Commander / EDH Budget Ramp Tribal

BaconNinja101

Everyone remembers that mana-loving treehugger elemental from the first trip to Zendikar, but he is angry and ready to summon an army for a fun loving EDH player. My deck is a more budget friendly version (which can be tweaked to be made cheaper or more expensive). My goal is to provide some cards to look into if you are an Omnath player yourself, or a fun deck to build around for new players.

Card List/Evaluation:

  • Altar of Dementia - With Omnath, it's very important to have the ability to bolt at any time. With a sac outlet like alter, your getting double duty out of each elemental. Really helpful to dodge removal. Upgrade: Greater Good

  • Ancient Tomb - A 7-mana general is pretty high costing, so we need all the ramp we can get. Ancient Tomb fits the bill nicely. Downgrade: Temple of the False God

  • Avenger of Zendikar - A must have in any green deck, especially one based on getting landfall triggers. This man is a beast in the late game, and a must-have.

  • Bane of Progress - Green/Red doesn't have many good sweepers, but this is one of the best. You aren't affected as heavily as opponents because you won't be playing many artifacts; Bane is an auto-include.

  • Blighted Woodland - Sitting on heaps of mana with nothing to spend it on? Here is your answer in land form. Great for getting Omnath out earlier and 3 land fall triggers in it.

  • Bloodstained Mire - Any fetchland is great with Omnath because they produce 2 landfall triggers, and the mire is no exception. Downgrade: Basic Land

  • Burnished Hart - A commander allstar, the hart helps keep your curve flowing toward that general or get 2 more landfall triggers.

  • Chaos Warp - Any good commander deck needs some straight up permanent removal. Uprgade: Beast Within

  • Chord of Calling - Great tutor, cheap mana cost with lots of dudes out. This is a must have: you can get any creature you need at any time.

  • Chromatic Lantern - Great for mana-fixing, even if we are only in one color. Downgrade: Darksteel Ingot

  • Command Tower - Must have for mana-fixing.

  • Courser of Kruphix - Really nice life gain against someone trying to aggro you out (though unlikely), and helps thin your deck.

  • Creeping Renaissance - Really nice to recur any much-needed spells you already used - twice! This card is great. Upgrade: Eternal Witness

  • Crop Rotation - What's better than getting that Reliquary Tower when you have a full hand or pull a fetch out to get 2 landfall triggers? That's right: nothing!

  • Decimate - Hit all four of those pesky permanents on your opponents fields!

  • Dryad Arbor - Great little blocker in the early game when you aren't playing much, tutorable by Chord if you need an extra landfall trigger. Downgrade: Forest

  • Elemental Bond - You need to have cards like this to make your deck become crazy efficient. Draw engines are a must have in an Omnath build.

  • Elemental Mastery - Combined with a sac outlet, this card is nuts. The bolting will be real, and a fun card in general in an elemental themed deck.

  • Evolving Wilds - A great budget friendly card to get 2 free landfall triggers.

  • Explore - This is an okay card, one of the first ones I would remove. It can help get you going a little faster or get another landfall trigger in.

  • Explosive Vegetation - Really nice to either get 2 landfall triggers or to hit Omnath turn 5.

  • Farseek - Nice to pull your Stomping grounds out turn 2, helpful for fixing.

  • Fecundity - Another card that goes nuts with a sac outlet, the card advantage given from this is insane.

  • Fires of Yavimaya - Giving all of your dudes haste is pretty nice when you're getting ready for an alpha strike.

  • Frenzied Tilling - Some pesky land bothering you? This card will hit a land of an opponents and ramp you! A must have in my book.

  • Frontier Guide - Good mana accelerant, nice to get landfall triggers late game.

  • Garruk's Packleader - Amazing card, tutorable by Chord. This guy will fill your hand so quickly. A must have.

  • Garruk, Primal Hunter - Mainly here for his -3 to get a bunch of cards. Downgrade: Harmonize

  • Goblin Bombardment - Awesome sac outlet, great way to push extra heavy damage through or to kill some nasty creatures.

  • Gruul Turf - Gets you more landfall triggers, and helps fix your mana.

  • Harrow - Amazing mana accelerant and can get 2 landfall tirggers. A must have.

  • High Market - Nice sac outlet to ping people and heal you, be it a little.

  • Homeward Path - Against any deck that steals your stuff, this is needed. Downgrade: basic land

  • Hull Breach - A great 2-for-1 spell; much needed removal for a sol ring early or a huge threat later.

  • Incandescent Soulstoke - Fun, flavorful card. May not be the best, but +1/+1 can go a long way. Upgrade: Coat of Arms

  • Ingot Chewer - Its a bolt and artifact removal combined; what could be better? A must have.

  • Jund Panorama - Its a budget fetch, 2 landfall triggers! Upgrade: any red or green ish fetch.

  • Kessig Wolf Run - Fun and chaotic when others forget you have and you use it when someone attacks another person. Good to make an elemental pushing through huge.

  • Khalni Heart Expedition - Ramp over time, and can produce a good amount of elementals for 2 mana.

  • Kodama's Reach - Good ramp, and card advantage can always help.

  • Krosan Grip - One of the best green removal spells in commander, makes sure that that pesky artifact goes away for sure. A must have.

  • Liege of the Tangle - Can be amazing or a huge dud. Be careful, a board wipe could kill all of your lands! Upgrade: Nissa, Worldwaker

  • Mountain Valley - Its a budget fetch, 2 landfall triggers, you get the drill.

  • Myriad Landscape - 3 landfall triggers in 1 land, a must have.

  • Naya Panorama - Budget fetch, 2 landfall triggers, same as above and still amazing.

  • Nissa's Expedition - Can be a faster or even free spell to help get more landfall triggers.

  • Oracle of Mul Daya - A complete all star, she'll get rid of a bunch of the sitting land on the top of your deck. A must have if you can afford it.

  • Perilous Forays - Practically a 1 card combo, this card is insane. You'll spit huge amounts of damage and get a bunch of lands out. A must have.

  • Phytotitan - Really good blocker and nice with a sac outlet, one of the first cards I would take out.

  • Primal Surge - A fun card for the lols, gets great reactions if it resolves. To me, this is a card made for commander.

  • Purphoros, God of the Forge - Amazing when the elementals hit the field, and the anthem is a nice bonus.

  • Rakka Mar - Fun card that can make some good chump blockers. Great flavorful card.

  • Rampaging Baloths - A second Omnath. Enough said.

  • Rampant Growth - Always good to get spells out quicker or to get landfall triggers.

  • Ranger's Path - Good to ramp out big dudes and get more triggers.

- Reliquary Tower - No limit to hand? I don't need to type anything else. The main target of Sylvan Scrying , it is a must have.

- Rites of Flourishing - Fun for everyone, and helps you get more elementals.

  • Routbound Crag - Mana fixing land. Downgrade: basic land

- Sakura-Tribe Elder - Great dude for early ramp and getting landfall triggers.

- Savage Twister - Green/Red needs as many wipes as it can take, and this is a great one. A must have.

- Seer's Sundial - Much needed card draw, great with all those lands entering.

- Temple of Abandon - Nice mana fixing, and scry is helpful always. Downgrade: basics.

- Xenagos, the Reveler - He's a bomb and a removal magnet. This guy will accelerate your mana insanely fast, and his other abilities are just plain good.
