stony silence is usually a sideboard card so i advise putting the back to nature in sideboard or changing it to something like dromoka's command

fathulk yeah I have been looking into a better alternative for Back to Nature. Unfortunately most of the good ones are either too mana expensive, or require a color I don't run :/

Natural state mainboads can be a real dead card. Also steel overseer looks good for this deck.Maybe change stoic rebuttal for metallic rebuke.

May I suggest Commune with the Gods. It digs 5 cards deep for 2 mana and grabs any and all of your combo pieces.

Logics huh never thought about that. Ill tinker around with it and see what to swap around

Ancient Stirrings might be the card that the doctor ordered.

Sleight of Hand also can do work for you. Anticipate isn't bad either. Cards that grab just enchantment are few and far between, so cantrips are your best bet.

GabeCubed the original list actually ran stirrings as a 4 of. Unfortunately, it would often get several enchantments, which would then get sent to bottom, requiring a fetch to get back

Have you considered Solidarity of Heroes? It doesn't search like commune but it seems like a good play to hold up counter magic/removal mana and if you don't use it, double the counters on something

Unlife i actually ran it for a while. It was a relatively solid card... but I found myself sideboarding it out nearly every game

I'd swap Cremate with Scavenging Ooze.

Entrei says... #12

@APPLE01DOJ cremate is actually in there with purpose of being a cantrip. I wanted one that was instant speed, and 1 mana. Cremate was my favorite option, with 1 mana draw and exile something of choice from yard really appealing to me

MollyMab says... #13

Why do you need an instant speed cantrip? Why not play an instant speed draw like Think Twice. The bonus isnt worth playing a meh card anyway

LeaPlath to be completely honest, cremate was something of a last thought. After looking through the modern metagame, I found that snapcaster was one of the most commonly used cards in the format, and that it is a relatively safe bet to guess that anyone running blue is running one or two. At first, I thought something along the lines of "oh, scooze should take care of it"... And I wasn't wrong... They just waited until they could remove scooze, and then would play snapcaster. I found that in running cremate as a two of, it allows me to A. Surprise make snapcasters etb useless, B. Cripple goyf in certain situations (cough cough Tarfire), and C. Allowed me to dodge Surgical Extraction effects. It also coincided with an extra slot I couldn't think of what to fill with. Admittedly, I do sideboard it out immediately in certain matchups (tron, scapeshift, etc)

I appreciate the thought though!

You may want Thoughtseize or IoK in the sideboard over Dispel, especially thanks to enemy Abrupt Decays. Since you need to dig for combo pieces, Opt is probably better than Peek, and with discard in the side youll already have hand info.

For the SB I think going to like 2 Dispel 4 discard spells will cover your bases. Storm will be big there, but your GY hate is probably sufficient. Maybe Relic of Progenitus over Tormod's Crypt?

Good luck!

Oh yeah I hadn't thought about. I put peek in there way before Opt was modern legal.

Thanks!

Yeah that sounds good to me! Im no modern expert, but I know 3 decks are relatively big right now: BG rock, Eldrazitron, and storm. Discard helps vs all of them plus the resurgent Jeskai/UW control. Itll also give some game against burn (maybe you want to try some Kitchen Finks?)

Then theres the ever-present Grixis Death's Shadow. Thatll be difficult, but all the GY hate youve got will be useful.

What are you using Damnation for, by the way?

Mainly against decks such as Tron Eldrazi and Titanshift, which I can't kill with Abrupt Decay and Fatal Push. Most other decks I can push/decay.

For Knightfall, if you can take out Retreat to Coralhelm with IoK or Abrupt Decay, you can slow down the combo significantly. Tormods Crypt is only going to slow Knight, but doesnt do anything against youre opponents Scooze, Tracker, or exalted triggers off of Heirarch. Shadow of Doubt is a good add against it. I would also recommend Apostles Blessing against Reflector Mage and getting hit with Path to Exile.

That is my sideboard strategy against knightfall. Tapped out is being annoying and isn't letting me change deck description, so I can't show that yet
