Shifting my deck Hark the Herald away from R/B/W to Junk midrange/control.

This deck features good lifegain/token synergies to stall on aggro and some abuse to beat control. It's a prototype deck that never made it beyond concept to an actual matchup at my LGS, but is one that I always thought had potential.

A disappointing finish — Sept. 22, 2014

Last night of standard at my LGS before rotation and a real disappointment. Went 0-2 in matches and 1-4 in games through two rounds. I received a "bye" in the third, which was oddly appropriate since that's what I said and went home. Both matches were against RDW. Round 1 I went 1-2 in matches and was a turn away in game one from the win. I won game two solidly. Game 3 I was stuck on 4 lands with a hand full of bombs after having to mull to 6. Round 2 0-2 against burn (same player as week before), game 1 also stuck on 4 lands, and game 2 I had to mull to six and then didn't draw into any of the billion lifegain cards.

So very disappointing in the fates of how it all played out, both in unlucky draws and not having the real chance to play the deck out completely. Such is life. I don't think there was any real fault with the deck and these are matchups I should have won, with tweaks this matchup would have been much better.

I will make a few changes to the sideboard now, as if I were truly tweaking the deck and use that for the last Showdown series of this standard (I haven't decided who I would play yet.
