  • Dreadbore = Partner deck runs Hero's Downfall so this is an addition for the same effect

  • Far / Away = good to take out multiple creatures, or else bounce one of my partner's back for "protection" or to reuse an ETB effect

  • Izzet Charm = doubles as a counterspell or even a "digger" if need be

CARD DRAW:

  • Inspiration = originally was Divination but then I saw the "target player" and thought I could have my partner draw instead of me, or else force my opponent to draw if his library is empty

  • Opportunity = as close as Grixis can get to Sphinx's Revelation

  • Jace, Architect of Thought = versatile at getting me cards or slowing down aggro based strategies. IF I can ultimate, I can pull a win con from all 4 decks to cast for free. Partner decks runs 2 so we split these

  • Ral Zarek = Basically Lightning Strike on a stick, or I can tap down a possible blocker from an opponent, or else untap one from my partner.

My brother and I took 2nd place out of 12 teams. Our only loss was in the last round vs a monoblack devotion and american control (that splashed black for Pack Rat of all things). We loss mainly due to mana screw on my part (got stuck with 3 lands and didn't have UU for counterspells), and my partner kept a questionable hand with his deck and didn't get lands until turn 5 I believe (stuck at 2).

all in all this pair performed REMARKABLY well together. I made some adjustments to help fix mana issues.

-2 Skull Rend, +1 Island +1 Duress (this added a 26th land while also keeping the hand disruption up)
