Catching up on comments ...

michael921,
I forgot to mention earlier: Yeah, I had forgotten about the Crater Elemental earlier, and +1 on Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip ... that's just SUCH a great card! As always, thanks much!

Kizmetto,
I also forgot to reply to you earlier. Gaea's Revenge is cool, but I don't think it's a good fit for this deck. If I decide to add a seven-drop sometime, I think it'll be World Breaker. Thanks though!

Argeaux,
Thanks much for investing your time in playtesting the deck; I really appreciate it!
Yeah, it's kind of like MetaMaster22 said ... beating Languish is only beating part of the removal challenge ...
I'm not sure about Foundry, but I'll give it a hard look. I was thinking about going Temur too, partly for counters, but also for Wandering Fumarole ... which would be even more amazing with Assault Formation.
I used to play a ton of Fog effects; not entirely sure why I got away from it; I'll definitely give Revealing Wind a hard look too.
Thanks again, tons!

MtGCraze1303135 and Gop,
Thanks!

If you go Temur you might also think about Lumbering Falls.

This deck would really benefit from at least one Land Creature, as I think you've gathered.

How about Arlinn Kord  Flip in here instead of nissa, her ult isn't very good for this deck but all of her other abilities would work pretty well with what this deck is trying to do. Play her on turn 4, then turn 5 play and swing with a crater elemental for 8 without tapping it, make it swing for 18 if you have the necessary Shape the Sands to pull it off.

UmmmmmmLOL,
Maybe. I love Arlinn, but have yet to find a good deck for her. I've tried her in every sort of Werewolf deck, and found she's really only good in the Control match-up. So I hadn't even thought about her for this deck. But yeah, she's certainly worth testing!

Thanks!

I've been playing this deck a lot on cockatrice and i can report some of my findings from testing cards.

  1. Oblivion Sower is amazing, mainboard it, this thing has so much power with or without assault formation, Explosive Vegetation and Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip make it easy to cast. 8.5/10

  2. Arlinn Kord  Flip definitely fulfills her purpose in this deck, you can get a crater elemental to swing for 8 the turn you cast it, chain her with a Goldnight Castigator while assault formation is up and you have a 2 hit kill. She's a more offensive pick than Nissa, Voice of Zendikar, but she suits my play style better as a 2-of than nissa did as a 3-of. 7/10

  3. Embermaw Hellion has nothing to offer this deck, you can take him off your maybeboard, not once did I draw him and think "this is the card i need", there is always something better for that slot. 2/10

I haven't been using Reality Smasher and Dragonlord Atarka, mostly because I am trying to keep the deck as close to my IRL collection as possible to practice it for FNM, that being said, I think with the addition of arlinn and oblivion sower, smasher is somewhat irrelevant. I haven't decided if Atarka would be helpful or not, but i plan to test him and Skeleton Key next, probably separately.

UmmmmmmLOL,
Thanks so much for pointing out Arlinn Kord  Flip and Oblivion Sower here. Yeah, they're both REALLY impressive in the deck!

Love it! I ran a Sultai version for awhile. But you really do need Shape the Sands, i would put all the instant cards you have maindeck right now in the sideboard and replace them with 4 copies of it. Both sweeping burns and flying removal are conditional cards, keep those types in your sideboard. That way your maindeck is as versatile as possible. Plus an extra 5 damage to the face has ended games for me, best combat trick in the game for this deck.

albino_ninja,
Thanks much!

I've actually had Shape the Sands in one board or another since the earliest days of the deck, but I keep finding it to be way too conditiinal. Over the last few months, the story in my meta has basically been ...

Thanks again though!

Good stuff!

Glad it was fun for you.

Were you able to thwart Languish?

Thanks, Argeaux!

Ironically, though my Creatures often had Dead Weights hanging off them like Christmas ornaments, I didn't see a Languish all night!

I've been championing Dead Weight since the start of the season.

Everyone kept calling me crazy.

It makes me laugh at how many people are using it now.

Mine usually kills, but that's because of all the other removal I have.

Maybe your tactics made playing Languish not worth playing.

Super-excited about brewing for EMN, with Mirrorwing Dragon!

Copying Vines of the Recluse and maybe Shape the Sands onto the whole team? Yeah, I'll take some of that!
