Really cool deck! I'm a Hazezon Tamar fan as well. You got some interesting cards and ideas for your deck that I might put in mine. Especially Living Plane because I built my Tamar deck around lands.

Hey m_to_the_three, thanks for checking out my baby!
Living Plane is a dastardly card, perfectly at home in a lands shenanigans deck. Nature's revolt is a great budget option that will save you more than a hundred bucks at the expense of a single additional mana. I point this out only because of your comment about infinite combos, but if you didn't know, both of these cards have a pretty brutal effect when your Elesh Norn is in play: murdering all of your opponent's lands.
I really dig your lands-matter take on Hazezon; I think this is the first time I've seen another one before! The new land Lotus Field would be a great addition, comboing nicely with Splendid Reclamation and Riftstone Portal , among other things. Speaking of which, Flagstones of Trokair seems like a must-add for your deck too!
Keep up the good work, friend!

Thanks for the advice and looking at my decks!! I love using legend legends as commanders if that wasnt obvious(3/5 of my decks are legend legends). Yeah I might add those two lands, just got to figure out what to cut and I do like the idea of Nature's Revolt. just got to figure out what to cut.
I am afraid though of using something like Nature's Revolt and then a boardwipe destroys all my lands. How do you overcome stuff like that with your Living Plane.

It's definitely dangerous! I really only play it if I can win with it that turn or the next.
Heroic Intervention can certainly save the day, ha ha.

@FenIsABasicSwamp (Somewhat) big changes to this list, Ben! I've created a 5-color lands deck as a sort of pressure valve for some of the crazy lands stuff going on in this deck. Check it out on what used to be my Rashmi page here: See the Durdle of Enormous Girth. That means I'm leaning more into flavor with the Hazezon deck. Lots of new fun stuff coming back in, including some better representations of the Old Grandfather of the Desert!
Definitely represents a slight powering-down, but my playgroup kind of needed it, to be honest.

Hey!
I absolutely love the theme of your deck! I'm curious, how bad do the tap lands hurt you? Because they seem fairly bad.
Also, since downgrading the land base, is Knight of the Reliquary and the Hydra still relevant? Do they just serve as additional copies of Cradle?
Also, I play in a turn 6-7 meta, do you think there's any ways to make Hazezon Relevant in a meta like this?
Thanks!

Hey Tim! Somehow I missed your comment. Idk if I told you but I got sent overseas for a long time so I don’t have as ready access to internet stuff all the time. Sounds like a great idea. I’ve been doing similar things to take pressure off decks that I over-modify. My pressure-valve for munchies dune deck is the flavor list of cards that definitely represent something in the story but have just not performed in-game or I’ve been disappointed in every time I draw them, like Grappling Hook.

@Ilnez, Depends on what you mean by Taplands. Scattered Groves and Sheltered Thicket are great. Besides the sweet desert flavor, the basic land types allow them to be tutored, and they are the first things I go for if I don't need mana that turn or if they are being tutored into play tapped with something like Farseek. Cycling is swell too, though it got way powered down by my cutting of Crucible/Ramunap. If you're talking about Blossoming Sands , yeah that card is trash. I haven't played with it since putting it in, so we'll see if it drives me crazy having it in there, but the flavor is ON POINT, so I wanted to give it a try.
Knight of the Reliquary is definitely a bit of a relic from the old build. I was hoping to slot it into the new deck See the Durdle of Enormous Girth, but it just doesn't really work in a 5(4)-color build. I'm undecided about what to do, as I love this card. The flavor is fine, but not so specifically good that it's vital to keep in there. Ulvenwald Hydra, on the other hand, is still powerful enough to warrant inclusion in my opinion. I can rush him out early for the ramp or get extra value out of him later with Panharmonicon or Diamond Valley . And yes, getting Cradle is always wonderful!
@FenIsABasicSwamp, I definitely didn't hear the news. Where have you been sent, and by whom? Hope you're enjoying it! I will take a look at the flavor list and rejoice as soon as I finish the Count of Monte Cristo here and dive back into God Emperor!

