I love the idea of Thought-Knot Seer. I'd have to see how exactlyTo adjust the mana for him, though. Kozilek's Return is also great, and perhaps there's room for a big Eldrazi singleton?
February 4, 2016 1:31 a.m.
Could replace Wurmcoil Engine with an Eldrazi in side, and replace something like Drown in Sorrow or Anger of the Gods with Kozilek's Return?
February 4, 2016 1:36 a.m.
Maybe make the eldrazi Kozilek, Butcher of Truth. It's easier to cast, gives you card advantage to force more draw and annihilator 4 is rough in modern. It'll be hard to get to that point though. Also, if you do add Thought-Knot Seer, you'll need something like Fire-Lit Thicket for colorless mana generation.
February 4, 2016 1:44 a.m.
Took your suggestions and added a copy of Kozilek, Butcher of Truth + 3 copies of Kozilek's Return to sideboard. Added 4 copies of Fire-Lit Thicket + 2 copies of Thought-Knot Seer to mainboard.
February 4, 2016 2:18 p.m.
Fire-Lit Thicket was an example. If you're going true modern, probably better, if you can afford them, to grab Grove of the Burnwillows. Also why Void Grafter? Do you really need the body? If you don't, consider Vines of Vastwood. G for hexproof. GG for hexproof and +4/+4. I'll try to think of a better engine than tapping and untapping that dude. I mean, the cheapest thing I can think of is Tumble Magnet to tap it without attack. OR like I said before with the Vines of Vastwood. You could swing. They'll chump block to kill and BOOM IT'S A 5/8! I'll ask my friends who runs Nekuzar as a commander cards that might be modern legal.
February 4, 2016 2:37 p.m.
What's to stop them from memoriciding your main win condition? Like why isn't that card run in any deck that runs black with all the combo decks out there?
February 4, 2016 2:45 p.m.
I picked Void Grafter because I was looking for hexproof, didn't think about Vines of Vastwood basically being hexproof. I do have a question about Vines of Vastwood though. If say Fate Unraveler is targeted by the opponent in some way, does casting Vines of Vastwood as a response actually make Fate Unraveler an illegal target like a Flashed Void Grafter would? Or since it's not actually providing the ability Hexproof (but instead similar wording) would the Vines of Vastwood fizzle and the targeting spelling still resolve? That's my only concern there.
And yeah, I'm actually thinking of upping the number of Memoricide's in the side, possibly main boarding it because it's so good. If someone were to have Memoricide in their side and bring it in against me, my response would be trying to Memoricide their Memoricide or completely flip to artifacts or the Eldrazi build as the win con in side. If they do Memoricide my Fate Unraveler (and perhaps its game one or two and I didn't know they had it) then my win conditions through draw ping are Nekusar, the Mindrazer + Spiteful Visions, and my other options are using Disciple of Deceit + Fatestitcher to grab Desecration Demon then combo Fatestitcher + Desecration Demon.
Oh here's another thought, I'm not actually sure about this but would Spellskite beat a Memoricide?
February 4, 2016 5:03 p.m.
It would become an illegal target, thus fizzle the spell. Back when it was standard, people would use it to protect things from Lightning Bolt. Actually, it's strictly better than hexproof. You can vines their creature, making their own creatures unable to be affected their spells and abilities. Spellskite wouldn't because it isn't a legal target for Memoricide. Memoricide targets a player and names a card. The target player is the key part :/

If you had more red in the deck, I'd suggest Kederekt Parasite. It does the same thing as Fate Unraveler with the benefit of being a one drop. But then you'd have to finagle red in there. I dunno. I'll keep digging on the internet.
February 5, 2016 5:22 a.m.
I'm looking into red permenants that can benefit the deck so I can add Kederekt Parasite. Great card, thanks! Lemme know what else you find.
February 6, 2016 1:24 p.m.
Howling Mine is strictly better than Dictate of Kruphix for what you want to do. It's 2 generic and does the same thing, just without flash. So i mean i guess you could flash in dictate on their endstep of you were worried about removal and wanted to save mana for vines or a counter. Also, Temple Bell. Force draw.
February 6, 2016 1:35 p.m.
Howling Mine is too good not to add. Adding it last minute right now. Trying to find room for Temple Bell

You'd have to have consistent < C > to use it. I like it because it's cheaper. But Fatestitcher seems to have so much more utility. I just realized you changed your board to give the consistent < C >. Perhaps a split of the two? Use your best judgement.

Wow. this looks impressive! have you playtested it yet?
April 17, 2017 9:33 p.m.
lol, thats so cute that you made this (in part) because of your girlfriend xD Still trying to get mine into mtg ;)
April 17, 2017 9:35 p.m.
Thanks! I have played it, I love it. It's got a challenge against Death's Shadow but it hangs in there. My girlfriend doesn't play as much anymore, but she's really into the design, story, art, and other stuff like that and gets excited with me when a new set comes out so that's awesome :P I love that she digs MTG bc I love it so much XD

i think wheel cards could do very well here also, already in the right colors even

Some of these cards seem underpowered and could be replaced by better cards.
I would cut all the disciple of deceits and add a 4th fevered visions, 4th owl, and 2 more howling mines.
I think your main theme is not strong enough and could be better improved. Fate Unraveler would be great as a playset in place of Damnable Pact, Baral's Expertise, and the tezzerets. All of those cards are too slow for modern. The 4 vehicles can not be crewed very easily and are just not strong enough for moern so cutting those for a playset of the staple lightning bolt would be optimal.
Hope this helps :)

dolytron I do not think the wheel cards are good here. The theme is too increase the opponent's hand size and hurt them with that. It is not to make them discard because the wheels don't change hand size.
April 25, 2017 7:46 p.m.
Toil / Troubleis the one i first was thinking, but also the cards such as Browbeat,Burning Inquiry,Collective Defiance,Molten Psyche,Wheel of Fate for red and Dark Deal,Painful Lesson,Sign in Blood for black and Ancestral Vision,Compulsive Research,Wistful Thinking for blue
also Cerebral Vortex and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind feel kinda automatic to me
and mattman856 they are for added pain from Spiteful Visions and Kederekt Parasite

But that is not the main theme the deck is going for and would therefore not support the other cards synergy-wise.
April 26, 2017 7:13 p.m.
MECHANICS:The original engine was the exploitation of Fate Unraveler's triggered ability with Master of the Feast + Dictate of Kruphix and having Disciple of Deceit ensure the timely, consistent presence of Fate Unraveler on board.
The functionality of today's engine hasn't changed, the parts have been ugraded. Fate Unraveler is now Spiteful Visions, Dictate of Kruphix became Fevered Visions, and Disciple of Deceit is easily triggered by crewing Smuggler's Copter + Aethersphere Harvester. thats strait from the description its definitely the main theme the deck is going for mattman856

No Kozilek's Return because instant speed wipe isn't super useful? Plus Thought-Knot Seer fits the flavor of the deck, it Thoughtseizes and forces them to draw when it leaves and in the meantime you get a big body to keep up board pressure. I mean I recognize that you don't run any big eldrazi or means to immediately ramp them out like RG Tron does so you might not get much value out of Kozilek's Return as they will, but it's instant speed to help deal with weenies on their turn if you have the extra mana.
