I feel most nec builds just aim for the win and don't use the win more cards. Why not add Glistening Oil Phyresis and Tainted Strike? Most players will see your general and assume, and assume correctly, that your deck is going to do what all builds of him do. Wheels and pings. So they will save enough removal to destroy your game plan if it's not guarded well. You're running 6 counters and that's kinda it so unless you're tutoring for nothing but counter chances are you'll have 1 counter in hand. Basically adding infect is gonna let you do what you want to do within one turn and usually very early on in the game

Also you said Elder Mastery didn't work. Would Helm of the Ghastlord? Just curious.

My earlier message got erased when I cleared by cache because I forgot to post it so what I am about to post to you two may have errors as this was the previous revision. XP

jandrobard

Elder Mastery does "work" if you mean the combo with Neku or Fate but doesn't work well enough for me with its high CMC and other reasons already stated. Helm of the Ghastlord follows the same problem of attracting removal to Neku losing the enchantment in the process and is useless if he or Unraveler is not around.

Deckologist

The reasons I don't run those effects is because if I don't get in two wheels and it gets removed/interrupted (someone removes the enchantment or creature after the first wheel) then all the damage I dealt with the first wheel is completely nullify because I can no longer deal infect damage and usually by the time I am ready to cast two wheels at once I am usually already setup to win on regular damage alone since I will have other ways to damage the oppenent. In addition to all that, only Neku and Fate can use it so it follows the same suit as enchantments such as Elder and Helm. Spot removal exist but its not plentiful players will waste removal and other cards on threats that are active. I expect to lose Neku at least once per game and a few of my enchantments as well but I can usually push on through it.

To both of you, Thanks for commenting! :3

for me Helm of the Ghastlord is good in a nekusar deck, you just wait for the right timing to enchant it with nekusar, if you have a Winds of Change or any wheel effect, enchant the helm then cast the wheel effect, after that your opponents want to resign because they can't have any cards anymore because they discard whatever they draw, also you draw for each of their draws and that's why for me it's a good card :D +1 for a fellow nekusar, cheers! :D

You might consider adding Kederekt Parasite, Akki Lavarunner, or Whirlpool Warrior? Possibly Nightscape Familiar to help you get the multicolor spells out easier.

Blizzicane says... #7

dejrgne - It is really good but I just don't like the fact I have to have Nekusar or Fate out AND have to have some sort of wheel ready in order to get its value out before any opponent with their brain on takes care of it via removal or counterspells and I get 2 for one'd but maybe I will reconsider it maybeeeeee. Thanks for the +1 and NEKU 4 LIFE! >:3

Raging_Squiggle - Kederekt Parasite was in here but was removed in favor of artifact ramp due to how it did nothing without Nekusar. Akki Lavarunner is way too expensive for what it does and not to mention it actual has to hit the opponent and relies on Nekusar to be there. Whirlpool Warrior was in here but it was subpar compared to the rest of my wheels. Nightscape Familiar could be considered but I much prefer artifact ramp over creature ramp because creatures usually will get caught up in some sort of boardwipe. Thanks for the suggestions anyway. :3

I absolutely love this deck. Nek is by far my favorite commander, and I just love seeing him in decks like this. I had several suggestions, for all of them they were in at some point or another. One that I didn't see though was Otherworld Atlas. It fits the artifact usage in the deck, can produce insane card draw over just a few turns, and also forms an infinite combo with Mind Over Matter. Other than that you already have it or considered it.

So it sounds like you don't like to have to many enchantments to go on your Nekusar, but I have really enjoyed having Sigil of Sleep around. It might not be the route you want to go but I suggest trying to fit in Swiftfoot Boots and/or Whispersilk Cloak. the boots are just a downgraded Lightning Greaves but are still super helpful and the cloak can be really nice if you have Whispering Madness ciphered onto Nekusar.

Podma101 - I already have Temple Bell so I didn't find Otherworld Atlas necessary as I don't want to rely on the infinite combo too much and Atlas cost one more mana but it can be abused more with Mind Over Matter but by itself I much rather have Temple Bell.

oakenshild - Pretty much... I hate auras that don't return when my creature dies unless I am running voltron or something like that. I am sort of considering Sigil of Sleep since it only costs one mana but doing so will really get Nekusar killed unless I have protection ready but even then I can't hold off removal from the other 3 players. If I were to add more protection I would't use the boots for reasons you already explained but I would add more counterspells like Turn Aside and definitely Force of Will (but that one is a bit too expensive).

goblinguiderevealpls - Teferi's Puzzle was in here but it was removed for another wheel because I couldn't control when I wanted to shuffle which cause me to dump hands I wanted to keep. Past in Flames was in here but it was removed as I already have enough graveyard recursion and it would often be a dead card. Nin, the Pain Artist is too slow and is quite mana intensive for what she does. Altar of the Brood is not very useful as I don't plan to mill my opponents out and everyone I usually play with either runs Immortality or some other type of shuffle effect like Eldrazi which makes mill extremely ineffective. Crypt Incursion is interesting but if I was to run a life gain effect other than the one I have now it would probably be Sangromancer as it performs double duty and boardwipes make it smile even if it dies with it.

