This deck is a cool idea, but how do you plan to not be murdered with commander damage?

I don't get what you mean? if you are talking about Heartless Hidetsugu's ability, it doesn't count, only combat is commander damage.

Why not Quietus Spike?

Quietus Spike doesn't work the way I want, deathtouch doesn't kill players, and i don't intend on dealing much combat damage (unless it is a lot), and hidetsugu doesn't do combat damage through his ability, so that doesn't work either.

Very nice Heartless Hidetsugu deck. Ever try throwing in some planeswalkers so that you could redirect Hidetsugu's damage to them?

See, I thought about it, but I'd rather play bad save cards like Lich's Mirror.

Really I probably should put in more walkers, especially to up the power of the deck.

I just think that making Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded a win-con is hilarious. Including the fact that if you don't use any of his abilities people generally don't hit him. XD

I generally use Koth of the Hammer for mana burst and Chandra, Pyromaster for extra "card draw" (with her 0 ability).

Throwing in Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle never hurts also.

If I add any more planeswalkers, they will probably be Chandra, Pyromaster and Chandra Ablaze. I need the extra draw power they provide.

I had valakut in here before, but the tapped mountain is all it really is, since games rarely ever tend to go long with this deck, and I prefer to turn my lands into cards that are not lands, instead of having lots of lands.

I really don't know why you're not running Illusionist's Bracers or (if you can afford it) Rings of Brighthearth. Both let you get double the damage off Hidetsugu's ability.

+1 for using my favorite card as a general though.

Neither of them actually let you double the damage he deals, since they both put secondary copies of his ability on the stack, it really only does ~50% more damage, I may consider rings, but the equipment in the deck are already hard enough to equip to heartless.
