Finally, someone else who acknowledges Tymaret! Have you considered Athreos, God of Passage?

Have you considered Act of Treason? You could take your opponents creature, hit them with it, then sac it to Tymaret, or Butcher.

Seeker of the Way is a great early play with the Prowess and Lifelink you could consider. Not essential, but good.

I think Sorin, Solemn Visitor is a must in this deck.

I do feel like I've been seeing more of Tymaret recently. This makes me happy.

@Obake - Seeker of the Way is a good card, but I am wanting to lean more towards the sacrifice mechanic with Tymaret, Murder King as my 2 drop. Sorin, Solemn Visitor will definitely be added to the deck once I get my hands on some.
@Scytec - I have thought about this idea with Jeering Instigator. There's no doubt it's a complete game changer when you pull it off, but how often will that happen? The idea of this deck is to have the strong backbone of the traditional mardu deck with a sacrifice subtype for spice! I'm scared adding a big sacrifice mechanic will weaken the decks core. I will playtest them out and see if the deck still flows well. Thanks for the comments! :D

I feel like Harness by Force would be better than Act of Treason because of the strive. Dictate of Erebos might help get rid of their creatures while you sacrifice yours. Maybe some Elspeth, Sun's Champion to generate more things to sacrifice?

I'm testing the jeering instigators in a deck like this now. I'll let you know how it works out. God of passage is good here

Ya I agree, god of passage is good here. I am even thinking about running two of them. Let me know if the instigators work. I'm scared of adding those in fear of becoming too combo oriented.

Bloodsoaked Champion could have a nice home here.

Definitely. Also, perhaps, add Monastery Mentor

I really want to play with Monastery Mentor, but I don't own any so I'm waiting for them to go down in price until I get some.

Totally liking this deck idea! +1!

But I do however recommend Bloodsoaked Champion. His home is right here in this deck! Cast him, sac him, attack, raid, sac him, repeat. It's so fun and can actually work!

I absolutely think that you should consider a couple Raise the Alarm, since it's Instant speed (cast then block then sac). It can easily replace the Chained to the Rocks which I don't think are needed as you got Crackling Doom. Also maybe chuck 1 or 2 Mardu Charm into the Sideboard considering it does get some tokens that have First Strike (good for blocking) and can kill a Courser of Kruphix which is probs the highest toughness on a creature you should mostly see (I know there's stuff like Polukranos, but he ain't as common to see anymore...).

I agree with the Bloodsoaked Champion suggestion. You could also add some Flamewake Phoenix. Having a Butcher of the Horde or a pumped up Goblin Rabblemaster in play will bring back the Flamewake Phoenix for a cheaper cost. Plus haste and flying. +1 from me.

This deck is really cool, love sac themes. But seriously, get yourself playlets of Bloodsoaked Champion and Flamewake Phoenix. those will do wonders for any deck like this. also check out Purphoros, God of the Forge, you could pull some serious shenanigans with him and one of the two from earlier. +1 from me.

Pretty well balanced here except for the 2 Hordeling Outburst paired with the 4 Butcher of the Horde and no Stoke the Flames. I would sideboard the Roast and cut the Raise the Alarm for 1 or 2 more Hordeling Outburst. Otherwise you're going to find yourself looking for sacrifices you really don't want to make when it comes to break out Butcher of the Horde.

And I definitely agree about adding Bloodsoaked Champion to this deck. He's become one of my favorite cards and a perfect sacrifice for Butcher of the Horde if you have no tokens around. Tymaret, the Murder King is good but he basically does the same thing as the Champion for less mana and with no tokens, his sacrifice ability can become an issue as well. I'd also cut the 3rd Outpost Siege for something a bit better and sideboard the Bile Blight for something better as well.

Check out my deck if you're interested. I'm a big Mardu guy and I'm currently trying to work on balancing out my mana and seeing you include Tymaret, the Murder King made me think he might be something I need. Here is my Mardu Deck

Thanks for your input! I've tried bloodsoaked champion and I don't like his position right now. And besides being butcher food he doesn't do too much. I went down from 3 to 2 tymaret but I think he's fine as a two of to give the deck some additional reach to end a game plus it keeps the sac theme relevant :P. You're right about raise the alarm (I wanted to try it over outburst, but the additional token is too good) outpost siege is possibly the best card in the deck so I don't think I want to go down on those. Bile blight was added in place of lightning strike for my meta to kill other token decks and hornet queen tokens (which this deck can't beat without them.) I could run scouring sands in the sideboard instead but I want to try blights in the main as a more general catch all for a few fnms. I appreciate you commenting and I'll continue to consider your advice as I get more experience with the deck :)

What about Dictate of Erebos. With the sac theme this would devastate any deck!

audicia45 says... #22

yeah the Dictate would be a nice sideboard option i think or a possible mainboard if it can fit
