Thanks for the suggestions! Those cards were both on the original list and I ended up cutting them. Thromok isn't in line with my plan enough, but I really would like to use Assemble the Legion.
Any suggestions as to what I could cut for Assemble? I'm at the point where I don't see any easy cuts anymore.

Blitzak,
With all the usual disclaimers (I have no idea of your meta, or how the deck actually plays, etc), I have two thoughts on cuts:
- Maybe the Archetype of Endurance? It's a great card, but as an 8-drop, I'm not sure it's 60% better than the Assemble.
- Or maybe one of the any-land fetches? E.g., the Scapeshift if you don't alreasy have it. It's another awesome card too, but only if you need the extra any-land fetch.
Nice deck though; draw well!

Yeah I agree with Clay's suggestion and you have a lot of land fetch so swap one of them out for the Assemble the Legion and instead of the Archetype of Endurance I would put a Glaring Spotlight because it grants the hexproof if you really need it or it gives the opening for that final push if you need it. If you want more ideas take a look at my Call the Armies.

That was a good call on scapeshift, I cut it out. I like archetype though. Its one of my 3 birthing pod targets for Hazezon. Thanks for the advice!

+1! Great break down of your game plan. May I suggest you sort the cards by function? Kinda like I did here The Golden Company
February 4, 2016 10:17 a.m.
That type of organization does hell explain your thought process pretty well. I might try that out!
Question for you though, why did you decide against using any flicker effects?
February 4, 2016 2:34 p.m.
I'm not against it in any way. Bouncing Hazezon Tamar will double the tokens on your next upkeep for sure, but i'm usually tapped out the turn i cast him, and the following turn im more concerned with giving my sand warriors haste and +10/+10 to win with the 7 or so dorks that i do get off of my one trigger.
If I wasted a turn to have enough mana to get cute and bounce him, i may have already lost.
So my priority is to ramp, cast Hazezon, then pump my dorks and swing.

Clever idea using graveyard to ramp. Great deck, though Sharuum is displeased with Aura Shards ;) jk, have fun.

Hey, thanks for checking out my deck.
You should look at Martyr's Bond to maximize the efficiency of sac outlets (more on those below). Also, Chord of Calling would be a happy addition, or replacement for Green Sun's Zenith.
One thing I noticed is that Legion's Initiative is kind of hard on your board state, as it would exile your tokens permanently. I do realize it is meant to flash certain creatures in and out for ETB effects, but I don't really see a way to benefit from the loss of tokens. Maybe some sac outlets could help. Goblin Bombardment, Altar of Dementia, and Phyrexian Altar are some great choices.
February 16, 2016 10:54 p.m.
Hey! Thanks for the ideas. Both from here and your deck.
Martyr's bond is a great idea! I totally forgot about that card. I'll probably cut legion's initiative for it. Initiative was mainly there to flicker Hazezon, but I was already thinking it was weak.
Chord was in the deck but I couldn't find room for it. I ended up picking green sun's zenith over it. Turn one zenith to get dryad arbor is my favourite turn one play.
I was thinking of having more sac outlets, especially goblin bombardment, but Im not sure else to cut.
February 17, 2016 2:15 p.m.
Goblin Bombardment is okay but I prefer Ashnod's Altar, City of Shadows, High Market and Spawning Pit.
February 17, 2016 2:21 p.m.
Ashnod's Altar is what I wanted to say instead of Phyrexian Altar but forgot the name lol. And I mentioned Goblin Bombardment because it's a sac outlet that doesn't require some sort of activation, like mana cost or tapping, and it can be used in and of itself as a win con.

Nature's Lore is better than Spoils of Victory, IMO. Less mana, puts the card into play, and still hits Forest, Cinder Glade, Dryad Arbor, Savannah, Stomping Ground, Taiga, Temple Garden - all of your colors, in other words. Can't hurt to run both either.
I wouldn't recommend Muraganda Petroglyphs - my personal preference is avoid anything that helps my opponents. But it's something to consider, if you haven't already. Certainly not as good as some of the creature lords you've included, but then again, it wouldn't die to creature kill effects.
Evolutionary Leap requires an activation cost, but might be another sac outlet to consider.

I forgot Helm of Possession. Anytime I'm making tokens, I throw Helm in. And it would serve double purpose in being both creature control and a sac outlet for Hazezon.
February 22, 2016 2:08 p.m.
Thanks for the suggestions Berserk! I really need a copy of nature's lore. That's going on my short list.
I'd also like to try to find a spot for evolutionary leap. Seems really good.
Do you have any ideas at all for cuts? That's my main problem now.

Making cut choices is always the toughest part for me too. I don't see the number of big beaters that I would run a Blade of Selves for. I see that more for something like a Mayael the Anima deck where you're tossing out gigantic creatures, left-and-right. Try Evolutionary Leap in it's place. There's Greater Good too, which doesn't require any activation cost - big price ($) difference though, accordingly.
I really like the Sarkhon Vol inclusion. Gives Haste and pumps the team. Also cool is his second ability + a sac outlet. Speaking of sac outlets, have you considered High Market?

Since you're not running the Squirrel Nest + Earthcraft combo, maybe drop Earthcraft and try something else there like a Glare of Subdual.
February 23, 2016 2:31 p.m.
Blitzak,
I'm with BerserkWin on the Blade of Selves. I was super-excited about it at first, but it's costly mana-wise and expensive $-wise, Haz' needs haste to make it really worthwhile, and it's useless late-game when down to only one opponent.
Blitzak & BerserkWin,
BTW, I recently pulled my High Market for a City of Shadows ... it Exiles instead of sac'ing but that's worked out fine. And the extra mana-boost has been really nice.
February 23, 2016 6:07 p.m. Edited.
I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but Blade of Selves is there to make bunch of Hazezon copies. They all die, but I get the token triggers. If it doesn't work as well as I hope I'll probably take it out.
I had greater good in, but the main thing I'm sacing is Hazezon. I end up down a card unless I pump him.
I thought about squirrel nest, but I decided to not do infinite combos with this deck. My elf deck has lots of those, lol. Earthcraft is just there for getting more mana.
High market seems good, but city of shadows only taps if you exile? Hmm.
February 23, 2016 8 p.m.
Blitzak,
The idea on the City is to tap and then exile Haz' or any spare tokens (1st ability). After a few turns, it's maybe got 8 counters on it, so then taps for (2nd ability)
And by exile Haz' I mean return to the Command Zone ;-)

Have you thought about Cathars' Crusade since this is a token-themed deck?
March 6, 2016 11:55 p.m.
Cathar's Crusade was in the original list. My problem with it doesn't have to do with how good it is. My problem with it is how annoying it is to keep track of. Especially when all my tokens are dice to begin with. I have been considering putting it in again, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

Bloom Tender, Ashnod's Altar, Lotus Cobra, Burgeoning, Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Land Tax - works extremely well with your commander
Crop Rotation and Weathered Wayfarer - to easily get Gaea's Cradle
+1 from me!
March 9, 2016 8:24 p.m.
Thanks for the suggestions! I have never seen bloom tender. That seems like a very possible addition. Same with burgeoning.
Lotus cobra and Asuza I just don't have, but would play if I had.
Ashnods and Crop rotation were both in but ended up getting cut. I think for food chain and Skyshroud claim. Cuts are hard.
Land tax and weathered wayfarer are less good because I just don't often have less lands than people.
Do you have any suggestions for things I could cut?

May I Suggest an Assemble the Legion and if you don't care about your tokens how about Thromok the Insatiable.
