Mishras Workshop is very expensive in real life, If Pornman plays this deck on paper then its a big investment.

I also have a Kozilek Butcher of truth list and i want to get one but they are like $1000 USD

As a person whose favorite colors is Black and Colorless, I approve of this.

This deck can combo out pretty efficiently if you can ramp into forgemaster. I playtested 3 times and got to infinite mana & infinite planar bridge activations fairly quickly each time using strionic resonator, paradox engine, and mana rocks.

chosenone124: You got a spare you want to send me, or should I start planning a bank heist?

Lord_Khaine: As a fellow lover of black and colorless, I approve of your taste.

Grumbles: Paradox Engine is so ridiculous I can still hardly believe it exists. Somehow I never thought about using Strionic Resonator with it before though, and considering how much I love Resonator, that's a little surprising considering it's an easy mode infinite combo.

Firstly I'll say that if you've been looking for a reason to play Tower of the Magistrate, then think of it as "anti-Mirrodin Swords" tech (coming in for a waste obviously).

Now I would ask you at least 2 questions otherwise. Firstly is what are your feelings on Prototype Portal? Have you used it before or had you not seen it mentioned for this build?

For my other question is in regards to Hope of Ghirapur and its ability to perform as an aggro commander for colorless. Have you had to face a "HoG" deck before and if not would you expect it to be aggro or something else? Obvious as it might be, I'm working on my own colorless deck and am wanting to stay away from Eldrazi for the simple reason I'd want to give them their own tribal build.

May 9, 2017 1:10 p.m.

I have a VERY close build to this and the only real suggestions I can make is to maybe switch tectonic edge for mayne strip mine? Same ability but no mana cost, I also found a way to include cavern of souls into my mana base, allows for my eldrazi titans to not be countered when it counts. Just some ideas, other than that, sick build and keep this deck updated! So good!!!

May 24, 2017 12:05 a.m.

TheRedGoat: You know, I've never thought of Prototype Portal here despite knowing damn good and well it exists, and frankly it would be pretty good here. I'll have to try it sometime.

As for a Hope of Ghirapur deck, I've never considered it much myself, nor have I gone up against one, but I think either aggro or Voltron could work out. It could also help shut down uppity spellslinger decks like Narset and the like if you play your cards right.

Omnom_Locus_of_Drivethrus: I've considered Cavern of Souls for this deck, but that was when it was $60 and I didn't think it was worth it for what though deck would use it for. That said, I figure I should try and get one before C17 because I feel like everybody is gonna go looking for them when that comes out. It would be nice to guarantee a Titan doesn't get countered at a crucial moment.

Strip Mine is also nice of course, I'll have to see about getting one of those some time.

The "stax" lands are some of my favorites to run they really tend to annoy people when i blow up there things with just a simple land lol

This is an amazing looking deck! Would it suffer if you played more Eldrazi? I'm building a similar variant but hoping to have more of an eldrazi presence asides from the titans alone.

March 24, 2019 9:06 p.m.

You absolutely can run more Eldrazi than I do in this list. This is a very focused deck that goes all in on the ramp to try to bulldoze with Kozilek as fast as possible. To do that I sacrificed a lot of my creature space to cram mana rocks. If you want more creatures then by all means go for it, you'll likely have a lot better defensive game than this version does, at the cost of maybe a little speed.

Colorless is the best color. I'm always happy to see someone else playing the best Kozilek. And with a pretty dang good budget too, wow. I did my best to read the comments, but I can't promise I won't repeat some of their suggestions.

Can I talk you into some stax? Our precious artifact babies need all the protection from evil Merciless Eviction 's and nasty Bane of Progress es. I know that the primary strategy for dealing with the main artifact-destroyers at the table is to hit them hard and fast, but that won't happen every time. Shut down those pesky forests with Winter Orb . Slow down those speedy decks with Tangle Wire (seriously though, this card is the nuts). Torpor Orb can't hurt either. A well timed Kozilek into Static Orb gets the Ws almost immediately.

Do you ever get much value out of the Urza lands? Miren, the Moaning Well is solid because sac outlets are good stuff. Deserted Temple is a budget Candelabra. Scavenger Grounds can save your butt against graveyard shenanigans. And dude, where's your Strip Mine ?

