Honestly, I don't see how this deck wins you games? Mana Bloom only returns to your hand on your upkeep even if it's played with 0 counters on it. This means it can only trigger stuff once per turn. Your deck feels like a decent midrange/control deck that plays bad threats and has no true wincon.

Also on a more constructive note... You have a fair amount of color intensive spells, but with the playlets of shocks and scrylands are the 2 copies of Mana Confluence really necessary? I'd cut one or maybe just a basic for Rogue's Passage that way if you ever pop Vraska's ult it's more of a threat.

Kingzerker: It wins games quite fondly actually. The point of Mana Bloom IS to trigger just once. It triggers Constellation effects, a single Mana Bloom along with 1 Eidolon of Blossoms becomes draw power of 1 extra card for 1 mana, if with 2 then 2 extra for 1 drop with possibility of killing things when a Doomwake Giant is on board. Each person that has faced or never seen this deck always comes with the same conclusion upon just "looking" at it, but each of them have been impressed after actually facing it. There is a reason its a "combo midrange" deck. Secondly this isn't even a main deck I play, it is a fun deck until rotation hits with KoT (got tired of mono black and Selesnya Aggro/beat down), but do not get it wrong. This deck has made people rage quit and get very sour after playing against it. I do not take offense to your words, simply because I am sure you don't see how this deck actually works. The reason behind 2 Mana Confluence is to be able to make sure to have the mana, I have tested it without it and many games I really wish I did have it instead of a basic land...Thankfully I get to pull out my old apocolypse Llanowar Wastes soon to replace them. I have considered Rogue's Passage after M15 hits the board, but Vraska the Unseen is in there just because its funny. Not many people want to see it ult, so when it +1's it generally removes 1+ creatures and also can knock out other planewalkers with its -3. I do thank you for your feed on the deck by taking time to write a comment. I hope you soon understand the relevance of Mana Bloom . Again thank you for taking the time to comment.

Wow this is the coolest Constellation deck I've seen yet. +1!

I do agree with him though that you seem to be lacking bombs. Every monster you have can be chump blocked or easily removed. ScOoze can get scary big, but a solid threat like Desecration Demon might help you. And maybe a Deathrite Shaman , he seems powerful in this deck.

Thank you very much jraynor!! And a major thanks for the +1!

Yananas: I thank you for actually giving suggestions on creature base. I know certain things can be easily chumped and removed, which is why there is such a high amount of removal here as well. I have considered Desecration Demon as a 2-3 of and have been debating on putting in Deathrite Shaman . Each game I have faced so far after doing major changes to the deck seems to be getting closer to a nice range. Sadly I also sold my Desecration Demon months ago because I got tired of running mono-black devotion (sold most the deck). Currently I do like how it runs and actually have had matches like Mono-Black Devotion that have a lot of removal and beat them quite often thanks to my own removal package. Desecration Demon is an amazing threat but is also easily removed in most decks, Deathrite Shaman is lovely and have considered running 3 in place of the Sylvan Caryatid . I have even considered replacing Courser of Kruphix . but the issue with that is..It is awesome! If you have any ideas on what to replace what with, that would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I'm not sold on Primeval Bounty . It looks like the deck tries to win by giving your rather small dudes an open field and smash away. Bounty doesn't seem to contribute to your plan, and has a very high cost. I'd suggest taking them out and adding in two Deathrite Shaman instead. Pulls your curve down, your 1-slot is better occupied, and Shaman will be very relevant as ramp, life gain and reach.

Yananas: I will test it out and see how it plays out with Deathrite Shaman

Master of the Feast over Doomwake Giant . Better and earlier enchantment threat with +1 power and evasion. While it doesn't help against aggro like the Giant, it's better in most matchups. Besides, the Giant might not even hit the board until it's too late against efficient aggro decks. You'll also negate the card advantage it gives your opponent with your various removal spells.

Speaking of removal, Brain Maggot is like Thoughtseize on an enchantment stick. Negates your opponents card advantage generated by the Master if you put him in too. I'd slide it in over Caryatid, cause again, Master is cheaper than DW Giant so the ramp isn't necessary. Plus you've got enough removal to ignore the loss of the mana plant's blocking.

Hope these count as "actual suggestions". Unfortunately, M15 printed the worst card you could ever play against in Back to Nature . Good luck with your deck.

Kingzerker: Thank you for suggestions. I have considered Master of the Feast and it was in the first printing of this deck. May add him back on the basis of now I run more removal spells. Brain Maggot is something I debated about.

Back to Nature is the reason I decided to make this just a fun deck until rotation, because I loved the Constellation mechanic.

What I meant by "actual suggestions", is very few people name cards to help improve the deck and say why, I have considered your Rogue's Passage Idea from earlier. You gave nice feedback. Thank you and good luck with your decks as well.

Brain Maggot > thoughtseize in this kind of EoB build. It can replace DW giant without you losing any enchantments when in control matches.

Fate Unraveler should be well considered for control matches since you have enough MB removal to handle most creature based strategies. You should gear your SB towards control threat neutralisation.

TEGHabibird: I was actually thinking of removing Duress and 1 Polukranos, World Eater for 4 Brain Maggot in sideboard to go along with Thoughtseize for control matches. What do you think of that?

As for Fate Unraveler , I want to abuse the Hag so badly lol. I want to make a Master of the Feast + Fate Unraveler combo deck for next standard after rotation. With Sign in Blood back in, may even consider making a mono black or black/x draw/discard deck with Waste Not .

Let me know what you think about the sideboard change. :D

TEGHabibird says... #13

Didn't realize you had duress. I'd definitely swap out duress for brain maggot.

