Okay, so cyameded does not fit here. You have only one card that officially "targets" without killing off your cards...that would be your Coordinated Assault the rest are burn spells that I hope are not targetting cyamede....

so either go heroic or not at all

I have Coordinated Assault , Boros Charm , and I did have Weapon Surge . What would you suggest?

Maybe you could drop 1x Martial Glory and 1x Brave the Elements for 2x Coordinated Assault ?

I have been going back and forth with Coordinated Assault At times it works well, and others it is a dead card. I will try it again thanks for the tips.

Some of the new Theros one drops w/heroic are pretty good, I forget their names at the moment.

My Boros heroic deck might give you some ideas: Superheroes

thankyou very much! How much does Firemane Avenger actually survive?

Maybe you can try Flames of the Firebrand just to activate those Heroics for just a small damage. :D

Firemane Avenger works pretty awesome and stays alive pretty well.

Brave the elements does not apply to Anax/Cymede's heroic ability due to it affecting you entire side of the field and not specifically targeting Anax/Cymede. Possibly "God's Willing". Same protection effect, but it specifically targets a creature and a bonus scry.

I like using Brave the Elements to push attackers through since they are all white.

Of course, I agree with Brave the Elements being a good card in this deck, it just doesnt help the Heroic part of Anax/Cymede that laoshan3337 said it would. But I do agree with his sentiment that you should either go Heroic all the way or not at all. Needing 10 cards just to power a tactic that you may not draw takes focus away from the fact that you want to buff you whole army and push. There are other cards that allow trample/upgrades that you can add that will allow you more room to put more creatures/mass ugrades. In fact, since you are running a lot of humans, why not put in 3 Cavalry Pegasus so that you dont even need trample, all your damge goes over thier heads! Just my thoughts though. :)

have you thought about Akroan Crusader and Purphoros, God of the Forge together?

hardc0re42 says... #16

I see what you are saying vigilante, but if i focus less on heroic then i might as well make it a minor sideline interaction instead of the key component. I have considered both of those Inces, but i might as well build a token deck if I go that route.

I will be testing the pegasus in place of firemane avenger and post results.

Legion's Initiative could be good for the sideboard. +1

I have been a longtime fan of my Boros deck, which has been rapidly deteriorating thanks to the recently retired decks from Standard (primarily artifact/enchant buffs) and the rather anti-Boros nature of Theros. It is quite a shame.

That being said, I applaud your effort in trying to preserve some semblance of "Boros." Unfortunately, R/W alone doesn't mean Boros in my book. As others have said, splitting your attention will only hurt the deck, so I fear with you have to pick a direction. Firemane Avenger I have been wondering about, because I personally shot for Wingsteed Rider for my flying + Heroic.

Bonds of Faith , if legal from the new duel deck, is a highly underrated card. It functions as either a cheap, heavy-hitting enchant that triggers heroic OR a modern-day Arrest. No clue why nobody runs it (unless it's not legal in Standard). Insight into this would be helpful! Good luck on your deck.

Findecano says... #21

Bah, nevermind Bonds of Faith is not legal, as it is not printed in a core set that is Standard-legal.

If you are going to play gidion you should main legion's initiative because you can Ult him quick where he would even be a 0 and normally do nothing but wipe the board clean, but instead activate legions initiative, exile creatures and the Ult Gideon now the creatures and mana gone enter combat and your crew returns haste swinging battalion yea.

You should drop the Gideon. I would play Anax and Cymede . It's an amazing 3 drop.

I have another deck that focuses on heroic. I feel strongly that you can't go halfway with heroic,

vinnyb803 says... #25

I think it will be a viable standard strategy. It just needs to be played around with. It would have been strong with Rancor , too bad that didn't work out.
