@Felixlives Well, what color did you add to the blue and black? Being two color helps us keep our life total higher against aggressive decks. You can maybe reconsider your mana to save those points.

red. impact tremors and grapeshot mostly but like I said my deck gets played in multiplayer where im not likely to get burned out that quickly. In a group game I try not to play any tell tale cards right off until I know I got the combo because everyone hates the deck. but usually I can assemble the cards I need to go infinite t2-3 t4-5 at the latest I just play out and call gin. good game fellas these cards here say I win, any response?? going once going twice... good game

also check out Infernal Tutor maybe its been suggested before but it can get you the second retriever you need. I mean yeah its limited you cant tutor something you don't already have but it is like playing 8 myr retrievers

@Felixlives Impact Tremors and Grapeshot are both inferior to Altar of the Brood in the deck. Altar costs less and can be cast with the mana from Myr Moonvessel. It can also be recurred with Myr Retriever to continue the combo.
Also for Infernal Tutor, I normally don't run out of cards. Even when it is useful, it still slows down our combo. I'd rather just run Muddle the Mixture if I did want a tutor, and I'm not running that due to the fact it slows the deck down.

Impact tremors is just another option. In your opening hand you want heartless a land and at very least 1 piece of the combo, moonvessle, retriever or lich, that being said if in the next 2-5 turns you don't draw altar Gg you got hosed

@Felixlives That's why I run Grim Haruspex. It draws us into our Altar of the Brood and Surgical Extractions from the board, and it also has value outside of the combo. It also costs less due to Heartless Summoning. He also blocks, which is sometimes quite relevant.
March 12, 2016 12:27 p.m.
I'm sold.
I just went turn 4 play Havengul Lich. Used my fourth mana to recur a Myr Moonvessel. Grim Haruspex in play to infinitely draw into Altar of the Brood. Use Myr's one mana to pay it's cost. Then pitch another Moonvessel from hand and win.
This deck is freaking brilliant. Too bad the graveyard can't be easily protected but I love it. I may try and build it. +1 all the way.

@TMBRLZ Honestly, I love this deck. It has the issue of needing four cards in order to combo, one of them always being Heartless Summoning, but the crazy amount of synergies is just fantastic. All this deck needs is a functional reprint of Heartless Summoning and the deck would be fantastic.
You can actually protect the graveyard fairly well. Echoing Truth helps us for the integral combo turn against Rest in Peace type cards, and we can simply power through a Relic of Progenitus.
Anyways, thanks for the +1. If you do some more playtesting or put it together, feel free to let me know how it goes.

I saw this deck ordered a few cards and put it together. Only play it casual multiplayer but I can watch my friends all freeze when I play heartless summoning. They even ask do you have the combo should we just scoop now or do we have a turn or two to try and collectively wreck your plan. It is friggin awesome to pull off the t2 which has happened a couple times.

@Felixlives Glad you are having a blast with it. I get the turn 2 once in a blue moon as well. I did it to a guy at a PTQ once, he was not impressed at all. Showed me a hand with Rest in Peace in it.

It's so nice though... Oh my goodness...
I just twice in a row playtested into a Turn 3 Havengul Lich and Grim Haruspex.
Turn 1: Fetch Sunken Hollow tapped.
Turn 2: Land into Heartless Summoning
Turn 3: Play Myr Moonvessel and net . Use that and tap two lands to play Havengul Lich. Tap to play Grim Haruspex.
Turn 4: Recur Myr Moonvessel until you find Altar of the Brood. Sculpt hand appropriately.

@Felixlives Normally the kill is on turn 3 or 4. That being said, we run Inquisition of Kozilek and Spell Pierce to protect us, so normally we can tag a Rest in Peace before we get blown out.
@TMBRLZ That's typically how games go for me. Although sometimes we get some Grim Haruspex/Mulldrifter shenanigans.

in my version I play gprobes and more tutors and simian spirit guides to help me get the t1-3 win I feel like is necessary for a deck that has little to no interaction with the enemies board state.

@Felixlives The tutors are very slow, I prefer to use card draw over them. Muddle the Mixture is a good card, but I find tutoring and going off on turns 4-5 to be too slow.
Gitaxian Probe was in my original list, but I found that running the Inquisition of Kozilek and being able to sideboard into a more controlling deck helped me win far more games than racing did. Your deck scoops to Thoughtseize, mine can fight back and buy time to reassemble the combo. Simian Spirit Guide falls into the same category.

yeah spirit guide if it doesn't give you a t1-2 win is a dead rat. i don't play this other that group casual(free mulligan) so i can usually assemble the combo by no later than t3
May 25, 2016 8:59 p.m.
Hi, i was thinking, isn't Mill a little weak condition to win? May i suggest adding Falkenrath Noble? I don't have a clue of how it will perform, but you may cast him for 1 with Heartless Summoning and have it deal infinite damage as you moove Myr Moonvessel back and forth from play. Also it comboes well with the rest of the deck and gives you a bunch of life wich might help against burn matchups. Also Dross Harvester maybe.

@SigHappy I have tried falkenrath noble in my version the deck before and find it is just too slow and can more easily responded to as a 1/1 creature than altar of the brood. the main goal is to aggressively mulligan for heartless summoning and hopefully a piece of combo. the version I run is less interactive than this even with a goal to assemble the combo in hand by t3-4 and just win straight up on the spot.
August 30, 2017 1:26 p.m.
Felixlives is your version anyhow competitive? Is it anywhere on the site? I'd like to try this deck out and maybe add some changes if you don't mind
August 30, 2017 2:05 p.m.
Felixlives says... #22
yeah I have 2 versions on here jank retriever is the newer version as the other one heartless sonuva lich still has gprobe. it is competitive in the sense that it can absolutely autowin as early as t2 and consistently by t3-4 but once someone is onto the game plan you need to side in as much protection in the form of counters as possible. pact of negation can be a godsend for this deck because you are either going to win right now or lose outright. the deck is not interactive enough to compete long if you get disrupted. simian spirit guide can help accelerate the deck a bit and I try to run as much fetches as possible to thin the deck. draws are crucial so aggressive mulligans are important. I have not played it against a lot of archetypes in modern it does ok against other super fast modern decks like infect and affinity its basically a coin flip who will win first. I have played it in multiplayer games a number of times and usually as soon as I polluted delta into a watery grave into serum visions t1 all my friends groan and try everything they can to stop the combo or kill me as soon as possible. but t3-4 its usually gg.

Main board skites is the ringer really against burn. I don't have them in mine but they are a great fit. Right now tho mine is mostly played in casual multiplayer and goes full combo I try to get t1-3 combo and close the game quickly this usually means probing a fetch into a shock land which gets hosed to burn
