt a top tier deck, its WAAY too inconsistent

Well I decided to remove all but two nights whispers and put in 4 contingency plans, in place of serum and sleight of hand. so far been much better, also added 3 city of brass in place of the sulfurous springs. makes using the blue easier, for counters as well.
been MUCH more constant.

Chalice of the Void on 2 is definitely something I do not want to play against. Pithing Needle is also a card that can really play with how I have to change how I win.
Abrupt Decay deals with both, late game Pact of Negation, or a greedy play with Spell Pierce in my hand. I could run something like Reclamation Sage otherwise.
Otherwise, again, Through the Breach plays around some of that too. You can also splice Goryo's onto Shoal to get around Chalice however, then an opponent Needling Goryo's so I can't splice, would also be a possibility.
I have only tested against Eldrazi 3 times, all of them colorless, and won 2 and lost 1.
Just because people do ask, if a card in the deck needed to be banned, it would be Shoal. It gives most of the variants of the deck the most consistency, and mine included. It's much more glass-cannon again, otherwise, which could be Soul Spike or trying for legendary cross-over of red-black, like Nicol Bolas.
