I think Docent of Perfection  Flip is perfect for this deck (although you don't have that many instants/sorceries to truly profit from this awesome card). Considering this deck is tribal, I'd also look at adding Door of Destinies.

NV_1980, Door of Destinies is indeed a good suggestion! Didn't even cross my mind for some reason. Any ideas what you'd cut for it, though? I feel like the list is now becoming tighter and tighter.

Docent of Perfection  Flip I also considered quite early on, but it didn't end up in the list because of the reason you already mentioned.

I'd probably cut Unspeakable Symbol for it (you don't have anything in your deck to regain the life you spend on this) or Champion of Wits (in my opinion your least useful Wizard in this deck).

Dark Confidant is perhaps the only good wizard you're missing from this deck.

Looking at this deck, there are perhaps some improvements you can make, particularly on your CMC avg. and curve. For tribal decks, draw spells are incredibly useful in case they "gas out". Wheel of Fortune, Windfall, Night's Whisper, Mystic Remora, Rhystic Study, Notion Thief, and Phyrexian Arena are good inclusions; some of them will ensure Marchesa's dethrone ability will trigger. Countermagic like Negate, Arcane Denial, and Swan Song are always useful to address trouble your opponents bring. Fire Covenant and Goblin Bombardment are also good inclusions. Cards I'd cut are high CMC spells; it's probable you'll have to cut your worst wizards if you include these suggestions (or some).

Dark Confidant might be a decent inclusion, since I don't think I have that many high CMC spells (Blasphemous Act and Insurrection).

I try to shy away from the more staple draw and counter spells, since they both synergise less with the deck's other cards and flavor, which is important (though Rhystic Study could be a flavor hit as well, I dislike playing with the card in general). I'd rather draw cards with Shadowmage Infiltrator than with his effective counterpart Phyrexian Altar, counter spells with Voidmage Prodigy instead of Counterspell and so on.

Goblin Bombardment was close to making the list despite its questionable flavor, though, now I've found more sacrifice outlets through Flesh Carver and Thoughtpicker Witch, I'm quite happy with the amount of them.

Nice deck. I just recently started my own with Marchesa but the tribe is demons instead. I found a great interaction with her if you have a sac outlet and her and all the critters you sac have +1/+1 counters you then play Apocalypse. There are some other options that are effectively the same but apoc is probably the best and all your critters come back afterwords. Also seems worth pointing out that Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip's emblem and Lifeline perform similarly to Marchesa. Personally not using Lifeline since it hugs everyone but the emblem seems worth trying to get to. Anytime you do get to it you have your commander for the rest of the game.

Thoughts on replacing Marchesa with Inalla, Archmage Ritualist ?

Enral, I thought about it a lot and came to the conclusion that the deck would just be very different. It's not only the cards that synergise with Marchesa, the Black Rose directly, but also cards like sacrifice outlets suddenly become a lot worse, or rather less synergistic and less "planned" in the deck. I'm very tempted to still make another list and switch half the cards around or so whenever I feel like playing an Inalla, Archmage Ritualist deck.

Bhaal666, the Apocalypse is pretty great actually, wonder if there'd be a more flavor-hitting replacement for it. Unless it's the undead Wizards coming back/causing an Apocalypse, mmm...

jstizzle Hmm, you're quite right. Any ideas on what to replace with it?

Teemursu this makes me giggle... Stranglehold + Maralen of the Mornsong keeps us in dethrone and locks down the game while we demonic tutor every turn :P.. just recently acquired marchesa for my 2nd EDH build using your list for reference i love it! +1

Gosse Awesome! I'm so honored, honestly. :D I've definitely wanted an excuse to include Maralen of the Mornsong, and your idea might actually be a good catalyst for it. c:

Hey, thanks a lot. Sorry for responding so late. :) Haven't been playing as much Magic in general.

I've actually tried Apprentice Necromancer and Information Dealer , but they simply work poorly in my Marchesa list without haste. :) The effect of Apprentice Necromancer would be really good, but you not only need to wait a turn cycle to use it, but looping it with Marchesa is kind of slow.

Your list seems decent. Let me know if you still play it. :)
