Guile: U/W Human Steal Deck

Standard*

zzxyyzx

Beguiler of Wills will always hold a special place in my heart being the first mythic I pulled ( Yes, I am that miserable xD ) and it was only my duty as a Johnny to come up with a crazy, non-competitive deck that could utilize her unique abilities.

Pros of Beguiler:-Possible creature steal every turn without any T&Cs ( i.e. you don't lose the creature after Beguiler dies... )-Tribal support ( human )-In blue, the color of counter and control, allowing you to build up to 5 and protect her once she makes her appearance. Also, you have some untap options in Standard now, allowing you to steal multiple creatures in a turn.-In color we have Talrand, who is very competent in swarming the board with tokens...

Cons:- She's a 1/1 for 5CMC. Need I say more?- She has no way to protect herself.- If she's the only one on the field... Enjoy your supply of mana dorks as their beater kills you...

With all this in mind, I set out to build a deck. I settled on U/W because I desperately need the control and protection to last until T5 and protect the pretty lady that's the linchpin of my deck :P White has access to Faith's Shield and token generators such as Thraben Doomsayer who conveniently happens to be a Human.

What do we want to achieve with Beguiler of Wills ? For the first 5 or so turns, we play control and tempo gain, Azorius Charm ing their guys or locking them down with Fiend Hunter, slowly building up a large army with Thraben Doomsayer and Talrand, Sky Summoner. Leaving mana open to hexproof/counter, we drop the lady herself. Next turn you can enjoy grabbing your opponent's big fatty while swinging with your 6+ tokens! :D While this deck definitely won't stand up to competitive tournament play, it's a fun exercise in thought.

In color we not only have Talrand, the Invisble Stalker and Call to the Kindred combo can help you find Beguiler and any other humans rapidly.

Talrand, Sky Summoner gives you a 2/2 flying chump for every counter or tempo you play, which is key as Beguiler needs a small army to start grabbing creatures from the other team.

Downsize shrinks creatures allowing for an easy steal, as well as spawning a Drake token with Talrand out.

Dissipates and Negates help stall for time and protect your dudes, as well as spawning more Drakes to help steal things.

Azorius Charm for tempo gain and draw.

Hidden Strings combo'd with Invisible Stalker gives you ramp by untapping lands, pseudo-vigilance for your creatures and extra ability spam from Thraben Doomsayer and Beguiler of Wills .

Hands of Binding locks down creatures with Invisible Stalker and triggers Talrand.

Midnight Haunting spawns chumps and supplements your army for Beugiler's ability.

Moorland Haunt builds up creature presence if any of my guys get killed. I'll stick to two for color fixing issues.

I considered adding these into the deck, but they didn't quite make the cut in my opinion:

Champion of the Parish is bonkers in aggro decks, but I needed more creatures instead of one large one. You could add him in as a back up plan if you can't draw Beguiler.

Captain of the Mists seemed very tempting. A chance to reuse Beguiler in a turn, or to tap down opposing creatures repeatedly? The mana cost on his ability seemed rather prohibitive, since I wanted to increase my creature count by at least one every turn.

This is a relatively budget deck, so I'm not too keen on including Geist of Saint Traft. Like I said regarding Champion, I prefer increasing creature count than just using big beaters, although modifications to fit aggro could be done.
