I'm still testing with Ephara's Enlightenment on paper I really like it. but the card draw of thassa is really good. there have been times where I will play with 3, but 4 seems to be too much. I haven't playtested much of the BNG cards yet but there are a few cards I'm thinking of switching out. Once I do I will post an updated list.

What about Triton Tactics to help you double up the buff?

Ps. Great synergy and combo's in this deck

I run Triton Tactics the double targeting and untaping is too good to ignore.

Ah! Didn't even see it in there, Agreed 100% probably one of the best commons i've seen in a while, too legit.

This could have been a horrible decklist, but I would have still +1 for the descrip alone. But the deck is frikkin genius. Going to have to give this a go. Well done, Sir!

ALSO Thank you kindly for posting the rulings on Hidden Strings I was curious to know how that effect would stack up with Nivmagus Elemental

Cadmeus Thank you for the +1 and the compliment.

Meetreality88 No problem. It is kind of a pain sometimes having to sit there and explain what exactly is happening when my opponent doesn't understand the rulings and keeps calling for a judge.

I'd be interested to hear how Ephara, God of the Polis works. Also with all those Aqueous Form s have you thought about putting a few Daxos of Meletis in?

Awesome deck+description! +1Thanks

I've tried Daxos out, but he gets zapped faster the Fabled hero, and doesnt deal the damage out as well. By the end of next week I should have a secondary version of the deck for you guys to check out.

I have a deck like this one only it's r/w and I used to run Phalanx Leader but the ww in the castin cost is just too hard to rely on turn 2, esp of you were putting down a niv magus t1. Akroan Skyguard got the nod after a whole bc he gives you much needed flying defense and still is heroic. The massive counters is super nice but he can be a little annoying to get out early without shocking yourself. I love fabled hero though. Gift of Orzhova makes him damn near unstoppable. Check out my version and let me know what you think

I would drop Triton Tactics and Bioshift and add another Gods Willing and 4x Ethereal Armor which would give you 12 enchants that activate heroic, which makes Ethereal Armor very powerful.

Also, Nivmagus Elemental would lose some of its viability if you lower the instant count, but he isn't very good in a deck with only 8-10 instant/sorceries anyways. I know that he interacts well with Hidden Strings , but so does heroic.

March 20, 2014 12:45 p.m.

I don't know about taking out Bioshift ... It is pretty powerful when paired with Heroic affects. It targets two creatures and moves counters just added to the first creature to the second creature. So, for instance, you target Phalanx Leader to move counters to any other Heroic creature:

Phlanax Leader targeted (source)= +1 counter to Leader, +1 counter to second creature, +1 counter to whatever else is on the board.

Second creature is targeted (destination)= +1 counter (2 total)

Move 1, or more, counter(s) to Second Creature for a total of at least +3.

So... Instant speed, 1 blue... Bioshift becomes a blue permanent type Giant Growth for for this deck. Favored Hoplite has prevent all damage, which isn't quite as good as protection, but pretty close. So why spend a card slot on something that is already built in to 4 creatures?

JamestheJoo says... #15

Saljen I disagree. Both Triton Tactics and Bioshift target two creatures for one cost. And they protect my guys from burn, because they will throw 2 or 3 damage at something, I can bioshift or triton tactic and save my guy as well as buff them bigger. My deck isn't about auras but instants. like if you look at my side too, there are more instants. Basically what Mercurial said.

After this final weekend of testing I will have my final revised for bng decklist. there's not a lot happening different but the cards in my maybe board up there are what I am considering.

With the reliance on keeping your creatures on the board, I worry about board wipes. I might up the side board count of Swan Song to 4. (:P, too bad Supreme Verdict can't be countered.)

I like the Silence for slowing down the opponent and/or protecting an alpha strike from combat tricks.

Have you considered Rapid Hybridization for targeted creature removal? It's easier to deal with a 3/3 token than a Desecration Demon ...

March 21, 2014 9:56 a.m.

JamestheJoo says... #18

I have considered it. I haven't actually run into to many Des. Demons. The times I have I usually charm him to the top of his deck. The defensive strategy to this deck is to be patient. Take damage. you can gain it back.

March 21, 2014 12:07 p.m.

Crazy thought... What about Strionic Resonator ? Copy any triggered ability, does that mean for 2 colorless you can create a 3rd copy of Hidden Strings when run off of an unblockable Fabled Hero ? Failing having that on the board, just use it to put 2 counters on everything with a Phalanx Leader ...

I have to build a version of this I can tinker with, :). Too much Johnny in my blood.

March 25, 2014 1:38 p.m.

Have you considered Flitterstep Eidolon as an additional unblockable creature/aura for a cipher target? You don't have to rely on target also being enchanted with Aqueous Form . ...But, in order support the alternate casting cost, you may have to throw in a few Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx .

March 26, 2014 6:53 p.m.

JamestheJoo says... #21

See, that bestow of 6 is just too much. you shouldn't need more then one shock, and one of each color mana in order to play this deck and win. And because there's no other devotion happening, that's just too much mana. Hidden Strings ramps your mana so much. And also, because of all the scry happening, you will pull the cards you want. Try just playtesting my version as is. The unblockable isn't a total win condition, but it helps. And I am trying out have 4 Silence and 4 Swan Song to fight against removal and kill spells. so far they are both pretty affective.

being able to target the P. Leader with retraction helix, and then target him again, sending him back to my hand for a boost. or target my creature with R.H. then bounce his big blocker or whatever guy i hate back to his hand, then un-tap my creature with triton for an attack, or do that same procedure on their attack phase.

March 29, 2014 12:24 p.m.

Hm... Aqueous Form gets ditched then. No 'surefire' hit on combat damage. But, it's a card slot for the enchantment, and the difficulty that exists with playing those... More playable with out them?

(My tinkering version, Standard-Theros UW, Hidden Strings Resonator, I had a Medomai the Ageless that I threw in, just for kicks.)

I run a similar deck. I'd say drop 1 Nivmagus Elemental for a 4tn Phalanx Leader since thats your best target. Also put some Detention Sphere in the SB. +1.
