For one infect doesnt have enough support and new phyreexia there are no infect cards or help if your playing infect i would take out vatmother its realy bad against contro

I think Phyrexian Vatmother is underrated. When it drops, your opponent needs to find a solution and fast. Its draw back rarely costs me a game, though I do agree it needs sided out against infect/proliferating decks.
Surgical Extraction 's contribution to this deck will hopefully increase once Innistrad comes out, assuming there is going to be as much graveyard play as predicted.
I'll miss Duress and Inquisition of Kozilek , but Despise should suffice especially since Innistrad seems to be more aggro than control.

Damn man. This deck looks brutal and efficient. One of the better UB controls I've seen in some time. +1 from me.
Now about the deck: I would take out Flashfreeze from the SB and put in Distress and/or Steel Sabotage for the current meta of artifacts. These cards are the best way to deal with the Mirran Blades which are seriously annoying against UB control.

Steel Sabotage... now I like that idea. I'm not sure when I would be using Distress though.
I don't know what you mean by "Mirran Blades". Is this a reference to the three swords?

maybe take out 2 Mana Leak for 2 Corrupted Resolve . sure they have to be poisoned but its a nice hard counter for late game

With hexproof become more prevalent I think having card:Geth's Verdict replace Doom Blade and/or Go for the Throat might be a good move.

I feel like the Phyrexian Vatmother is bad in a control shell. If you're durdling around and nullifying opposing plans, getting pinged a poison each turn isn't a good thing. Blighted Agent ?

I have played this deck extensively and have found that the Phyrexian Vatmother isn't too problematic. When I drop Vatmother I am normally attacking with it every turn and trying to kill my opponent. It requires an answer within several turns and often wins me the game. I agree that it can not sit around on the battlefield and ping me turn after turn, and that rarely the case. I do run into trouble when I play other infect decks, but I sideboard it out for control or removal. Since infect decks are not commonly played in my area, the Vatmother will remain in the mainboard for now.

I love it.
It seems a bit slow on the 2 first turns but after that it must be answered pretty quickly.
+1

You might also try Viral Drake . Great idea in a control setup.

Consider Artful Dodge ? I'm not sure how many creatures you're facing on a regular basis, but Artful Dodge could save you several turns of play once you get a Phyrexian Crusader or a Phyrexian Vatmother down.

The deck does start slowly, but I've tried to compensate for that.
Despise and Virulent Wound are intended to slow my opponent down a bit. Inkmoth Nexus often comes out turn one or two if I don't have the need for a black mana source.
Mana Leak , Doom Blade , and Go for the Throat help on turn two and if I'm lucky Corrupted Resolve 's condition has been met thanks to a turn one Virulent Wound.
I do like Viral Drake , but the power of the Phyrexian Vatmother is what makes an opponent cringe.
Artful Dodge has been a card I've been thinking about for this deck. I am currently experimenting with Undying Evil and if it doesn't work out, Artful Dodge will be the next experiment.
I appreciate the suggestions.

Personally I always use Hand of the Praetors in every B/X infect deck I make. With low creature count he may not be the best here. Ichorclaw Myr is a solid early drop as well as Blighted Agent . I would also make Virulent Wound 4-of since it allows that early poison for your Corrupted Resolve

sideboard Ratchet Bomb because you are not always going to be playing against tokens
April 24, 2012 8:48 p.m.
Ratchet Bomb has been in the main board prior to Dark Ascension and the rise of tokens. Playing black/blue leaves me with few ways to deal with artifacts and enchantments. I've used for hexproof creatures and creatures that have protection from black. I know that there are times when the card isn't useful, but I am reluctant to remove it.

I know that infect isn't the best way to win games at the moment. I am hoping with the release of the third set in Scars (New Phyrexia) that infect will become more viable. If it does not, I will have to wait until fall when Zendikar is phased out and a new back enters standard. That is one of the reasons why my deck excludes cards from the Zendikar block.
