Sideboard

Here's the plan: stall the board long enough till we can get a finisher out, and get ready to become the aggressor if our opponent starts too slow. This has been built after a long testing and improved by the ideas of other members. After 10 months of running, I still have the same pleasure to play and tweak it, and hopefully it even survived the rotation!

The description will be updated later.

DISRUPTION:

  • 4x Barter in Blood: We don't have access to Supreme Verdict, but it often will result in a similar effect with all our other spot removals. 4-of to maximize the odds of opening one.

  • 2x Dreadbore: multi-purpose removal, that can be re-used with snappy to double the pain. Our answer to planeswalker, but as its at sorcery speed, I recently removed one for a Doomblade.

  • 2x Warped Physique : a replacement for Murder. Deals with most usual threats at instant speed, is easier and cheaper to cast and deals with indestructible / regenerating mobs. Can even be used on our Olivia Voldaren with a couple of counters for a shitload of damage.

  • 1x Doom Blade: slightly conditional removal, but easy to cast and at instant speed. I may increase the count to 2 or 3 depending on the meta.

  • 3x Pillar of Flame : This is coming back MD obviously to deal with Voice of Resurgence. Otherwise, its still great vs aggro, and good to take down midrange dorks, getting the path clear for a deadly BiB.

  • 2x Turn / Burn: This card may seem a bit expensive, but it's a 2-cmc instant speed removal vs aggro, and later on, deals with Thragtusk and Angel of Serenity without leaving the usual bad surprise behind. Polyvalence is key with this one. Can also be snapcasted for a surprise butt-sex block.

  • 2x Curse of Death's Hold: A nightmare for aggro, spirit tokens, Falkenrath Aristocrat... This plus Jace AoT's +1 can stall the board quite hard.

  • 2x Dissipate : Best counterspell available, gets rid of flashback spells or prevents creatures to be reanimated.

  • 2x Syncopate: it's often good to be able to counter on turn two or with 2 lands untapped later on. This brings a surprise effect as it doesn't see that much play, and will keep the opponent on his toes after game 1.

DRAW / UTILITY

  • 3x Think Twice: great card draw that keeps its power all game long. Can be cast anytime we have spare mana, helps getting our early lands, and doesn't tap us out while doing it. Later, brings us closer to our solutions or finishers.

  • 2x Forbidden Alchemy: good way to filter our deck at instant speed, and has flashback for later use.

  • 2x Jace, architect of thoughts: lets us dig into our deck, slows down aggro, neutralizes Lingering Souls and Assemble the Legion, and is its own wincon. Very underrated IMO. And combined with curse, stalls the board quite hard.

  • 3x Snapcaster Mage: Cycles the spell we need the most, bringing an aggressive body in the process. Will sometimes even be a straight 2-for-1. Works great with Turn / Burn 1st half.

FINISHERS:

  • 2x AEtherling: If this one resolves, it's only a matter of time for us to win. Impossible to remove, hits direct to the throat for up to 8 per turn, has pseudo-vigilance... And goes perfectly well with our BiB strat. The new star of the pack, sorry for you Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker !

  • 2x Olivia Voldaren: a nightmare vs aggro or midrange decks. Can steal our opponents best creature; remove the winnies like flies while getting huge in no time. She's a house, and she will be missed post rotation...

  • 4x Nephalia Drownyard: our main wincon that's pretty much inevitable as long as we manage to stay alive. And it doesn't take a spell slot, which is very convenient.

SIDE

  • 3x Rolling Temblor : Wrecks an overcommitted board, which happens often in a world of Burning-Tree Emissary . Has flashback if needed. My best bet to take the upper edge vs all-in decks.

  • 1x Tamiyo, the moon sage: Can be sided in vs control or mid range as an alternate wincon which stalls a threat in the process.

  • 1x Jace, Memory Adept: Emo Jace will come in vs control as he can easily win the game in three turns if left unchecked..

  • 2x Counterflux: Powerful CS for the control MU.

  • 2x Slaughter Game: basically will be sided in vs anything that doesn't try to kill us in 4 turns. Getting rid of their biggest threats (naming Thragtusk / Sphinx's Revelation often sounds like a winning move), and doing it again with a snappy can leave their deck with nothing but subpar spells and lands.

  • 2x Appetite for Brains: mainly used for the midrange / ramp / reanimators decks, as it exiles the chosen card and help casting a perfect Slaughter Games afterwards.

  • 2x Rakdos's Return : This spell can really punish a tapped-out control deck or a mid-range one. Can also be used as a finisher.

  • 2x Duress: another tool vs control, to be used before casting a threat, as a way to remove their counterspells or removals. Can also be sided in to get rid of annoying permanents ala Burning Earth , Assemble the Legion or Staff of Nin, as we don't have any way to get rid of those once they hit the table.

Voila! Sorry for the long reading... If you enjoyed the deck, any upvote or a comment are always welcome, and I'm open to your advice or ideas as always!

Tried to make the best use of what DGM had to offer, integrating AEtherling, Turn / Burn and Warped Physique in the list.

The first one is a BEAST, once unleashed, he wins the game singlehandedly, as he is unblockable and has pseudo vigilance, hits like a truck, is impossible to remove, and fights well with most creatures in the format.

The second is interesting as a polyvalent way to deal with resilient creatures, as it can either be used early to pop a 2-toughness guy, or later on to get rid of a Thragtusk or a Angel of Serenity. It can even do both thanks to Snapcaster Mage!

The third is amazingly powerful in a deck that never plans to empty its hand. Cheaper than Murder, no restriction like Ultimate Price, it even deals with regenerating and indestructible dudes. I'm thinking of increasing the number to 3.

Last thought is for Olivia Voldaren, as she has served well for 8 months, but I don't feel her so useful now that AEtherling is here. I may replace her by another Warped Physique and a 4th Think Twice or a 3rd Jace, architect of thoughts... Any suggestions welcome as ever, and thanks to all who contributed to make this deck what it is now !
