Punish your opponent for playing spells.
I've seen a few decks on here featuring Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and focusing on getting him out early to put some pressure on the opponent. I wanted to try and make a deck with more options to screw over your opponent. So I threw in one of my all time favorite cards;
Mondronen Shaman
, which has the beautiful transformation into
Tovolar's Magehunter
. Doing even more damage to your opponent any time they play a spell, not just a non creature spell. This in addition to being a fairly sizable 5/5.
This led me to throw in
Immerwolf
to prevent the opponent from just sucking it up and casting two spells to turn her back into a human. Since Immerwolf is in there, I also thought I may as well throw in some other wolf type cards to take advantage of the +1/+1 he offers. Added Huntmaster of the Fells
after it was suggested, which is awesome, cause he heals, burns, and makes tokens.
Moonmist
because it's a sure way to transform the Shaman and the Huntmaster without giving up my turn, and can offer a surprise defense or offense. Or a fog in case things are really bad. All in all I love moonmist.
Threw in Taurean Mauler as more punishment to the opponent for playing spells, just in a less direct way. They can either leave him as a 2/2, or play a card. Their choice. Oh and since it's a changeling, it gets the bonus from Immerwolf as well. This is still a maybe card for me though.
Added Stormbreath Dragon and
Hellrider
because they're solid choices for creatures in an attack heavy deck.
As always, any advice is appreciated.
And to give credit where credit is due, I first got the idea for the deck when I saw NinjaKitty778's deck Not Creature? Then Die!, and ciabatta52's deck Gruul: Ground and Pound.
I wouldn't mind fitting in some more mana dorks, I'm just not sure what else to take out. Taurean Mauler has proven extremely great, and
Hellrider
has won me games as well. That pretty much leaves Stormbreath Dragon which would make me sad because.. it's Stormbreath Dragon.
