ragos87 I thought I had some in there for mana ramping, but when I broke it down, those were missing. Zhur-Taa Druid gives green mana though. I like the idea of the Sylvan Caryatid since it can be any color.

ragos87 I'm definitely planning on using Garruk's Horde .

Hey. I'd loose 2x Fog and add more land. 21 is very low considering you have no ramp. As a creature deck you want to be getting them out and/or making them bigger every turn, you can't afford to be mana-screwed and go a turn without dropping something! Burning-Tree Emissary may help you with this. Gruul Guildgate 's are cheap and will help too. +1 for beasts!

Thanks for the suggestions! Zhur-Taa Druid is very minimal mana ramping so Burning-Tree Emissary is a good idea. I hate guildgates bc of being tapped, but I haven't sprung for the shock lands yet, so I'll add a few.

I'm a big fan of Temple of Abandon . It's not as expensive to pick up as Stomping Ground (about half the price at the moment) and the scry ability more than makes up for entering play tapped in my opinion.

I like the Gruul Charm in the sideboard, awesome against Nightveil Specter and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver !

In comparison, I believe that Gruul Charm is good enough for the main for its ability to just walk past any defenders your opponent has.

Battering Krasis is a 3 drop and he can evolve with Kalonian Tusker or Brushstrider the trample doesn't hurt either. Slaughterhorn can be a decent 3/2 by himself but he's almost a Giant Growth which acts as a creature in a pinch. If you wanna make it more aggro and drop your average CMC. Beast beatdown keep it up. My beast deck was weak too but keep grinding it out I wanna see this tribal rule.

thefatmaninanovercoat thanks for the suggestions. I'm still working on this deck to make it competitive. I'll def consider those :)

I've made a pauper Gruul deck recently, but I think you could easily develop a nice budget standard deck using this deck scheme Gruul Aggro Pauper and replacing some of the cards with they uncommon/rare equivalents.

Unfortunately I just tested our decks, and you did win one match, but I was mana screwed, and I won 5... It never went past turn 12, usually turns 8-10... IMHO you need a way to protect your creatures from removal, especially boardwipes, as they totally wreck you. (I run 4 Supreme Verdict and 3 Merciless Eviction maindeck... I am trying to find something that can beat me so I will see my weaknesses... Trying your boyfriends WW deck next (if I can find it again)...

Calavon thanks for the update. We keep meaning to work on this deck bc we know it's weak. But time always gets away. Good luck with his deck. It's been pretty damn powerful. His username is Oddjob9.

Rootbound Crag is a cheap yet useful card to invest in.

princessswigg says... #17

Spartan028 which card?

November 19, 2013 7:24 p.m.

Spartan028 says... #18

Rootbound crag, a land that comes into play tapped unless you control a mountain or a forest. You can tap it for green/red.

I would put Ruric Thar, the Unbowed . It's a big creature that will stop others casting instants and sorcery cards against you.

November 19, 2013 7:51 p.m.

Bromjunaar says... #20

Spartan028, that card, along with that entire cycle of land, rotated out when Theros dropped

November 19, 2013 7:51 p.m.

Bromjunaar says... #21

And kuryan100, while Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is an awesome card and an incredible answer for control, it would be more of something for the sideboard with this current build.

Also, (sorry for the triple post) why do you have a Seismic Stomp in the side when the Gruul Charm has the same effect already covered?

November 19, 2013 7:55 p.m.

kuryan100 says... #23

I also might put in a planeswalker like Xenagos, The Reveler or Domri Rade . Domri is good to get creatures out from your deck without drawing cards, and Xenagos gets you extra land to play.

Calavon says... #24

Yea, those planeswalkers have caused me some problems... I would consider them to defeat control players

every creature need not be a beast for it to work... consider the hydras, they wreck control as well
