Yeah, that's, well... pretty much it. I can also card:Altar's Reap it. And my opponent doesn't specifically need a Blightsteel Colossus . I can also work with Wurmcoil Engine or any of the Titans. I also like the idea of sitting on an Act of Aggression vs Wolf Run Ramp, and stealing their pumped creature, and flinging it at them for the win.

So it does work. Just takes a bit against other decks.
December 11, 2011 3:32 p.m.
But isn't the point of the splicer deck to over run you with creatures ultimately? Blightsteel is more of the gimmick of the deck, not the main win condition.
December 11, 2011 3:36 p.m.
Kind of depends on the splicer deck from what I've seen. Most of the decks getting played at our FNM are based on pulling off the Blightsteel Colossus combo, and I haven't seen a win based off of overwhelming amounts of golems. Again, counters, and why I have card:Black Sun's Zenith in the sideboard.

This really a nicely rounded deck. Normally I have an issue with no creatures, but beating your opponent in the face his own Blightsteel Colossus then exiling it is good enough for me. +1 from me.

Another good way to counter it is by pulling out Birds of Paradise turn 1 Melira, Sylvok Outcast turn 2 then wait one turn and then whip out an Act of Treason or its equivelent then play Revoke Existence turn 4 or 5 depending.

Since you only have 10 cards in your SB, I would suggest throwing in 5 wincons that you could SB in if you find yourself up against a tough match-up where your deck idea won't do so well. Some Inferno Titan and card:Devil's Play would do nicely >=D

Nice suggestions, Steimtime! Thanks! I'm more attached to cards like card:Red Sun's Zenith instead of card:Devil's Play, especially since I can actually cycle it back into my deck from the graveyard with the help of Snapcaster Mage .

you know i see a nice home for Charmbreaker Devils in this. maybe just because i love that card. +1 for taking my slip up and turning it into a winning deck.

did you ever look at my version? I made this after i came home the other night.
December 11, 2011 5:02 p.m.
I was just thinking... With all of the stealing of creatures there is not a single Mind Control or Volition Reins I would think about squeezing these in as well!

Also Surgical Extraction on Shape Anew kinda messes them up ;P
December 12, 2011 10:53 a.m.
Oh I know. I wasn't expecting this deck to initially be competitive. I was just throwing something fun together off the top of my head. Now, if there's a way to keep this Blue/Black control with a turn 4 or 5 Blightsteel Bomb, I'm always willing to listen to suggestions.
December 12, 2011 11:37 a.m.
Thought I was posting on a different one of my decks, hah!
Yeah, I've considered the Surgical Extraction thing. Especially in tandem with the Blightsteel Colossus itself, when you shoot it to their graveyard with a Turn to Frog .
Ignore my previous post :)

I used to run a blue/black version of this deck thats sole purpose was for blighsteel to come out on turn 4.Try Trinket Mage fetch Darksteel Relic next Shape Anew . Might want to throw in 2-3 Gitaxian Probe so you can see if your opponent is sitting on any counter spells. Could try building a deck around that. But being in BU means O-ring and other white spells will completely shut down your blightsteel as they have a tough time removing those.
December 12, 2011 1:30 p.m.
Yeah, I'm running a similar theme in to that in The Colossus of Death deck. I like the general build of the deck, and I think it's going to be end up being a more "for fun" deck than anything. Blightsteel, while being so, so pretty, just isn't that good when you have to rely on combos to make him happen.
December 12, 2011 1:32 p.m.
I would like to see a Crumbling Colossus Fling ed for the win... :P
December 12, 2011 9:37 p.m.
I would main-deck 1-2 card:Sorin's Vengeance this would provie an alternative win condition with it and snapcasting it back.
December 12, 2011 11:33 p.m.
Main problem of this deck in my opinion -- that is if You will play against some control decks that have no creatures.
Just add Torpor Orb or Ratchet Bomb -- no golems tokens, no combo condition
Need to add more creatures like Geth, Lord of the Vault , Massacre Wurm , Sheoldred, Whispering One ets. and remove some Act of Treason or Gruesome Encore like spells
December 16, 2011 8:27 a.m.
I would go -4 Forbidden Alchemy , -1 Island , +2 Olivia Voldaren , +1 Inferno Titan

u need a win clause cause because atm Thrun will wipe on his own :( and if a blue deck gets invisible stalker out ur in trouble i just played it with my (Mimic Lash) (I'm not going to advertise my deck with a link)i found stalling but no real threat of me dying i suggest more than just 3 creatures in main
December 21, 2011 12:19 p.m.
Because of threats like Thrun and Invisible Stalker is why I'm sideboarding the card:Black Sun's Zenith, and also the Inferno Titan s if I need my own beat stick.

What combo though? The only one i'm seeing is flinging a blightsteel (and that is if they even play one).
