You know, Squirrel_of_War, I overlooked the idea of bringing guys back from exile after they've unearthed! I toyed around with Void Maw in my Anafenza, the Foremost deck for the infinite combo, but accidentally missed his use here.
Safe Haven is an interesting suggestion, but having that as a land for turn with no mana production could disrupt tempo, but still be a neat little trick. I'm gonna keep that one in mind, along with Cold Storage. Synod Sanctum is like Safe Haven, but feels ripe for a well-timed Naturalize. From other similar decks I've seen, most people consider Conjurer's Closet overrated, so I've delayed in trying to obtain it, but I don't really see the reasoning yet for avoiding it. Seems good with ETB effects!
Thanks for the suggestions :D

As a Sedris (Deck Link) player myself, I've had no problems with Conjurer's Closet, but I have a very ETB focused deck so I pretty muuch always get value out of it. Deadeye Navigator is a card many people seem to love to hate, but it works so well with Sedris, so I consider it one of the core cards you should always run with him.
I'll suggest a few other cards:
- Malfegor
- Tyrant of Discord
- Buried Alive (search for combo)
- Mirror-Mad Phantasm (unearth it, use the ability, put your library into your graveyard)
- Mercurial Chemister (valuetown)

I enjoy discussion, so bear with me while I explain my thoughts.
Another Sedris player? WOOT!
Ok 1empyrean, so...
The idea is to have as many spots as I need to pull off a number of win-cons, then fill the rest with utility cards like loot effects, and control cards like kills, counters, and -for flavor- steal and traitor cards... Meanwhile, I'd like to have a few reanimator bombs, like Ashen Rider and Dragonlord Atarka back in their respective Standard blocks.
When I saw Malfegor in my cards, my first thought was COMMANDER, but then I thought about throwing it in here. I held back because if I'm behind on the board, which is often a likely scenario in multiplayer tables, then I'd get a fatty, discard my hand, make opponents who can afford to sac a few dudes to do so. There's no draw power, so I'd probably wind up in a deeper hole, save for having a 6/6 flyer on the field. There is upside, but the probability for more upside seems unlikely at this point, but I'll keep him close for sure as my meta ebbs and flows.
I LOVE Tyrant of Discord and used to run it in my Mayael the Anima block with enthusiasm... until it often made me a very quick enemy. I would draw aggro from my opponents, and those triple reds made it awkward trying to cast when red is the minor color. Targeting a single player is a quick way to make an enemy, and I'd like to play a bit more passive aggressively and have cards that affect the entire table, like Diluvian Primordial, or cards that net me additional permanents, like Abhorrent Overlord, or maybe even a Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
Buried Alive and Mirror-Mad Phantasm are cards ripe for a Bojuka Bog or other yard hater like Anafenza, the Foremost or Scavenging Ooze, but having forgotten about the former and never heard of the latter, I'll put them on my watch list :)
Mercurial Chemister is one of those dudes that I really like in decks like this, and I'll definitely reconsider it strongly, but being in a 5-drop slot and very easily Clone-able, especially with lots of red/blue in my meta, it assume the dangers of playing Tyrant of Discord when opponents grab their own copies.
Unfortunately, that constant danger of people cloning living dudes, dead dudes, etc, is very real, and very likely, so it puts a painful restriction on this deck that if I get too aggressive, I'll find myself on the other end of a hate stick... thus, the preference on passive-aggressive style, or cards that are "politically fair" in hurting the entire table.
Thanks for commenting 1empyrean, and reading, please feel free to keep the conversation going!

Basalt Monolith with Mesmeric Orb will let you put your entire deck into the grave and with sedris in play you can bring out whatever you want for . My go to sedris combo was Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Zealous Conscripts but you could also use it as a way to get all of your creature in your grave into play using Living Death. Add haste giver Urbrask the hidden to the mix and you can destroy lives as early as turn 4. Youre in blue so you could throw a Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir in there to protect your combo. You're also in the colors for a ton of Necrotic Ooze combos i believe. Hope this helps.

