Orzhov Humans:
The idea is that much of the powerful Orzhov cards, although formidable, costs way too much for the casual player or even a more competitive player with a strict budget. A strategy that hasn't really been utilized much, but is quite formidable, is playing Xathrid Necromancer with a human filled deck, getting zombie minions to replace the dead humans. And overwhelm.
Here is a sample game:
T1: Plains, Soldier of the PantheonT2: Swamp,
High Priest of Penance
T3: Any mana, Xathrid Necromancer
From this point, you flood the field with humans, who subsequently become zombies. But not until they have done their effects, such as destroying permanents, discarding instants/sorceries from your opponents.
Other important mechanics of this deck.
Draw Power: Read the Bones and Underworld Connections cost you life, but help you get those lands you desperately need or continue to flood the field with more humans.
Lifegain: Not as essential, but helps counteract the life lost by drawing. Viskopa Guildmage
Ordeal of Heliod
and Whip of Erebos all help you do exactly that. Obzedat, Ghost Council ends games.
Removal: Doom Blade and
High Priest of Penance
do just that, for cheap mana cost.
Back to life: Once all your humans have flipped to zombies, hit your opponent with one of these: [[Immortal Servitude. SInce most the humans are cheap, you can get back soldiers for 4 mana, viskopa/high priest for 5, and most importantly xathrid/sin collector for 6. And the death cycle continues.
I will be making a new budget deck for each guild. They will be out of the box, no cookie cutter decks from me!So far:
Orzhov: Haunted Humans (Budget)
Izzet: Fire and Ice (Budget)
Golgari: The Grass is always blacker (Budget)
