Love it just want to ask why some cards didn't make the cutWipe, read the bones, and anger of the gods,?To me it seems like anger would be one of the best ways to fight off Argo decks

Anger of the Gods is in the sideboard. Read the Bones is a great card but I can't make room for it in this deck and the scrylands and Magma Jet should already provide me with enough scrying. I need every card to be able to put up threats since this deck can't spare a turn.

Hey, first of all I want to say that the pre-theros version of this I have been running for the past two months and It has been working wonders for me. I didnt update it the recent model as of recently (back when it ran 3x Vampire Nighthawk . However when M14 came out I ended up putting in 3x Archangel of Thune to replace them. I have found that they have great synergy with the Blood Baron of Vizkopa , Obzedat, Ghost Council , as well as Warleader's Helix . Even back when Vault of the Archangel was standard it had crazy results. Bottom line: Do you think Archangel of Thune would work well in here and maybe replace Hundred-Handed One ? Also +1!

rastarracer, comparing Archangel of Thune to Hundred-Handed One is like comparing apples to oranges since one is a 5-drop and one is a 4-drop. Archangel of Thune is a great creature, but she runs better when you build the deck around her. This deck may have ways to gain life, but it could have more. She also clogs up our precious 5-drop slot on the curve, of which we already have 7. Running her instead of the Hundred-Handed One probably would require you to cut a couple of the current 5-drops or run more acceleration or more removals that help you get there. Of course, if you decide to try to build around her while keeping the color, you have plenty of early options to replace Vampire Nighthawk (at least as a 3-drop lifelinker, not so much the deathtouch).

TL;DR You can definitely try the angel over the 4-drop, but this will shift the curve up so you'd have to adjust the board accordingly so that your deck does not become too slow.

Do you play at the Orlando location or the Tampa location?

Big fan of the previous version of this deck. I don't know how you can manage now with all these damn tapped scry lands, but balls and kudos to you!!

+1

jimaejackel, I play at the one in Orlando :)

And thanks! Those scry lands are awkward sometimes, but the scry also helps a whole lot. As long as they don't come down 3 in a row, I'm usually ok!

I play at Coolstuff in Maitland, really it's Orlando right by Altamonte on route 17/92. I highly suggest you buy cards from there ( www.coolstuffinc.com ) instead of anywhere else, the prices are usually best and always in stock. While I was at UCF they had a little show and tell kiosk setup and boy the prices of packs where like 1 whole dollar above prices at Coolstuff or any other retailer. Maybe that was just the price since they were bringing the product to you. Of maybe that was coliseum of comics? I'm not sure.

I am not sure how to link my deck into this comment box but please check out my deck and leave a comment of what you think. It's called G/W fixer. Still working on name. It took top 2 for a split of 17 packs to me on this most recent FNM. And then again today for a whooping 8 packs for splitting top two ( like only 9 people showed up since it was Sunday and a pauper tourney was going on elsewhere.)

So from what I have seen you change so far, you think the discard part of your deck was the weakest point?

October 1, 2013 3:32 a.m.

mrbloo1848 says... #14

neumannj, the hand disruption part of my deck isn't the weakest point in a sense, since it is obviously very strong and is perfectly good strategy to rely on. The problem is that this format is still very very fresh (it's been only less than a week since rotation). Therefore, most people will turn to aggro decks to exploit the fact that nobody really knows what to play yet and thus control decks will be few and far between. Think about it. When RtR first came out, there weren't a whole lot of control decks around compared to right before rotation, when American and Azorius control decks almost dominated the format. As a format progresses, there will be less aggro and more midrange/control decks around. With that said, this means that my discard spells, since I will be playing against aggro decks mostly, will not have as powerful of an effect since all I will be hitting (if at all) will be small creatures or minor support spells.

TL;DR There are a lot of aggro decks around. These discard cards aren't as powerful when they're only removing tiny creatures or tiny spells compared to something like Thragtusk .

Yea I can see that. I haven't had a chance to go to FNM but I was definitely expecting W/G of course and some form of Red Aggro. If your having mana issues Prophetic Prism is a good fixer possibility

October 1, 2013 2:19 p.m.

In playtesing your deck I found the 3x Underworld Connections to be a little to slow for the mainboard. It's a good card for slower games but for aggro and faster midrange decks it's a semi dead draw

Huh. I'll try it out tonight and see how it does. I probably will end up switching back but it's worth a try. Thanks for the heads up!

I think you should add Deathpact Angel, Firemane Avenger, Guardian of the Gateless, and/or Rakdos, Lord of Riots

Was just reading through your second FNM results, and realised the RDW (the r2 one) opponent was completely foolish. You CAN'T block Blood Baron of Vizkopa with Boros Reckoner because of the protection. The rule states that the block cannot even happen, much like trying to block an unblockable creature. I just hope that the life gained from that exchange wasn't the key to your victory because if so, it may very wel have been his win.

ON a more important note, +1 for an awesome deck :D

mrbloo1848 says... #23

DoomsdayXIII, now that you mentioned what I wrote, I now remember that it was him that did the attacking that turn, since I would have otherwise pointed out that Blood Baron of Vizkopa could not be blocked by his Boros Reckoner (I never failed to do so since that was one of the main perks of the vampire). He really wanted to get rid of Blood Baron of Vizkopa . I will correct the report accordingly, thanks!

Also, the lifegain from him only counteracted the redirect of damage due to Boros Reckoner 's ability when it took 4 from Blood Baron of Vizkopa so it would have had made zero difference whatsoever, other than the fact that he could have kept the Shock AND Boros Reckoner instead of losing them both.

Thanks again!

Ah of course, always forget that annoying aspect of the Reckoner. Still, sounds like a fun match.

I've been following the progression of your deck and we have very similar lists. I was wondering why the one of for Rakdos Keyrune wouldn't you want something more consistent?
