That's right, it's another tribal deck, but this is one of the strongest tribes I've seen just short of elves or goblins. This isn't one of those spammy decks, it just makes big, big corpses. Running down the list, lets see what these fleshlings can do
Start at the basics: the basic Zombie creaturesWe start with the very basic 2/2 Walking Corpse, the quintessential zombie, just fodder to grow later, lets not spend much time here. One
Highborn Ghoul
for it's intimidate, but it's fairly weak, just fodder for the graveyard effects later on, along with
Sewer Shambler
. The nice bit about
Sewer Shambler
is that it has scavenge, just in case you don't have use of the graveyard exiling.
Undead Executioner
just kills an little creature when killed and is more fodder.
Abattoir Ghoul
is a little better, but only when you buff it with the Zombie buffers that I'll show later. I just liked
Dead Reveler
's flavor text. Unscythe, Killer of Kings is a little cheap at times, but is also great to feed you an army!
We have two kill cards so far, nothing special, just kill cards.
Next is the odd man out, one of the three non-zombie creatures in here, the Butcher of Malakir. Although very expensive, when using the storm, your mana is free for using on him. Note: He is very end game
Next are the exilers! The two
Ghoulcaller's Bell
are only to toss away creatures to exile, as is the milling effects of Armored Skaab and Screeching Skaab. This feeds your ability to bring out the cheapish Skaab Goliath, Relentless Skaab,
Stitched Drake
,
Headless Skaab
, and Skaab Ruinator. The last is the best, for me, especially its graveyard casting ability, even if you are getting milled hard, you can pull this big guy out and turn the tables!
Diregraf Captain, Lord of the Undead, and Undead Warchief are great for buffing zombies, with Lord of the Undead being able to pull zombies back from the grave and then Undead Warchief letting you put them back in the game for a bit cheaper. But the best at that would definitely be the last two non-zombies, the Havengul Runebinders. They exile a creature and put a perminant +1/+1 counter on all zombies, bring on the armies! The other two deck sourcers would be
Call to the Kindred
, which sources your deck to pull zombies, and Rooftop Storm, which makes zombies then free.
But the real stars are the cheap to cast, tough to kill Unbreathing Horde. This makes it so even if you are milled and are SOL, you can bring out a heavy for 3 and watch your opponent squirm (Watch for kill cards).
Enjoy your invasion!