I infer from your list that you enjoy the smashy side of this deck, while I prefer the speedy combo assembly aspect of Kozi. I understand Fireshrieker 's value of one-shotting some poor sap, but Batterskull seems a little too low value, as does Key to the City . I fill those slots with ways to get Kozi back in my hand/command zone, like Ashnod's Altar and Erratic Portal .

How much value do you get from Mirrorworks ? I felt it was a little too slow and cut it from my list a while back. A 5 drop I'm currently interesting in trying out is Memory Jar . Another I'm on the cusp of purchasing is Staff of Domination , because everyone says it's amazing. If you're ever interested in yet another ramp artifact, Kyren Toy is delightfully weird. I'm pretty hype for Newgin , too.

You're doing God's work, colorless player, keep it up. Really fantastic list. Sorry for the essay.

April 22, 2019 12:15 a.m.

COLORLESS IS BEST COLOR

Really though, no worries about the essay. I like when people take the time to give well-reasoned feedback honestly, and if you saw the description you know I can get pretty long-winded as well. And I'm about to.

Glad to see you have the good taste to realize which Kozilek is really best. Annihilator is just brutal, and I adore it. Also, Butcher does have a lot more consistent draw, and while Kozilek, the Great Distortion can draw more in one cast, you can't Strionic Resonator his cast trigger.

The price listed on here is mostly due to price spikes and generally high-balled prices on here. I don't think I've put as much as $1000 even into this deck, merely a lot of time, some good trades, and a few very well timed purchases (good lord am I glad I went for the Mana Crypt when it was down to $70.)

The reason I haven't really gone for any stax is because honestly, my meta's not a huge fan of such effects. I've considered the Orbs, absolutely, but frankly I'm not going to be the one to start another arms race in my group. That said, Torpor Orb really should find a slot, because literally the only thing it stops in here is Solemn Simulacrum , which while unfortunate, is definitely an acceptable loss given what it DOES stop. My stance on said stax effects could change, given I move to another, more cutthroat meta or my current one powercreeps to the point where I absolutely must slot the Orbs and such in. You're not wrong in your assessment there by any means though.

Urzatron has only ever been assembled like, once in this deck, so I probably could ditch it for more useful utility lands. And a Strip Mine . I don't know how the hell I haven't added one of those by now either. An older version of this list actually did run Miren, the Moaning Well as well, but I ended up moving it to my Kokusho deck as I only have the one at the moment. I'll see about getting some new things slotted in there.

I like Key to the City as a way to grant unblockable. Usually I could care less about the draw trigger, though I do use it when I feel I can. Batterskull could be cut honestly, I kind of rush slotted that in over Planar Bridge because I noticed that with Bridge all I ever did was go digging for Paradox Engine and a way to go infinite and barf my deck onto the table, and honestly that got boring for me. Ashnod's Altar could lead to some silly shenanigans, I'll have to see about getting at least one of those. Mirrorworks is actually a card I've been on the fence about myself. Like, sometimes it's a dead cast that doesn't get a lot done, sometimes I get dual Monoliths and have all the mana, all the time. It'll probably go when I get my hands on one of those sweet new Ugins honestly, because I NEED HIM HE'S GREAT HOLY CRAP. I've also considered Staff of Domination here, but I'm not sure if it would be too powerful or not. Might test that out. Memory Jar is a card I've used a bit in my Hanna deck, and it's obscenely good with her recursion. I assume it would be great here, I just need to get another.

Always nice to hear from someone else who knows just how damn fun colorless is. I wish you good luck and lots of fast mana opening hands.

April 22, 2019 1:22 a.m.

Wow, I went back and dug through my older comments, and I've said "Yeah I'm totally gonna get a Strip Mine in here" like twice already. And I somehow STILL do not have one. Why am I like this?

That was a quick reply. $70 for a mana crypt?? I'm jealous. I'm proud of my collection too, having seen Ugin, Rings, and Crypt all double in price since I bought them.

I completely understand you not wanting to start a stax arms race. I guess some people like untapping their cards, god knows why. I know you've decided against it, but Tangle Wire is so stupidly good in EDH, I just have to mention it one more time. Of all the tap effects, Wire holds a special place in my cold, dead heart.

