Eleros,
Lol, I missed your second question again (up on Post #44).

Like I mention in Post #30: I've kind of gone back and forth on the 1-drop vs 2-drop Instants. The idea with the 1-drops is to chain them together Storm-fashion, for some explosive swings, especially when Silverfur is out. But the 2-drops are definitely better top-decks, and it's kind of wild how often that one extra point of damage makes all the difference.

So yes, I've tested both, and found it's kind of a wash. I pretty much used the 1-drops throughout SOI Standard, in a more Aggro build. For EMN, Mirrorwing makes it a little more Mid-range, and so I'm starting with the 2-drops.

Thanks!

clayperce, I guess its just because I'm running aggro werewolves that I though waxing moon would be beneficial. I guess your 'drazi werewolves deck build would be better. Ill go check it out and comment over there

Looking good clayperce! I played with Decimator of the Provinces in my tokens deck today and it was a total game winner. Not sure if I want to run him/it mainboard or not, but it's really fun when it works. I sacked a 4 mana creature and cast him for 5 with pretty solid board presence. Maybe not a bad card for when the Zada Mirrorwing combo isn't a great matchup. Happy Brewing!

Out of Curiosity, Would Uncaged Fury work quite well?

Cragon18,
Decimator of the Provinces is a really interesting thought ... I ran it in Pre-release and loved it, and I'm testing it in Gruul Butts (EMN) and Gruul 'Draziwolves (EMN). But I had never even thought about it for this deck! But yeah, Decimator plus a small ramp package might be a better transformational sideboard than my current Heirloom Wolf package ...

I'll give it a serious look; thanks so much!

_FxZIONZ_,
Uncaged Fury is a great card, but this deck is so crowded in the three-drop slot already, I've never tried it. I love it over in Zzada Prowezz (EMN) though!

Cragon18,
Mentioning the Prowess deck though reminds me: Be very careful with the Decimator in any Blue matchup, especially post-sideboard. Spells like Clash of Wills are brutal against Emerge Creatures.

To no one in particular, but,i am in a area where the decks i am versing are not heavy removal, but use a good amount of it. What could i use as a sideboard or even mainboard that may be useful against these decks?? would there be much to change??

_FxZIONZ_ these cards help against removal.

Eerie Interlude (the only one that helps with exile)
Selfless Spirit
Make a Stand
Archangel Avacyn  Flip

Rather than talking about this on clayperce's deck, put a Comment on your deck or profile and tag me.

_FxZIONZ_,
Like Argeaux mentions, White is really good at countering removal. Blue's great too, with spells like Glint and all kinds of great counterspells.

But for this deck, you still have some decent options ...

Beyond that, it's (like I say in the deck description) just the traditional Gruul responses to threats: Crush, burn, and go fast. Because you don't need answers if your opponent's dead! :-)

_FxZIONZ_,
It's not great, but Ulrich's Kindred is another option too.

Inspiring Call could conceivably work as well. And of course creatures with Dash (like Lightning Berserker) can't be hit by Sorcery-speed removal.

I used Inspiring Call to good effect in my Renown deck.

Noctem says... #16

if you're going to use Inspiring Call I would recommend reworking the deck to include more cards that give counters. Only having 2 Nissa's is just not enough.

Noctem,
Yeah, I was just trying to give _FxZIONZ_ (or other readers) as many options as I could think of. Thanks though!

Thanks for the options, I think i will be replacing something like chandra's ignition for Woodcutter's Grit as if i think like exile and destroy spells etc are going to be a problem then ill side them in, however for board wipes and damage dealing spells i believe this deck already has enough buff spells to defend against it.

I think ill be moving Aim High to side and taking out Chandra's Ignition and running Woodcutter's Grit 2 in main one in side. Ill have to create my own deck using all of the creatures and lands in this deck and just playing around with various spells. (FYI my deck wont be made public except for my mates to see what they have to trade, no need to worry) if you are worried just continuously check my profile, I shouldnt be deckcycling.

_FxZIONZ_,
Sounds like a good plan for the deck. And seriously, please feel free to make your deck public and deckcycle like mad ... I love seeing other Wolf decks on the site and hearing how they perform in different metas! And please post it over on the All things Wolven thread too! :-)

Good luck (and good skill) with your build!

clayperce Great to see those Mirrorwing Dragon's have well and truly landed!

oh yeah, the addition of Nissa to the deck is pure genius - nice one!

Rabid_Wombat,
Thanks, mate! The genius point for that one goes to michael921.

snarlmkiv
Well, kinda. I'm frankly still trying to figure out if I'm going to run ZadaWolves (this deck), Midrange Prowess (link), or RDW (link) this Friday. If I go ZadaWolves it'll be close to this one, but probably a little more Aggro. Plus I've got to find room for some more removal.

Those Prowess and RDW decks are sick. Im inclined to try out the midrange prowess because of the fliers up and about.. Let me know how it goes.

Confront the Unknown is nice to run with Zada. The investigate tokens stack so if you have three creatures on the board - you choose the order - one gets +1/+1, the next gets +2/+2, and the last gets +3/+3. Personally, I'm a little iffy about Mirrorwing Dragon. One Incendiary Flow cast on him or any removal and you can kiss all other creatures on the board goodbye. Maybe trade him for a wolf/werewolf to generate more wolves from Zada+Silverfur.

Goodluck

Snorklebottom, actually Mirrorwing Dragon doesn't copy the spells on your creatures when an opponent targets you, it targets their creatures. If your opponent targets Mirrorwing with spot removal, they can kiss their own board goodbye.
