NotSquishedYet,
I agree the card is awesome ... it's probably going to be a must-play in any Midrange deck that's got Green and tokens. I'm just not sure it'll work fast enough in an Aggro build :-)

Noctem,
As I type this, her TCGmid is $26.86. There's also some speculation about where her price will eventually settle, over on Arlinn Kord: Buy or Wait?.

Oh, it will work fast enough. Imagine this modern budget combo deck:
Turn 1: Forest, Ornithopter.
Turn 2: Island, [Cryptolith Rite], Altar of the Brood, Ornithopter.
Turn 3: Plains, Midnight Guard, Expedite, Retraction Helix.
I win by infinite mill. I know it's a stretch to pull that off, but note the Affinity-like speed of comboing off.
March 25, 2016 4:44 p.m.
NotSquishedYet,
That's super-elegant. Wow!
And yeah, I should have said "I'm just not sure it'll work fast enough in an SOI Standard Aggro build" :-)
March 25, 2016 5:01 p.m.
I would love to see someone actually pull off that combo in modern considering the sheer amount of ways players would have to stop it lol. At least we know the combo exists :p

I'm sure I can find a convoluted way to Dispel those interruptions. The much more effective combo would use Temur Ascendancy or something similar to go off later and much faster, though. :P

Everyone,
At the risk of sounding like a commercial for TopLevelPodcast, there's a really good discussion on Arlinn play patterns here. The Arlinn piece starts at 38:24.

Hey man, thanks for tagging me in the comments.
Ive never played standard before so I'm not sure I will be much help. I will keep an eye on your brew though and jump in if I have any feedback.
Just dropping by to wish you luck on your brew as WW is the only reason I even built a mtg deck.
Cheers

Hermit of the Natterknolls (link) has the card draw angle covered. But the flavorful flavor text is what wins you over: "He hates company... ...but he'll have you for lunch."
March 25, 2016 5:22 p.m.
CloudThumper,
Yeah, Hermit is crazy ... and probably my nominee for "Most Blue" Green card ever! And thanks for pointing out the flavor text; I hadn't noticed that yet :-D
For a much less consistent option, that's just a ton of fun: Expedite, with the combo out!

Yo clayperce, this is my non-Zada wolves. can you check it out?

Noctem,
Thanks TONS, because Vessel of Volatility is definitely cool. Looking at just the combo piece, I think the best possible play is ...
- T1: Cast Village Messenger
- T2: Cast Vessel of Volatility
- T3: Cast Village Messenger, sac' a Vessel, cast 2x more Vessels
- T4: Cast Silverfur Partisan, sac' a Vessel, cast Zada, Hedron Grinder ... leaving us with 4 Creatures (including 3 Werewolves) and for shenanigans.
As comparison, the mana dork plan currently in the deck description yielded only 4 Creatures (including 2 Werewolves) and for shenaigans!
However ...
mavoricke and NotSquishedYet,
OK, y'all were TOTALLY right. Cryptolith Rite is beyond bonkers! For it, I think the best possible play is ...
- T1: Cast Village Messenger
- T2: Cast Cryptolith Rite
- T3: Cast 3x Village Messenger, tap to cast 3x Lightning Berserker, tap to cast Silverfur Partisan
- T4: Cast Zada, Hedron Grinder ... leaving us with 9 Creatures (including 5 Werewolves) and up to for shenanigans.
ZOMG, and THANKS!!!

Gameover209X,
You're very welcome, and thanks for dropping by! I'm sure a bunch of us (including me) have never played Modern, so we're even! :-)
Thinking about it though, I suspect there's going to be an influx of Werewolf-fans into Modern in Fall of 2017 (when Shadows of Innistrad and Eldritch Moon rotate out of the Standard format) ... so we might as well start talking now!
Draw well!
March 25, 2016 7:01 p.m.
Kala,
Absolutely! Looking at all the new cards, I really think Werewolves are meant to lean more Mid-Range. I'm going to continue to push this deck as Aggro as possible, but I'm glad to see you and others pushing it back the other way!

Make that with one less creature... and an Expedite 8D, and remember: it lets you splash like hell. Now imagine the shenanigans of Always Watching : Boost your swarm, and let them tap for boosts mid combat. "What do you mean, mana for Might of the Masses and Titan's Strength and all those others? They now have zero-cost convoke!"

One other thing: Remember your third mana source turn 2.

clayperce would it be ok for me to post a decklist here to try and get some help on it?
March 25, 2016 11:33 p.m.
clayperce Hey man im back! What do you think of all those new spoilers, now that we have access to them! (soon the site will update!)
I love the choices you've made so far.

Kizmetto, no biggie, but everyone on Tapped.out is not necessarily a man.
March 26, 2016 1:15 a.m.
Argeaux i know that haah i meant it like friendly banter, "hey dude", "hey buddy" etc
March 26, 2016 1:20 a.m.
Yeah, problem is that it's a male pronoun.
Imagine how jarring it would be if a word like girl was used to refer to everybody. As a male it would feel weird.
Gender neutral language is easy to use and much more inclusive of everybody.
Just some food for thought.
March 26, 2016 1:29 a.m.
Argeaux sorry, i'll try to remember. As a girl myself, it doesn't bother me being called dude or male pronouns on the internet (because no one can really tell who is what on the internet) , but i know its an issue and i will make a conscious effort to call people buddy or something genderless specific in the future!
sorry clayperce for these few off topic comments, and hope i didn't misgender you or make you feel uncomfortable!