A card I forgot to mention is Mirage Mirror , which not only can make a little mana, but can also serve as a sac outlet for Kozi due to the legend rule, as well as serve as an emergency Kozi duplicate WITH HASTE. If you're feeling combo-inclined, Mirror can duplicate Inventors' Fair to set up a near-certain win with a double-tutor. Not only that, but you aren't limited to your own permanents. See a Necropotence ? Now it's MY Necropotence.

Otherwise, Mindslaver shenanigans are fun, although I'm sure you were already aware of that. Helm of Awakening can be dirty, but you'd better be prepared to win if you play it.

I see you've added 100 Strip Mine s to the maybeboard. I'm not sure that's enough. Also, I've tried (and cut) Lotus Petal myself. It's decent enough in your opening hand, but pretty poor at any other point in the game.

I love coming up with puzzles and challenges involving unique interactions in these sorts of decks. To show off the power of Mirage Mirror , I've come up with a puzzle for you.

Board: Metalworker , Inspiring Statuary , Sensei's Divining Top , Clock of Omens , Rings of Brighthearth , Mirage Mirror (and no lands)

Hand: Unwinding Clock , Sculpting Steel

Goal: Win the game against 3 players with 40 health this turn. The top of your deck is irrelevant (let's say that all 6 Wastes are on top).

Ignore the puzzle if it's not your thing. Thanks for taking the time to give such a detailed reply.

April 22, 2019 10:32 p.m.

Oh man, Mirage Mirror . No need to sell me on that card honestly, it's great. The only reason it's not already here is because I've neglected to update this list in a while because I hadn't been able to play much the past couple years. That absolutely needs a spot. I forget it can copy lands, so it can actually be a third way to pull off a sneaky Dark Depths combo if need be as well. That's pretty sweet.

I've run Mindslaver before here, and I ended up cutting it. It's fun, but I needed the spot for Kaladesh tech. Clutch Emrakul, the Promised End casts have won games for me before though. Helm of Awakening is pretty gnarly, I may have to test it and see if I can't make it work for me. I'm just not a fan of symmetrical effects.

As for the 100 Strip Mine s, I put 100 there because it wouldn't let me add a million. "You really need 1000000x Strip Mine, huh?" YES I DO TAPPEDOUT, MAY I PLEASE HAVE THEM? I figure if I keep that there for long enough, I will eventually get at least one.

I could use a sell on Tangle Wire . I like it, and I bet I could get it past my group, but how do I break parity with it? Clock of Omens kind of things I would guess? I mean, I guess tapping the Wire to itself is a cheeky cheat, but you seem to know something I don't that makes it go from good to incredible.

As for your puzzle, hell, challenge accepted. I too am a fan of Rube Goldberg machine plays.

I'm not sure if you had a way to actually end the game proper from there in mind but this is what I came up with. One player has no deck, and the rest have no boards, so realistically everyone scoops and the hypothetical players here probably never play with me again. God I love colorless.

Wait, my mistake. I CAN get lethal on everyone.

I have a bad habit of overcomplicating things sometimes. This is far simpler.

April 23, 2019 1:16 a.m. Edited.

Woah... just imagine if Karn, Silver Golem was in the deck. Chunky artifacts + Darksteel Forge with creature-Karn becomes "I have blockers for days." Mycosynth Lattice turns him into an Armageddon, it turns Forge into "Vandalblast? What Vandalblast?" Lattice also turns Unwinding Clock into a creatureless Seedborn Muse, turns Clock of Omens into "Tap any 2 things: untap a thing," lets Sculpting Steel copy anything, lets Mirage Mirror copy planeswalkers (which Rings of Brighthearth combos will let you abuse completely), lets KCI turn your whole board into a resource, and lets you use Nevy's Disk to hold everyone's board state hostage. Disk and forge are also ridiculous. Drop the Lattice on top of that two-card combo and everyone gets up and walks away.

Other cards I would highly reccomend: Cloud Key, Crucible of Worlds, Temple of the False God, Ghirapur Orrery, Vedalken Orrery, Helm of the Host, Prowler's Helm, Whispersilk Cloak, Library of Leng, Venser's Journal, Aetherflux Reservoir, Staff of Domination, Thran Temporal Gateway, Aetherworks Marvel, Arch of Orazca.