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
It looks to me it's missing 30x Desert , Whirling Dervish , Sandwurm Convergence and Greater Sandwurm , looks really fine otherwise:)

Tim, I don’t know if we’ve talked about my job but I’m in the Air Force and I got deployed to Iraq. Brought some decks but haven’t found anyone to play with unfortunately. It’s a good opportunity to read a ton too so I’m about to start Children.

Wow man i gotta say the level of attention youve brought to this deck is amazing, everytime i see it im impressed, i understand why you dont like the heavier cmc wurm cards your argument makes sense to me its hard to want to play a themed deck thats just nerfed for themes sake, and the fact your trying to get fremen tokens is one of the coolest theme touches ive herd in a while, if your interested feel free to check out my dune deck Welcome to planet Kaitain if you wanna see a Dark Mentat/Hasmir Fenring deck, good luck and pls share a pic of those tokens lol

Cool, i like it. Unfortunately i've never seen or read (or played the computer game) Dune so i'm not quite sure if im getting the flavor. But thats cool. Hazezon is my favourite commander actually.
I found the way to run over all your opponents is token doublers. I would suggest Parallel Lives is a better choice than Doubling Season . There is only the Sarkan walker that gives your guys +1+1 counters, you arent getting the value out of the enchantment and its CMC is 5. You're better off with Parallel Lives or Anointed Procession . But the best token doubler is Flameshadow Conjuring is the best i find. If you have an extra red mana to spare you will create a token copy of hazezon until end of turn, sacrifice the real one to the legendary rule. The card is two for one, sac outlet and token doubler.
Cathars' Crusade is bananas too. If you got tons of land and a token doubler, you'll get some monstrous tokens. I've dealt over 700 damage with that thing, enough to kill off every player in the LGS at

Hey metalnowak. Thanks for the upvote and for taking some time to check out the deck. I think you are missing one very important consideration in your evaluation of Doubling Season , however. Doubling Season doubles the number of loyalty counters that your planeswalkers enter the battlefield with, meaning that most can ultimate the turn that you cast them. Taking Garruk or Sarkhan for example, this means that 9 or 10 mana over two turns can net me 10 4/4 fliers or a number of 6/6 worms equal to twice the number of lands I control. An improvement over Parallel Lives indeed! Flameshadow Conjuring is indeed a cool card as well, but both Doubling Season and Panharmonicon outclass it for the purposes required here.
As for Cathar's Crusade, I ran that card for a long time. The flavor, Dune-wise, is actually pretty good! However, as an anthem effect, Cathar's Crusade is limiting in that it needs to be played before tokens are created. Coat of Arms and Beastmaster Ascension serve a similar purpose in this deck but with one important difference: they can be cast the turn you intend to win. Your tokens can already be on the board and you don't have to leave an extremely threatening enchantment on the board for a rotation of the table while you wait for Hazezon's delayed triggers to resolve.
I hope this makes sense! I appreciate the conversation and always delight in sharing my careful considerations regarding this deck with others.

Wild flavor and clever choices for one of my favorite stories of all time! Well done!

I wanted to thank you for the inspiration, I also loved Dune but didn't really see the connection with MTG.. up until stumbling upon your deck!
This is an attempt without red (because otherwise the choices would have been so similar!) https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/deserts-of-dune-thematic-deck-wug/ it would be nice to have your view on it:)

I'm surprised this thread isn't much bigger. The flavour of this deck is inspiring so much so that I'm looking to build this out. I really like the straight-forwardness of the deck. However are the interactions you've noted that are not as obvious?

Haha perfect! Yeah and he’s sacrificing Atreides to kill Harkonnenns! Too bad his pro humans didn’t cover him when it came to mentats (even though they’re obvs humans).
