Halloween Leovold

is a hyper competitive EDH deck built for the No Banned List EDH format variant:

A creepy card advantage monster that eats Weavers alive.

Given the nature of the deck, Natural Order targets, as well as entomb targets and lack of overall deckspace. The gifts, intuition, survival of the fittest, buried alive. I went with a ooze and reanimator package. The colors BUG offer me artifact hate and that is great in this format. Leovold himself stops early wheels, card draw, recall, library, remora abuse and more. He also turns our wheels into a 2 card combo.

I compared the combo to flash-hulk while flash hulk is faster, it did require an extra card everytime. Leovold + Wheel is like a 1 card combo. This means we get an extra card. That could be a Null Rod, Karn, Root Mazex etc that saves us against other combo decks. With all the drawpower they have we'll want to rely on Leovold to shutdown other decks with his redudancy wheel package.

So by using a 1 card combo, and a combo package that uses less cards than a flash-hulk package we get more draw, stax, and ramp. Which is crucial against such fast and deadly decks.

Win conditions: Leo + Wheel Entomb + Reanimate effect (put big guy into yard and recur) targets: gridelbrand, Jin, Sylvan, Bane of progress

Survival/Buried Alive Necrotic Ooze Combo (ooze + phyrexian Dev, walking ballista)

intuition piles (3 big guys) 3 reanimate spels, or all 3 of the ooze combo) then reanimate + hardcast Phy Dev.

How to play: Usually you want to stax early, or put down leovold early. Or attempt to combo, then setup leovold. Another route is to setup a regular card draw engine to build into your threats (i.e. Sylvan Library). Then just kill them with any win conditions you put together. Wheel and/or card draw engines to get you through the early game. For best results try to stick a card draw engine, or leovold into a wheel early. Then follow up with attempts at comboing. Avoid comboing without answering any graveyard hate on the board first.

Strangely enough the deck can hardcast the big guys fairly easily. Thanks to cards like Channel, Dark Ritual, Mana Vault, Fast Bond, and more. Plus the powerful card draw provided by Leovold.
