zebeg Any suggestions for cards I should put in like that? I think the deck has been pretty good with that, people tend to target me :P

Have you toyed with the idea of a Thraximundar and Grave Betrayal combo?

I think we are similarly inspired in our Marchesa concepts. I went a heavier mana rock, creatures with etb effects and board wipe route with mine. The talismans are especially nice, since you can ping yourself. Between fetches, shocks and talismans and alternating attacks, I generally can keep someone else on the throne. Here’s my take: Grixis Marchesa - Wherein Borrow Means Keep.

To start... WOAH THIS DECK's fonts and animations and stuff are super cool +1 for that alone!

Then the list is sweet for it's budget, good job there!

Would you consider Ponder or Preordain to sculpt your hands better?

SynergyBuild Hey, thanks for the compliment! I spent a lot of time on it :)

I was thinking about putting some of those sort of cards in the deck, I just wasn't sure about what to fit in.

I'll think about those cards, thanks for commenting!

Have you considered Whisper, Blood Liturgist over Hell's Caretaker? (or as well as!!)

In some ways it demands more of you but is flexible in timing and could double up hits from Flayer of the Hatebound, Stalking Vengeance, Warstorm Surge etc.

Cool deck and page bling btw :)

River Kelpie is definitely a sick card for Marchesa, my friend used to run her so I know how great of a commander she can be! +1 from me!

Disrupt Decorum seems decent for this deck, it would allow you to attack without fear. Not sure how you feel about it, but Painful Quandary is a cool card.

Strict upgrade of Fleshbag Marauder to Plaguecrafter . Also, how hard does this deck tend to mill people or steal from the opponent? I would think this is some mixture of an aggro and a theft/mill strategy given your card choices.

February 4, 2019 11:14 a.m.

TheRedGoat It doesn't mill that badly unless you start a loop. It mainly focuses on stealing big creatures and swinging with small things and having their ETB effects trigger when they die.

So if theft is your main strategy, why not look into literally just that with Chamber of Manipulation and Stolen Strategy ? And I assume you want to focus on creatures theft, which is why you don't have Mindclaw Shaman and his ilk?

TheRedGoat All true, thanks for the suggestions!

This deck list hits home for me. Marchesa, the Black Rose was my first commander deck. The lists are pretty similar. +1 from me :). I used to also run Polymorph and Mass Polymorph By the way, love the background. I wish I knew how to do this for my deck lists.

Sanguinolency Those are some great suggestions! Thanks!

How do you find this plays with only 34 land? I'm working on a deck right now and even at 36 land it feels so easy to get screwed.

Vicious Shadows is a pretty nasty card.

goldlion Honestly sometimes 34 lands seems fine for me, I get mana flooded more than mana screwed

What do you think about Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth ? I think it could help with mana fixing especially if you add in Liliana of the Dark Realms so you can fetch any land you want... this is just my two cents and I hope it helps out a little.

Last One Standing is an excellent budget friendly boardwipe here. Also odd/3 cmc which gets around Gaddock Teeg and Void Winnower.

March 1, 2019 3:12 p.m.

xander11 I haven't played Magic for a while, so I'm not exactly prepared to invest a bunch of money in it. Urborg seems like a good investment though, I was ready to get it back when I used to play too!

hkhssweiss says... #22

Unfortunately xander11, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth doesn't work like that with Liliana of the Dark Realms , Urborg only affects lands in play and not the whole library itself so you won't be able to tutor for any lands. If that was the case however a lot of cards would be broken~

March 1, 2019 4:01 p.m.

hkhssweiss xander11 Urborg with Liliana's ult is amazing though. If I put that in I might need some ETB doublers... Or not might just run with it

March 1, 2019 4:40 p.m.

hkhssweiss says... #24

That is also true, Crypt Ghast and Nirkana Revenant are two doublers I can think of off the bat

Ogre Battledriver ... add this to a sac outlet and Flayer of the Hatebound and it goes from 36 damage per round in a 4 player game to 52 damage and if you're lucky enough that Goblin Bombardment is the sac outlet, it's 60 damage.
