Sideboard

Artifact (1)

Instant (9)

Sorcery (2)

My current Standard deck. I took a more midrange approach to GW aggro. It is post-rotation, excepting Giant Growth, but I plan on replacing that with Titanic Growth when September rolls around.

Need tips on whether to play Mistcutter Hydra and Temple of Plenty. Also, sideboarding help!

The early game pressure will be kicked off with either Soldier of the Pantheon or Sunblade Elf . Soldier is one of the best one-drops in the format, and Sunblade Elf will almost always be a turn 2 2/2 attacking for 2. Plus, its 5 mana ability can come in handy in desperate situations for long games. Giant Growth is the last one-drop in the list, and that is for combat tricks, of course. Both on the offensive and defensive side of the board, Giant Growth turns the tides. Turn 2 for 5 or a lucky 8 damage exceeds even red in this format. Just as well, my other one-drops easily trade for a much larger crature such as Polukranos, World Eater later in the game.

Now onto 2-drops. First off is Fleecemane Lion . I am never more satisfied than a turn 2 Fleecemane. It's great early pressure, and if the game happens to go long enough, can become virtually impossible to get rid of. Raise the Alarm is a fantastic card. It is both chump blockers, early pressure, and a combat trick. Setessan Tactics is the last 2-drop in the deck. I had been on the fence about this card for a long while, but I decided that it deserves a spot. It is fantastic for spot removal, but can get rid of a number of things if I get a hold of the mana. It also gives +1/+1, which I think is overlooked. It can target any number of creatures, and is effective both offensively and defensively. Also serves as a "block" for fliers that I can't deal with.

3-drops! This is the part in the game where plays are made. Brimaz, King of Oreskos. Great card, makes more creatures which is always a plus, and is an instant target for kill spells when he enters the battlefield. The Vigilance on both him and his followers is fantastic for blocking, because I plan on attacking every turn. Boon Satyr is the next for the stage. Boon Satyr is AMAZING when used at instant speed. You can leave mana open for an imaginary combat trick to fool with your opponent, and after they don't attack, drop a different type of trick. Even a trade for one of their bombs is a great 1 for 1 trade.Lastly is Banishing Light. Banishing Light is the reliable way this deck deals with large fliers and trampling green creatures. Any pesky Elspeth, Sun's Champions on the other side of the board can also be easily dealt with.

There are also a few 4-drops in this list. One being the famous Polukranos, World Eater. Polukranos isn't really used for his monstrosity ability in this deck. The 5/5 for 4 is fantastic as it is and the monstrosity is just another amazing combat trick to be abused when I have the opportunity. Last is Ajani Steadfast. This may seem slightly unnecessary, but Ajani can gain me the life I need, make all my small guys slightly less so, and keep me in the game if she ever ultimates (probably not though).

For 5-drops I am counting Boon Satyr 's Bestow ability. This is great for extra damage, a tricky trickster of a block, a trickier trickster of a block, and still survives wrath.

The 6-drop in here is the fabled and legendary Elspeth, Sun's Champion. She protects herself, can get rid of huge board presence on the other side, and is game over if she reaches her ultimate. The 6 CMC may seem far fetched, but in playtesting she has performed as well as I would hope.

Last card is Mistcutter Hydra. The reason I am playing this card is because it has haste, and becomes as big as I make it. A turn 5 4/4 haste is a great deal if I'm running low on gas.

Thank you for reading, watching, and commenting, and don't forget to +1!
