Extra_Krispyyy Read the Bones is my fill in for sign in blood as I am of the opinion that 2 mana and 2 life is too damn much for 1 card when I run Underworld Connections . As far as Lifebane Zombie I like looking at my opponents hand and typically demands a response. I'm kind of hurting in 3 drops so you if you have any suggestions by all means.

Lifebane Zombie at 3 power and intimidate.. I dont see it as worthless at all.especially with liliana and all of your swamps..

vintr that's exactly how I feel, he can typically kill most planeswalkers in 2 turns, or dish out a beating. I'd much rather have a players hate spent on him than on Desecration Demon and if you use Whip of Erebos on him I can look at my opponent's hand again.

Lord of the Void might be fun. I run one in my mono-black deck and when I get him out, he absolutely wrecks.

+1 i like the deck. mine is similar, but still a work in progress. Dream Evil
those desecration demons are brutal at turns 4 and 5!!

vintr I'm going to weep uncontrollably when Desecration Demon rotates out, he does sooooo much work and demands a response immediately.
canterlotguardian I really want to proxy and try him, I've always liked him and now that the format can be a bit slower I like the idea of running maybe 1-2.

...you removed your comment before I could see it. lol

canterlotguardian I thought it was going to let me pick which ones to remove :( . What I said was I have always been curious about Lord of the Void and given that theros is a slower set unless you can really ramp ( I'm not that sold on Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx outside of mono-colored decks ), he is a very viable late game option. I want to proxy him in and try him.

@scizzler nope. it removes all comments since the last update in which you cleared comments. I don't even run Nykthos in my mono-black deck; I just run 23 Swamps which is surprisingly the most effective build that I've tried.

I like this and considered MBC for standard myself.
On a side note: there are 5x Thoughtseize listed.

fluffybunnypants that was a typo, thanks for catching it :)

i have a similar deck but i am also using Dark Prophecy for that added draw, and extra devotion. Also Pharika's Cure is really good for some early spot removal.

When you do an update it doesn't delete the comments it just hides them, if you click the blue link just under where it says updates, the (THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVE -- Oct. 3, 2013) part, you'll see all of the comments that were hidden when you did the update.

i built a deck for fnm 11 oct 13 that was very similar to this thanks for the great idea mine went 4 and 1. Right now i cant remember the deck that i lost to but i know that the reason was because of the worst mana drought this side of 2010.
October 15, 2013 3:33 p.m.
jarrod.hanson this literally made my day.. I have yet to be able to play it at an FNM because of work, traveling, etc so it's exciting to hear people are having great success with similar builds. Anyway, glad to hear my friend, have a beer on me and thanks for dropping by and letting me know!

Question 1: why are Nightveil Specter and Lifebane Zombie in the wrong spots? (Unless your meta is full of G/W aggro then i'd understand)
Qusetion 2: have you thought about using Hythonia the Cruel (yes I know a really big cost on both effects, but is worth it in my opinion), Nightmare , Necropolis Regent , or Sanguine Bond ?
October 17, 2013 10:22 a.m.
Answer 1: Lifebane Zombie is typically a mb choice for almost all mono-black control decks seeing as not only is intimidate a real factor, but looking at someone's hand is always a good thing especially if you are sitting on a Thoughtseize or are wondering on potential responses to your moves. Nightveil Specter is great, but only exiling one card from the top of your opponents deck you aren't going to play isn't as big of a deal.
Answer 2: I've run her, I wasn't super impressed, I prefer Abhorrent Overlord
in that if you have to fish him out of your graveyard he can do work for you without a separate mana cost.

Fair enough, I'm more of a midrange or aggro player control is till a bit iffy for me, so I see where you're going with the Zombie. I just personally don't like the Overlord that much is all. Your deck though XD
October 17, 2013 10:43 a.m.
firerunner36 I appreciate the input and the upvote, and I'm kind of there with you on the overlord, but the ability proccing when he hits the battlefield is nice especially when you fish him out of your gy with whip or Rescue from the Underworld so he gets the start. I'm just praying for a board wipe in the next section of this block or at least a better reason to mana ramp like the good ole days.
October 17, 2013 11:04 a.m.
Question. Why no Nightveil Specter in here? it adds triple black to the devotion and it's not like mana is such a problem with this.
October 21, 2013 10:23 a.m.
kyle_mit I answered something similar a few posts back. Typically, losing the 1 devotion is worth looking at your opponents hand and having a creature with intimidate that will guaranteed garner a response from your opponent. If you have any more questions I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability :D

I would put Erebos, God of the Dead in for your Sign in Blood replacement, and im not big on Lifebane Zombie or any other color hate cards being main boarded because he is worthless against anything but green/white decks.
