I am pleased to say that I have started to experiment with decks outside of my comfort zone (my comfort zone consisting of Tribal Merfolk). This one I envisioned after gleaning Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons. Originally, I always felt like -1/-1 counters were an inefficient way to blight opponent's creatures that really just need to die immediately. Hapatra and the materialization of this deck have changed my opinion. There are so many things you can do with -1/-1 counters outside of expensive infect decks.

For example, we can create tokens with both Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and Nest of Scarabs. If we use these creatures as blockers, we can sack them to Carnifex Demon and as the late Billy Mays once said, "Wham"! Once our tokens receive the -1/-1 counters, they will die and then they are created again. It's like mass regeneration, or even like vigilance, since the creatures can come back uptapped after an attack.

We could also take the incremental growth route with Winding Constrictor and Animal Sanctuary, giving our snake tokens and Blight Mamba two counters per use instead of one.

Rather than chip away at an opponent's creatures with -1/-1 counters until they die, we can relieve the pressure with Kulrath Knight and simply lock them out of the game, assuming they play a creature-heavy deck. If the player does not play creatures then the only targets for our -1/-1 counters are on our own. Of course, if they play little or no creatures then they will be punished by all of our creatures with infect.
