Have Fun Not Playing Spells! Control with a twist.

Modern*

teotherlegoguy

I've been looking for a fun deck to play in modern for a while now, but nothing really stuck out. Of courser I could hop on the band wagon and play Grixis Delver or some variation of Twin, but that's no fun, is it? Now I know that Jeskai control used to be very popular in the modern meta, but this is not just any Jeskai Control deck. First, let's talk about some of the typical control cards in the deck.

Path to Exile- I could play other removal spells, but this is still just the best answer any threat, even though it ramps your opponent a little.

Lightning Bolt- Duh.

Lightning Helix- Just a couple extra bolts with some relevant life gain.

Serum Visions- Good for finding cards you may need from a loosely kept hand, and can just be a pretty big tempo swing at times. RIP Treasure Cruise and Dig Through Time.

Sphinx's Revelation- Great card to top deck on turn 9 or 10 then just completely refill your hand and be ready for any top decks from your opponent. Not to mention the all so relevant life gain.

Mana Leak- Once again, duh. It answers early plays, but gets worse in the late game so only 3 of them.

Think Twice- This slot was close with Sleight of Hand , but Think Twice in the end just draws you more cards so that's why it's here.

Spell Snare- There are a lot of two mana cards in modern worth countering, so why not do it for one mana.

Spell Pierce- I'd play Negate, but modern is all about mana efficiency so, this ends up being a little better most of the time.

Electrolyze- With Delver decks coming back, this card can be a great two for one with perhaps a Delver and a Pyromancer]] while also drawing a card.

Supreme Verdict- You will occasionally get out top decked, or someone will manage to sneak a couple unanswered heavy hitters in, so this card is good for just mopping up those stragglers.

Then of course there are the lands, but those aren't worth talking about. Now you may be asking," Wait, where's Snapcaster Mage. Well, while that may not be in the deck, there's a reason. Isochron Scepter is our sudo Snapcaster Mage. While it can't recur Supreme Verdicts it can cast a Path to Exile every turn. That and one other card are what separate this deck from your typical Jeskai Control deck. That other card is a spicy one.

Silence- Tada!!!! Never thought you'd see this in a competitive modern deck did ya'. Well take a long look because you're seeing it now. While it may not be a great card on its own, imagine casting one of these every single turn with Isochron Scepter, hence the name of the deck. Watching the look on your opponent's face as they realize that they can't cast non-instant spells for the rest of the game is hilarious. I do realize that a lot of the best cards in modern can be cast at instant speed, but just think... are those cards good enough to kill you, and if they somehow are good enough, that's what the rest of the deck is for. Just Mana Leak their Lightning Bolts that they cast in response to your Silence.

Thanks for checking out the deck, make sure to leave suggestions, and have a wonderfully silent day!
