UpperDeckerTaco That actually sounds pretty sexy as hell. I am going to look into that now. Thank you very much for the insight!

running a more mid-range version of thiswatery grave... no seriously. try Dictate of Kruphix with Chasm Skulker reliable card draw is great fun. also you might want a board wipe like spell such as AEtherspouts or Whelming Wave or Curse of the Swine

grizzell Thanks for the suggestions. I have played this deck several times, and I have been thinking to bump it up to a mid range style. A board clearing spell would be great, especially when dealing with damned Rabble Red decks.

Given how cheap Master of Waves is right now, I would jam 4 in here without hesitation. Probably removing 2 walls and 2 vortex elemental.

Boza YUP! I'm currently out to sea, but when I get in port I intend to pick up a playset of Master of Waves . He'll replace the Thassa's Devourer set I have in the deck.

Maybe add Encrust . Psuedo-removal and devotion in one. Still laughing about the time I played it on a Master of the Feast

MTG_Orca Yeah, it has been a work in progress. I understand the budget life, though. It is why this take has been an ongoing project. I couldn't buy this deck outright. I had to get a few things at a time through trades and purchases.

wylie72 Wait, so it would count towards my devotion? I didn't even think about that! That is awesome! I do believe I will be adding that Encrust to the deck this afternoon.

do you think this deck is still semi-viable? will it be able to compete at a local?
September 30, 2014 6:08 p.m.
with Shipbreaker Kraken I'd go to 24 land. And I'm unsure of Whelming Wave . It seems to hit everything but your kraken, and if you have him out you're winning already. Also, this is screaming for another 2 Thassa, God of the Sea . But that said, I think mono blue is still competitive, and this deck in on the right track.

Shipbreaker Kraken seems really slow :( what could i replace it with?

As a few have said before you need those Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx however I would personally replace your Quickling with Military Intelligence and Omenspeaker with Hypnotic Siren while yes the Omenspeaker allows scry the siren will allow a 1/1 flyer turn one or a turn 7 taking your creature as well as I would cut your Dissolve or lessen the amount for Nullify or Negate the reason is because of the huge turn 3 you have and turn 4 rendering them useless till turn 5 or 6. Your sideboard I think should be based around control more than creatures to protect your 1/1 chasm skulker or your 2/1 master of waves. However I love the Stormtide Leviathan mix with Whelming Wave +1 just some friendly tips :) hopefully useful

Might I suggest Illusory Angel , great card especially if you want to run creatures. I have been considering it for my blue/red deck for some time no, and I don't run too many creatures.

Why not add some Taigam's Scheming . Gives you a 5 card advantage for scry

My friend runs a mono blue deck that is similar to this, I even have a blue deck with a splash of green. If I remember he runs 4x Chasm Skulker, 4x Void Snare, 2 to 4 Polymorphist's Jest, 1 to 2 Thassa, God of the Sea, 3 to 4 Master of Waves, 1 Stormtide Leviathan for shiggles, 4x Dakra Mystic, at least those are the staples of the deck. And it works pretty well. Think low cost counter spells for protecting your creatures. The Polymorphist's Jest definitely helps and can be very funny against an agro player.

1x Hall of Heroes naming blue would work well here.

No Bident of Thassa? I think I'd run that instead of Dictate of Kruphix. Also, did you find Prognostic Sphinx didn't work in this strategy?
UpperDeckerTaco says... #1
Ordeal of Thassa can wreak havoc if it is placed on an already pumped Chasm Skulker . A 2 drop to draw 2 cards? Might be worth a shot, and it even pumps your skulker even more.