Deckologist, I do like creature-only combos, obviously, in this deck because of Sed's unearth ability and cards like Buried Alive to tutor them out. With so much blue in my meta I'm certain that BA will get countered at least 50% of the time once my opponents realize what I'm up to. The monolith/orb combo is janky sweet, but I'd really hate to run that sort of risk knowing that smart, competitive players (my opponents) know my shenanigins and will Bojuka Bog/Scavenging Ooze/Tormod's Crypt me as soon as possible. While I'm open to on-the-play combos, I don't want to get too fancy and wind up in the corner. I would love to try a janky T-5-Win Laboratory Maniac/Inverter of Truth combo some day, but it's not something I would want to use consistently since I'd have to have tutored them both out by then with a ramped Buried Alive or something.
I hadn't really seen Living Death before now, and although it's another spell ripe for a counterspell, there are other decks in my meta like Karador, Ghost Chieftain that would easily overrun me if I tried that. I think I'll order it, to have it, but wait a bit before giving it a slot in the mainboard, to see if it will be viable after I get more Sedris experience.
I think your mention of Kiki just pushed me into finally ordering it since I've been on the fence, waiting for a moment of weakness to loosen up some budget for it. I don't think Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir would be as lucky since, yeah it's a great card, but once my opponents Clone it, I'm on the other end of the stick. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it in a deck like this for its passive-aggressive, but not crippling, style... but the risk to me once it gets copied by an opponent seems to give it a downside also. Additionally, I'm trying, as much as I can to avoid triple-colored cards in a three-color deck as it is (Sorry, Sadistic Sacrament, you may have your time some day), at least until I can smooth out my mana base and balance my colors more evenly.
Urabrask the Hidden is on the fence for me also, for the threat-of-Clone reason. I mean, most of my guys have haste once I start unearthing them, and I don't know if having multiple Imposing Sovereigns on the board really helps me and hurts everyone else only... so I'll put that on the consideration list as the deck twists and turns.
I'm ordering a Necrotic Ooze with Kiki, since it's a creature-combo piece like you said.
Thanks for the helpful comments, I'm placing an order now :)

Thanks for the upvote also, Deckologist, I haven't been this enthusiastically interested in a deck since my Mayael the Anima deck, For The Nayan Horde!, which has NEVER won a multiplayer game, due to the Clone threat, and people simply out-playing me with more expensive win-con decks. It's a $400+ deck with immense power and nasty creatures, but once my opponenets start playing my deck against me it gets painful.

I almost flipped the table on a Lazav, Dimir Mastermind player once while playing my Mayael deck. GODS, that commander made me angry! All he did was mill me, copy my dudes, and beat me to hell and back with them, and the btch is hexproof*. (Sorry, minor off-topic rant)

Lazav has a tendency to do that. And no problem, I love giving advice. If ever you want to pitch ideas for sedris back and forth just let me know. And the monetary value of a deck doesn't always mean it will win. I have got into the habit of building sub 500$ decks to try and beat my playgroups 1000$+ decks and the results have been pretty positive. I won't link them on your deck as I think that's rude but if you go to my profile one is mono red one is mono blue and one is mono green. All you need is big plays and enough "dumb control" to let loose on people haha.
May 22, 2016 10:29 a.m.
Last week I cast Innocent Blood after one of my opponents dropped his Ob Nixilis, Unshackled and he recast it next turn and came straight after me, killing me within 3 turns, ignoring the other players (even though it hit EVERYONE at the table evenly). It was a dick move by him, IMO, but that's the kind of aggression that can be present in my meta... which is why I'm interested in the passive aggressive build. Most players like to sit on their heels, ramp up, play their deck, then go BIG in one turn to win... which is why my Mayael deck didn't last long, because it's more of a slower, steady aggression.
I'm glad you love giving advice, b/c as you can see, I love getting it and discussing the game.
Slave of Bolas is one of my favorite grixis cards because of how well the flavor matches the commanders, although I seldom see anyone play it; "I'll take that, smack you with it, then kill it."
Are there any good combo targets for, say, Swift Warkite? It's a dragon with Unearth. Also, some folks play Liliana Vess for the tutor, others prefer Ral Zarek for the tap/untap and chance at extra turns... of course, when one can't afford Dack Fayden for the looting.
May 22, 2016 11:57 a.m.
One card I'm really on the fence about it Sheoldred, Whispering One. He's really amazing as a stand-alone, but has no reanimation value (unless you flicker him for keeps), and can really make a mess of this deck if he gets Cloned. Any thoughts?
May 22, 2016 12:42 p.m.
Deckologist says... #12
Sheoldred is a staple in most reanimator decks. I would include her
May 22, 2016 5:36 p.m.
I agree about Sheoldred.
Also, Training Grounds (sadly) doesn't reduce unearth cost.
I have to say I prefer a much higher creature count for Sedris (I run 47 in mine) just so I can brute force through a lot of the graveyard denial strategies you feel you are likely to come across. It allows me to use self mill and cards like Fact or Fiction and Sphinx of Uthuun for effective card advantage. Worrying about having creatures stolen or cloned seems counterproductive.
Finally, if you want to deal with commanders with hexproof, like Lazav, run Glaring Spotlight or Arcane Lighthouse.

