Hanna, Graveyard Navigator

Commander / EDH

redmage311

This Hanna, Ship's Navigator deck is basically my pride and joy. The idea is to mill yourself enough that Hanna becomes a repeatable tutor, with pillowfort elements and artifacts to sacrifice for card advantage until you eventually get to a combo win.

The primary wincon is straight out of Innistrad-era Standard and completely convoluted.

The countermagic is there to protect your win; Elixir of Immortality is for in case something unexpected happens (I have killed myself inadvertently while trying to combo off before).

Propaganda, Norn's Annex, Teferi's Moat, and the like are there to discourage people from attacking you, since the deck is otherwise squishy to early aggro.

The best part about running Hanna is that you can easily abuse her graveyard recursion. Traumatize, Chronic Flooding, Increasing Confusion, and the like are there to give you access to your entire deck. Trading Post, Snapcaster Mage, Tragic Poet, and the like all help Hanna get your cards back.

Recurring Mindslaver is obviously pretty mean, but otherwise meh cards like Azorius Cluestone and Dispeller's Capsule provide repeatable, incremental card advantage with Hanna.

Trading Post might be the best non-combo card in the deck, as it does everything you'd need for the deck: it makes chump blockers, gets your artifacts back, and provides a sac outlet for Scuttling Doom Enginewhich you can then get back with Hanna.

Finally, the ultimate Hanna combo that earns her all of the hate: Opalescence + Parallax Wave . Opalescence makes Parallax Wave into a creature. Exile four creatures with Parallax Wave. While the exile triggers are on the stack, have Parallax Wave exile itself. The first trigger that you should have resolve is "When Parallax Wave leaves the battlefield, each player returns to the battlefield all cards he or she owns exiled with Parallax Wave."because nothing has been exiled yet except Parallax Wave, Parallax Wave comes back into play. Then, the 4 exile triggers resolve, removing the creatures permanently. Rinse, repeat, cackle maniacally.

For added "fun," throw Enchanted Evening into the mix. With Opalescence, all lands are enchantments, and all enchantments are creatures, which makes all lands 0/0. Hooray Armageddon!
