Nice deck. However, you might want to get rid of some of those red lands. On the right, you might see how unbalanced the lands are. Other than that, nice deck.

@Justa_Winmill thanks for the input. what should I do then to rebalance the land issue though?

The way your deck looks it seems very midrange, so if thats the route you want to go down I would suggest four Arbor Elf and for Farseek and perhaps Borderland Ranger ?

However if you want more of an aggressive deck i would suggest a variety of the following:

Legion Loyalist , Stromkirk Noble , Burning-Tree Emissary , Flinthoof Boar , Lightning Mauler , more Ghor-Clan Rampager , Dryad Militant , Rakdos Cackler , Hellrider , Splatter Thug ... I hope they are helpful, I mean I run a Gruul aggro which to be honest kicks ass, so I say the fastest aggro possible is the best option for Gruul.

Also, you might want to get rid of Roaring Primadox , as his ability is more for "Enter the battle field" effects.

@R3M3DY thanks for your suggestions. I should probably begin work on a sideboard then.

Get rid of some mountains, then add some forests. Or maybe add some more dual lands to replace the mountains.

@Justa_Winmill I was planning to use Roaring Primadox in a combo with either Thragtusk for more life and tokens, or Elvish Visionary for draws though I guess that would make him more of a side choice then.

Sorry, I forgot I haven't got Elvish Visionary in this deck.

Heyy, this is the gruul deck I am running in standard at the moment, its efficient, powerful, and successful so far. Sorry i sent a link to the page but I didn't know how to format it, hope this helps a little!

@R3M3DY Looks good, might try switching things up. Don't want to copy the whole deck but there are some things I might try using. Thanks for the input!

I like the deck, but I would suggest taking out a few things and adding a bit more.

I would take out two Kessig Wolf Run and replace them with two Rootbound Crag instead, that way you don't end up drawing a Kessig Wolf Run when you really needed that extra red or green mana.

You can have some really fun shenanigans with Burning-Tree Emissary on turn two. Turn two, drop your forest ( or mountain ), play the Emissary. With your two floating Mana from the Emissary, you can play a Flinthoof Boar , Burning-Tree Emissary again, Legion Loyalist with a Rancor as well, a Cackler, or if you add Lightning Mauler to your deck you can pair it up with your emmisary and attack with three creatures on turn two. But the Mauler is situational, needing another creature to soulbond with. He is good in Sledgehammer, but there are too many other good options for this kind of deck if you decide to aggro it up.

That being said, I would add two more Burning-Tree Emissary , replacing two Slaughterhorn s. Rakdos Cackler is a really fun card, and wears Rancor very well. There is no feeling like having a Cackler swing for four second turn. I would up that by 1 or keep it as it is if you have plans in adding more threatening creatures.

I would honestly get rid of the last Slaughterhorn and your two Viashino Shanktail and add three Wasteland Viper s. The card alone can deal with huge threats with it's deathtouch ability. Attack with it and your opponent will hesitate in blocking with it because of deathouch. You can then bloodrush the viper with your Ghor-Clan Rampager (great card by the way). Or leave the viper as a blocker, killing anything that it blocks.

Overall, look for the cards that you think you can live without, and then find the cards that you definitely need in this deck and raise the numbers on those cards so you will have a better chance drawing those cards.

A really good page to read would be this page. the orignal poster did a very good job at describing the best cards you can find to build a really fun aggro gruul deck.

I hope this overly long post helped out!

Most of all, have fun!

@lionrp

How is the deck running so far? I've playtested my gruul deck on here and it's pretty balls to the wall quick

@mbentley6 The deck is doing pretty well, Out of 10 games I've played with it I won 8.

So I've looked at some of the new Dragon's Maze cards and tried to apply them to this deck. [Zhur-Taa Druid] seems pretty good with mana ramp that deals damage. Any other suggestions for changes now that the new set is out?

Maybe I could remove the [Giant Growth]s for something like [Rubblebelt Raiders] to keep up with creature volume.

Cool Deck! I would consider taking out the Gruul Guildgate , to maximize your mana pool. I have a gruul aggro deck too that's a little different than this one if you want to check it out. It's still undergoing a lot of work XD so comments/advice is welcome.

For gruul, I think you should bring the good cards up to playsets:

The rest lands.

June 20, 2013 12:25 p.m.

I think 1 or 2 copies of Gruul War Chant could be good. Kinda accomplishes the same thing as Hellrider , so you might be good without it. But it could certainly be a decent curve topper, and make it hard for them to stop you once it starts getting mid-game.

Gruul War Chant could definitely be useful when I get lots of creatures out. I'll consider adding it. thanks.

So now that I've played at a couple FNM tournaments I can see that now my problems mainly arise from Rakdos.
