Made a couple changes. After some playtesting, the Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip did not perform great in this deck. The Citadel Castellan was ok, but I came across some Managorger Hydras and WOW. They are perfect for this deck.

Let me know what you think and +1 if you like!!

I've made a few more minor changes, and I'm feeling a lot better about this deck. For a $45 deck, I feel it's pretty good. Added a few Dromoka's Commands to the sideboard and tried to fix the curve a little. It was just a little too top heavy to be effective against a good aggro deck.

Dromoka's Command seems really good in this deck and even Collected Company would probably work well with all the 3 and under drops you have. But I do understand it's budget. That's why no Mana Confluence or Windswept Heath though both would work really well.

More realistic ideas would just be to drop the count of Scale Blessing by 1 and add in another Feat of Resistance. I made a deck that was focused more on the counters from Heroic and Theros but with Hardened Scales in it, but there's a couple cards from there that could help here as long as you're not going post-rotation already. Also Tuskguard Captain would be perfect for getting the last points of damage across.

First of the Ordeals are pretty handy, Ordeal of Nylea and Ordeal of Heliod both can work pretty well and pretty quickly to boost up your creatures and either find you land or gain you life. The second suggestion from that deck would be Reap What Is Sown.

Cool deck, I like it!

I think you're probably right about taking one Scale Blessing out for another Feat of Resistance. I just love Scale Blessing so much lol. I really wanted to put some Windswept Heath in, but at $10 each, I didn't want to take it so far out of budget. Also, I have some Dromoka's Command in the sideboard already.

I would LOVE to put in the Ordeals and the Reap, but I'm trying to keep this ok for post rotation in October.

The Tuskguard Captain has definitely been something I've thought about, but wasn't sure about having him AND Abzan Falconer. Do you think I should have all three of the each creature with a +1 counter guys in there, or should I try trading out one of my Abzan guys for the Tuskguard?

I like this deck, +1.

Since Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit is Legendary, I suggest running only 2 or 3 and adding 1 or 2 more Abzan Falconers. In my G/W Counters deck, I am often able to fly in for the win after dropping the Falconer. He doesn't enter with counters, but he does have Outlast and all your creatures evasion is better at creating a win condition than just a simple Bolster 1 effect.

In my playtesting, I found that Valorous Stance simply works better than Feat of Resistance. You don't get counters with Valorous Stance but you can still save a creature but also you can destroy major threats.

I am sure Scale Blessing is great with this deck, but I think its a little slow for what you're trying to do. Putting Dromoka's Command in the maindeck instead of Scale Blessing would make this deck much stronger.

Scale Blessing is a 4 cost win most of the time. I will generally have 4-5 creatures on the board already with flying and/or lifelink and drop Scale Blessing to add anywhere from 6 to 20 counters at once depending on the number Hardened Scales. I do like the removal utility of Valorous Stance so I may put some in and drop one Anafenza out again and maybe one more Scale Blessing. It's just so nice to have her on the board to hit those guys who don't come into play with counters so I immediately have the counter to drop Avatar of the Resolute.

Some ideas for this: it's been a Hardened day's night

So I tested Valorous Stance and I still prefer Feat of Resistance myself. I did sideboard Inspiring Call and moved the Dromoka's Command to main. I also added back in the Dromoka Captain and reduced Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit and upped the Abzan Falconer one more and put the Hidden Dragonslayer back in. I had to take Scale Blessing down one more, but I feel like that's probably ok since it's meant to be a bomb, and not played regularly.

Harbynger, does Blossoming Sands not slow you down?

August 28, 2015 9:59 p.m.

Harbynger says... #12

syandell86, In this deck, I find I would rather drop a Blossoming Sands first turn and be able to have either mana doubled on turn 2 and possibly both on 3 than to drop a single color mana. Especially since I have Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit and Avatar of the Resolute. I may have no play first turn, but I open more options I feel turn 2 and 3.

Plus, I'm going for budget in this deck, so doing something like Windswept Heath just isn't in budget. I have put it in the maybeboard though in case someone doesn't care about budget.

I had Brave the Sands in here a while ago, but with having 4 Hardened Scales I decided it was just too many enchantments, and Hardened Scales is too important to this deck not to run 4 of them. Thanks for the suggestion though!

fair enough, im definitely gonna build this deck, i love it! +1.

You're right bpin1 I should definitely try that :) I will do some playtesting with it and see how it goes.

I'm looking over the deck, and I'm not sure what I should remove to put in Gleam of Authority. Any suggestions?

Scale Blessing is a superior card that you're already using. Gleam of Authority doesn't give counters, it just gives +1/+1. I think what you have is better. Harbynger

You could remove Dromoka Captain? It does kind of the same thing.

Harbynger says... #22

Actually, Dromoka Captain was the creature I was most interested placing this on lol. Most of the other creatures are important for other reasons, but being able to give the Captain vigilance and a bunch more strength would make him pretty awesome! So now I can attack to bolster and use him to defend, and he has first strike and all the extra power from Gleam of Authority. That card would be good on anyone, but particularly potent on the Captain.

Harbynger says... #23

He could also attack for a bolster, and then tap for an extra bolster... that would actually be a pretty awesome card on the Dromoka Captain!

Dromoka captain still remains a turn 3 starting low 1/1 ( 2/2 if you get Ana) easy target for black or red decks. 2 ainok survivalists would play better control since Origin alot based on artifacs. one thing Selesnya lack is proper control, check out my deck, i shove early game and keep alot of board control thx to Jeskai barrier : http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/hardened-scales-bolster/
