I'm honestly just mesmerized by this deck. It really shows the power of obzedat. +1 from me. if you could check out my deck, An actual Lab Maniac Deck. That doesn't mill. it would be much appreciated.

Oh thanks, the deck is still a work in progress so I was not expecting any likes so soon but thanks. I will take a look.

The one thing I might recommend is either tamiyo or the new gideon. the new gideon mostly for his 0, since you will be clearing the board every turn anyway.
January 10, 2013 12:49 a.m.
yeah I was considering using planeswalkers but kind of like the draw go playstyle as apposed to a one of planeswalker thats mostly just gonna tap a creature down or something. The new gideon would be a pretty sweat alternate win con if all goes downhill. But of all the standard planeswalkers out I would probably play the memory adept for the mill since he would be a more reliable alternate win con combined with nephalia drownyards.

I love the use of Evil Twin here as it's quite insane with all the Thragusks running around.+1, you might want to check out a series of decks I'm doing for Post-GTC Standard.

Thanks, I think most esper control decks that will be popping up with GTC will include evil twin somewhere in their 75 cards. He is just a clone but so much better if his targets start becoming worth it.
January 16, 2013 6:39 p.m.
I take that back. Soul ransom might end up being better then evil twin for what I want it to do.

I think you may want to switch a Supreme Verdict for another Terminus , because Boros Charm will hinder your Supreme Verdict .
I do like the deck and would like to know how it does, because I am looking to make an esper deck as well, but don't know where to start from. +1

Good point Delequiox. Once I finish obtaining all the cards and play an FNM, I will throw up an update.

Elixir of Immortality to sustain and keep drawing into your board wipes. Reliquary Tower keeps you from discarding after a whopping sphinx's revelation.

I'm not the type of person who likes much control, but I like this deck. It's creative with a lot of options, keeps things fun and interesting! +1 from me. :)

Thanks a lot PriestessKikyo1! That means a lot coming from a person that doesn't even play control. I am glad it caught your eye.

I'm a bit worried there. Unless Obzedat alone is strong enough to win you games, your only win-con is mill through Nephalia Drownyard and Psychic Spiral. What if you can't win through mill? And the only way you will ever be able to wipe the board when Obzedat will be out will be to miracle a Terminus on your opponent's turn which is very unlikely to happen. The deck idea is great, but I would just replace the three Architect of Thought for three Memory Adept.

So i am also planning on playing Esper control with gatecrash i dont have all the cards i need yet. In my version i have more planeswalkers including Tamiyo and Liliana of the veil. Also i think that Orzhav charm can be much better then Dimir charm the only reason i can see playing dimir charm is it help with miracle terminus but that shouldnt matter that much that u would like a kill spell over it. I do like ur list as a more traditional control list tho.

Confusion on what your trying to do with this deck.
you said "Psychic Strike just puts us closer to winning with our main win condition, mill." This is not a mill deck......
If this is meant to be a mill deck you might want to focus on that.
If your not going mill then remove the mill altogether mill is generally an all or nothing sort of game.
I think a deck like this has potential but you need to find a focus for the deck and stick with it.

In my list Orzhov charm is pretty terrible since its just a kill spell, which isnt bad but dimir charms modes are just a lot more relevent nearly 100% of the time. countering sorceries actually happens quite often, it acts like a kill spell against RDW and can set up good draws for me or bad draws for my opponent in the late game.
I do like the lists that have more planeswalkers but i didn't have the ones I would have wanted so I homebrewed this list and it is working very well so I am sticking with it.

Have you tried playing this deck deadonerising? If not then you can not really tell me its not a mill deck. You probably consider decks using Mind Grind , Consuming Aberration and similar cards to be mill decks but, honestly, how great are those decks? They might be fine in the casual setting but not so much in the competitive scene which is where this deck does work.
And not to be rude but mill should never be an all or nothing strategy in magic. Infect is an all or nothing strategy. If mill was good as an all or nothing strategy then there would be mill decks in legacy by now but there aren't (not including high tide variants). I can see where you could think that though. You are just a bit off with that thinking unless you have actually played this type of deck before.
But thanks for the comment and +1 :D

Not to start arguing but in standard the game is very quick. Also yes Mill decks are usually casual tier at best. You deck i feel is probably just above casual tier in itself., but that is my opinion and really doesn't matter to my point.
My Point: So how do you mill someone out with this deck?
You have three cards with mill potential Dimir Charm , Psychic Strike , and Nephalia Drownyard .
So lets use a "best mill case scenario" assuming 60 card deck for opponent with no extra drawing other then the one per turn, and we will have them go first.
Their turn one: Deck size 53 (Draw -7)
Your Turn one: you play a land
Their turn two : Deck Size 52 (Draw -1)
Your Turn Two: You play a land
Their turn Three: End of their turn you play a Dimir Charm : Deck Size: 49
Your Turn Three: You Play a land
Their Turn Four: You Play Psychic Strike or a Dimir Charm : Deck Size 46
Your Turn Four: You Play Nephalia Drownyard
Their Turn Five: You use Nephalia Drownyard :Deck Size 42
Your Turn Five: Play a Land
Their Turn Six: EOT Psychic Strike and Dimir Charm : Deck Size 37
Your Turn Six: Land
Their Turn Seven: EOT Nephalia Drownyard and Psychic Strike or Dimir Charm : Deck Size 31
Your Turn Seven: Land
Their Turn Eight: Double Nephalia Drownyard : Deck Size 24
... you get the idea
Takes longer then most normal games run even at perfect draws to have the possibility to Mill. I dont need to play your deck to know that Mill is not a realistic Win condition unless they are doing some major self mill. Also i can see that you could stall out the game and Mill that way but really your FAR more likely to kill your opponent with their own cheese see: Jace, Architect of Thought or drain smash them with Obzedat, Ghost Council .
My Point is that Mill is not your "main win condition".
Now i may have taken this as you trying to make a competitive deck. Where i am if you don't have a well tuned higher tier deck even at FNM you will be blown out of the water. From my observations i feel focus is what your deck needs, and a few tweeks could turn this deck from moderate deck to a killer deck.
Good Luck Sir or Madam

3-4 sphinx's revelations would be ideal but i only have a single one at the moment. So if you have any for trade please comment and maybe we can work something out.
