Hapatra's Eternal Journey

Standard BRGW

Sideboard

Like -1/-1 counters? Like snakes? Like badass ladies and creepy critters controlling the board with removal to spare? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, this might be the deck for you!

Edit 1/21/18: At long last, Green/Black gets support that isn't antithetical to Hapatra's plan! In Ixalan, Golgari was granted a lovely planeswalker (Vraska, Relic Seeker) a vague mechanical plan (Explore) and not much synergy at all. Now, even in Rivals limited, this color pair has a lot more going on, specifically when it comes to graveyards and reanimation.

With the introduction of Journey to Eternity  , we finally have a non-Liliana-based reanimation outlet in Standard! I've never been super hyped for graveyard shenanigans, but given I'm always looking for ways to fight the battle against control, I couldn't be more excited.

The normal combos are still in the deck, such as Ammit Eternal + Obelisk Spider and Archfiend of Ifnir + Key to the City but Journey to Eternity   gives us tools to not only ramp and color fix (crucial tools in a splashy deck like this) but also to uncounter-ably rebuild the board after a wipe, or just get back things pitched to Key to the City. The reanimation cost is a little high, but the value of getting a blocker (or a Hapatra) back (at instant speed!) in the late game is incredible. I can't wait to try this out at Standard Showdowns and FNMs.