Instead of Training Grounds play Heartstone, that decreases unearth abilities. The down side is that your opponents benefit from it too.

To stick with your theme, Spinal Embrace would fit nicely.
May 22, 2016 7:09 p.m.
Hmm, I guess it would apply unearth to other creatures and that ability isn't actually activated by Sedris. Good call on that, I loved it in my Tasigur deck. Shielded is amazing with you, but with low creature count can be death against you. I'll keep her in for a while. I'm on my phone now so I'll comment more later
May 22, 2016 7:12 p.m.
Squirrel_of_War - Nope. If Heartstone affected "creature cards" you would be correct, but both it and Training Grounds affect "creatures" which only exist on the battlefield (anywhere else, it is a "creature card").
Spinal Embrace is such a good card, I second the suggestion.
How about Lim-Dul's Vault?
May 22, 2016 7:23 p.m. Edited.
Ooo, I like that (spinal embrace)!! Sadly, I just put in an order, so I'll ask around my LGS or put it into the next order. Good call, like another Slave, but with life gain.
Another goal I'm looking into is balancing out the red, getting more in, so it's easier to play while I smooth out the mana base. Any suggestions on that? Even a simple Act of Treason could fit since my opponents tend to play bigger threats on board than I do.

Great news! Sneak Attack is being reprinted in eternal masters so the price should drop a bit. I would put it in here for sure.
May 23, 2016 12:51 p.m.
I'd be more excited for my Mayael the Anima deck, but still good news.
I just swapped a few cards:
- Dropped Treasure Cruise, Exquisite Blood, Sanguine Bond, and Training Grounds... for Faithless Looting, Incendiary Command, Dread Return, and Bogardan Hellkite.
Looking to squeeze in a Hedron Archive and a handful of cards I'd like opinions on... Flameshadow Conjuring, Steel Hellkite, Mad Prophet/Reckless Scholar, Monastery Siege, Clone, Telemin Performance, Languish, Strategic Planning, Tolarian Winds, and more. Any opinions on any of those?
May 23, 2016 6:10 p.m.
- Flameshadow Conjuring: Yes, if you can reliably get your ETB creatures onto the battlefield, this card is great.
- Steel Hellkite: Yes. Great creature. Great ability.
- Monastery Siege: Absolutely. This card is a better option than either Mad Prophet or Reckless Scholar because if you don't need the card advantage, you can protect your field. Versatile.
- Card advantage, removal, and control cards are all good things, so your other card ideas are pretty good, however, if you find an ability on a creature that is the same as what you get on an instant or sorcery, it is usually better for Sedris. Perhaps look for cards with less targeted, broader effects or with repeatable effects.
May 23, 2016 11:22 p.m.
My list came in yesterday's mail, as seen in the COMING SOON segment of the deck's description atop the page. Now to find space...
I don't think I've asked yet: Do you all play in multiplayer pods?
May 24, 2016 4:41 a.m.
Love this deck. Sedris is actually my main EDH deck as well, so big ups for running that badass. One note about Mirror-Mad Phantasm, I don't think it works quite as well as you think with unearth. Because if it leaves play, it's exiled, and Mirror-mad's ability won't "start" unless it's actually put into the deck. I still run it in my deck, but I run a ton of clone variants and Necrotic Ooze, as you mentioned. That way you can still mill your entire library all at once. Just a heads-up if you go to do that though.
One way I've found to at least get around some graveyard hate is to run spells that mill all the people at the table ie Jace's Archivist, Dreamborn Muse, etc. This won't stop all graveyard hate, but it at least can help to spread some of the punishment around.

I would recommend cards that keep your dudes around after unearth such as:
Safe Haven
Cold Storage
Sundial of the Infinite
Synod Sanctum
Void Maw
Conjurer's Closet