I'd keep the extra polukranos, as he destroys aggro, but I'd remove both whips (what's it for anyway) and put the 4th brain maggot and an extra reaper who destroys midrange.

Evolving wilds is very very very very bad. If you have urborg it's a swamp, sure, but most of the time it's a guild gate that only taps for one colour.

Maybe swap for a guildgate (which will always tap for G or B) of even add either

  • the other 2 mutavault for a little more aggression

  • Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx because you have enough devotion to at least break even.

July 28, 2014 6:22 p.m.

BlueEyes says... #15

Evolving Wilds is to clean(thin) out the deck as well as fogger for Deathrite Shaman in those rare situations. 6 basics is very rare to come out all at once in my hand, and even the shuffling effect is useful in times where Courser of Kruphix is showing just tons of land and no good spell (also can cause a double life gain trigger from double land drop).

Mutavault : Yes its for more aggressive situations, but also control decks who board wipe a ton and I have no Golgari Charm

I have considered Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx , but don't really see me using it all that often.

Kingzerker says... #16

You're spot on about Evolving Wilds . Deck thinning, plus the interactions it has w/DRS and Courser are sweet tech! But you're so heavy on removal and still aren't mainboarding any disruption. Brain Maggot !!! Pleeeeeease!? Hahahaha

Haha okay Kingzerker, I will look for a spot to place some Brain Maggot :D

Have you fought a mono black aggro deck?

August 1, 2014 12:30 p.m.

BlueEyes says... #19

Yeah, I have Xirius, Golgari Charm removes the early threats quickly and the bigger threats like Herald of Torment and some cases Master of the Feast are just shot down with removal. I have had cases during playtesting where I had no Golgari Charm , but the blocks from Sylvan Caryatid and Courser of Kruphix blocked and healed me easily until I shot off a Doomwake Giant . This deck is very Anti-Aggro coordinated, which is why I like it.

Why thank you daemon_panda :) I love constellation since I saw it, helped me settle back into standard. Been trying to make it work and this seems to be working great so far against my meta :) Hope you enjoy it and I hope you get combos off like a boss too!

Glad to see Deathrite Shaman is pulling his weight, and good job on the 4-0!

Back to deck related business: How is Pharika holding up? I've played her in a Junk constellation of my own, and I found her to be dissapointing, most of the time. Also, isn't 4 Doomwake Giant a bit much? 5CMC is a bit steep, and as your curve topper playing 4 seems like a drag in the early game. I've playtested this list a bit, and almost every opening hand had a Giant, some had 2. Ofcourse, without a live opponent you can't assess everything perfectly, but I figured it'd only be really relevant against aggro. As such, I think it's better in the SB.

I think I'd take -1 Pharika, -2 Giant to add 3 Elvish Mystic maybe? Maybe Thoughtseize ? Not too sure on this, but curving out seems important in this deck, and the 1-slot is kinda lacking now.

I think the thinning effect of Evolving Wilds isn't all that relevant, and it will have you a land behind for one turn. If you don't have any 1-drops that's fine T1, but if you do, you just curve out less beautifully, and that could cost you a game. I do admit the synergy with DRS is decent, but I think even basics would be better, as you don't seem to have much color issues.

I'm just shouting ideas though. You made a very nice deck, so keep to your own playstyle by all means!

Yananas: Thank You!

Deathrite Shaman : defintally is pulling is weight and it makes me very happy! Was a great a suggestion!

Doomwake Giant : I live in Dallas, where almost everyone plays Aggro/midrange. This is the only reason I decided to have it mainboarded, but even against big creatures like Desecration Demon and Stormbreath Dragon this card has pulled its weight on taking them down easily and helped rid of mana dorks to slow them down for longer period of time along with my small removal pool and holding big removal for the biggies. (example: Golgari Charm for the all the 1 toughness dorks))

Pharika, God of Affliction : I cannot remove this card, its a one of yes, but anytime it was out those snakes+triggers were such an intense usefulness.

Elvish Mystic : Was in the original compensation of this deck actually, and it rarely did anything. So i removed it long time ago :(, made me kinda sad to remove it.

Thoughtseize : I keep it in the sideboard currently until rotation hits honestly, once it hits, then it will be mainboarded because of easier decisions unless Khans of Tarkir is just ridiculous good removal. I know the 1 slot is mostly empty, but thats actually because of Evolving Wilds and Temple of Malady ..Which brings me too...

Evolving Wilds : As you also said yes its a great t1, but so far in each game, it has been an AMAZING lategame..Especially with Courser of Kruphix seeing it on top or just having it in hand. 80% of the time I have actually had double Courser of Kruphix out then gained 4 life due to double land trigger from Evolving Wilds ! Plus! Because Evolving Wilds is a land afterall. Deathrite Shaman sometimes helps me ramp out that extra mana! (which i am glad you noticed!) But the other main reason I enjoy Evolving Wilds , is it helps stop mana flooding and some cases mana screwing, just because of the shuffle. It is a wild card, but I feel it will better once Shock Lands are removed from standard for two-color decks. I have even considered removing Llanowar Wastes for basics until rotation. Also many people play Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth which just turns (as well as myself) that turns Evolving Wilds into a swamp that has the ability to just freely shuffle a bad top deck (seen by Courser of Kruphix ) or just feel a shuffle is needed to fix the deck.

I enjoy your ideas, and some of them I am adding after rotation! I Thank you very VERY much for taking the time to comment and suggest some great ideas and feedback! I always enjoy hearing peoples ideas and their play style! So many people have such great ideas, I hope more come!