Anyways, thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions and the upvote from Podma! :3

Psychosis Crawler has turn meh for me as of late and I am going to be replacing him with Niv (who has not been seen since the second or third iteration of the deck) to see what he has to offer once more. :3

oakenshild says... #13

If Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind is going in I would have to be mad to not suggest putting in Ophidian Eye and/or Curiosity. This would again require you having some form of creature protection so I'm not sure if it is what you want, but it is a super good (killer some might even say) combo. Both are also good when attached to your commander so they have dual purpose.

March 5, 2015 12:37 p.m.

i would also recommend Cabal Coffers because it syncronizes INSANELY well with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth for black mana ramp

March 5, 2015 1:30 p.m.

also MindcrankDuskmantle Guildmage infinite mill combo with Bloodchief Ascension

March 5, 2015 1:33 p.m.

Blizzicane says... #16

goblinguiderevealpls - Cabal Coffers wouldn't work he because I run very few swamps. Urborg would make it insane but that is relying on hoping to get one card to make it work and I would not want to waste a tutor on a land. I am aware that Mindcrank and Duskmantle go infinite with Bloodchief but by themselves Mindcrank and Duskmantle Guildmage are weak and practically do nothing considering mill does not effect most decks as they all are running shuffle effects.

oakenshild - I may possible add in Curiosity seeing as though its only a one drop but I still have an hate for auras and drawing a mouthful of cards at once does catch the eye of everyone else. However, Niv did create another combo with in this deck via Mind Over Matter so that opens up another way to win.

I have a Nekusar, the Mindrazer deck that makes someone take 65 damage per draw regardless of who is drawing.

a few more suggestions to the deck which i really like btw, i havce my own nekusar deck but its much slower and im probably gonna speed it up. as far as counters and pain this deck seems very efficient. counters Spell Crumple is amazing in commander when cast on a commander and is always fun to do :P. Phyrexian Tyranny is a pain a friend recently recommended thats extremely spiky at only 3 mana, it does hurt you somewhat but just some other ideas i had +1

March 7, 2015 10:20 a.m.

Blizzicane says... #21

goblinguiderevealpls - I did have Phyrexian Tyranny in here once along with Spiteful Visions but I took them out as the life lost was a bit too high and now that I added more card draw there is no way for them to fit back in. I save all my counters purely for countering anything that would directly hurt my plan or that are game ending and seeing as I don't usually have more than 2 mana open after the end of my turn 3 mana counters wouldn't fit in here. :3

March 11, 2015 5:08 p.m.

so you basically want to be as big as asshole as possible? lol my version of this deck is 10x slower and my group still hates me for playing nekusar.. in that case, i recommend Words of Waste and if you can afford it Timetwister ;)

MindAblaze says... #23

So a theme I see in the comments is a reluctance to add anything that requires some extra protection. I'm assuming it's because most protection tends to be pretty situational. What are your thoughts on Spellskite? I use it in my Nekusar deck and it's always a valuable play. It's much less situational than something like Turn Aside, and can function as a blocker if need be.

goblinguiderevealpls - I just love causing chaos to people's hands and killing everyone at once of course >:3. I don't really doing any wheeling unless I really need to or I have enough mana to just combo out so I don't get picked on too much unless someone has some beef with me from a previous game (I have already won turn 4 once with some crazy ass ramp and Waste Not which is the best card in this deck imo and half of my wins). Timetwister would have been the first card to be in here if it wasn't for its price and would have replaced Time Reversal as said in the OP. I keep forgetting to ask if I can proxy for it but I am against using proxies myself unless I am going to buy it but honestly I am not sure if I ever will but I will try anyway. Don't really have space for Words of Waste considering I usually use up all my mana each turn except for 1-2 to play counterspells or instant tutors. Thanks for your continued input. :3

MindAblaze - huh you know I never thought of Spellskite... I did have more protection in this deck (in the last version) but it was going too slow (it seems like I say this line after every version) and the longer I take to combo off the more of a chance I have of dying so I added more speed in the form of mana rocks which works extremely well with Waste Not with the ton of mana I have after wheels to keep playing mana rocks and just out right win. I prefer counterspells to regular protection cards like kite and Lightning Greaves which will probably be removed after I some how obtain a Force of Will because I can do so much more with them and sometimes I don't want wrath to kill my creatures or sometimes other dangerous things show up that need to be dealt with and then there is Cyclonic Rift which is the bane of this deck as nothing shuts it down harder and also sometimes the savior if I am playing it because wheeling away cards right after is one of the best feelings this deck has to offer. :3

Curiosity seems relly good in this deck. Also Damnable Pact has a lot of versitility it can be card draw or with Nekusar out a double Fireball! Super cool deck
