I've been waiting to see a Selesnya flavored heroic deck in standard. Have you done any testing?

Fantastic_Mr_King, just play tests so far. Got the actual cards like 2 hours ago :D Don't know how well it will work in competitive scene but I'm certain it will rock our casual games.

Hmmm... Once you start playing competitively I'd love to hear how your matches go. How's testing? Worse or better than you have hoped?

Lolz! Nice! I don't know how NOT to play competitively. I losing is in the top 5 things I hate most in life. Lol.

By that I mean that I don't go to tournaments. I just like to play home games with my friends.

I run a very similar deck. Been tweaking it for a while, consistently top 8 at FNM, not yet top 3.

Latest incarnation has Seeker of the Way, Akroan Skyguard, and Dawnbringer Charioteers instead of the outlast creatures. Ranger's Guile helps protect the engine. Awaken the Bear provides trample.

This deck works really well. It is definitely aggro, but also definitely has issues against heavy removal decks. My Aegis of the Gods is sideboard against burn decks.

Thanks songmanrob. After couple of runs that I played I think I'll remove 1 Hero of Leina Tower + Archetype of Courage and add 2 x Ranger's Guile so there would be a better creature-instant balance.

im getting this but decrease Reap What Is Sown, Hardened Scales and Solidarity of Heroes with some Glimpse the Sun God and Ordeal of Heliod otherwise this seem like it would last well in FNM wish me luck

13digits, What I have tested, Hardened Scales and Solidarity of Heroes are the best cards to have in heroic deck. What comes to the latter one, remember: heroic ability triggers first, then you get to double the counters. If you have Hardened Scales, it will trigger before the doubling too. With these cards I had 30+/30+ soldier with protection from selected color in T4. Glimpse the Sun God doesn't make any sense and Ordeal of Heliod works better in Azorius heroic aura decks. But yeah, that's just my opinion.

yah was making an azorius and a selesnia version of heroics because its fun...in the azorius deck i wanted Glimpse the Sun God to combo with Battlefield Thaumaturge to trigger both heroic ability of any creature i got or to let in maybe 10 creature at the same time if i get the combo right:

Abzan Battle Priest + Battlefield Thaumaturge + Phalanx Leader + 2 other heroic creature on field, cast Launch the Fleet to my creature, then cast Glimpse the Sun God to enemy creature/s, then swing with all you got!! with Battlefield Thaumaturge you cast both launch and glimpse for one mana and with Abzan Battle Priest you gain life

but this combo will begin to happen in turn 6/7 and you have to get thaumaturge around turn 4/5 to cast cheap strive spells... also if you got another glimpse you can cast it to your creatures after combat to trigger heroic again... if you have Icy Blast instead of glimpse, im sure your opponent's creature would stay tapped since one of your heroic creature probably has 4 or up power by turn 6/7... but this is all very situational, and since RTR rotated out of standard, the mana is kinda hard to fix without spending more money(temples and mana confluence are too expensive)...

but i get what you mean about glimpse not working in this deck since it is actually stupid without battlefield thaumaturge... but i thought of having it anyway coz i thought of using it to trigger heroic of all the creature i have for a very cheap price... Icy Blast is probably to use against my opponent better but yah, hope you get what i mean

i forgot to ask this but what do you got if you get a mirror match? how should you deal with another heroic based deck? i've been struggling about that part and the only think i could think of is Planar Cleansing but that's m14

please 13digits, when you comment with card names that clearly aren't suggestions, don't tag them as suggestions. I welcome chatting and thinking of strategies (and proper suggestions even more) but that kind of unnecessary tagging is kind of... annoying. No offence.

But what comes to your comments: now that you mentioned it, Glimpse the Sun God makes much more sense. Though, even then, with the help of Battlefield Thaumaturge, I would not personally use it because it will only slow you down. Heroic decks are meant to be fast.

To be honest, I'm not sure what to do against other Heroic decks. That is kind of why I like heroic, there is not that much you can do against it in standard, other than control decks but on the other hand that doesn't help us with our heroics. Since your deck has blue in it, I would most likely add Polymorphist's Jest to the sideboard (or in the actual deck). Then target opponent with it after he has declared his attack and kill those big bastards off. But now that I thnk about it, I'm not 100% sure would those creatures still have their counters after that spell or be just plain 1/1 frogs.

yeah my bad :/ i don't usually comment on deck techs of others but heroic decks are really interesting so apologies for the mishap on my side since im pretty new to the site(i rarely go here so that would explain why i didnt knew/read before i started clicking)... anyways my idea for azorius version is meant to go as an engine deck so that explains the slowness but i agree... it is pretty slow and with out RTR the engine will just stall and die a tragic death (i'll run it on modern someday)

on the Polymorphist's Jest idea, i think you would trigger the heroic first then the card would ressolve...

Phalanx Leader would get the counter then turn into frog

so yeah, the ability would just be useless, unless it gets hexproof like Battlefield Thaumaturge i think

also ever thought of adding Tuskguard Captain and/or Launch the Fleet? trample seems perfect for creature that will get bigger and bigger, and also your opponent would have more worries on blocking... and launch would seem like a perfect card for this

13digits no problem :)

Polymorphist's Jest targets the player, not the actual creatures so heroic doesn't trigger. That I'm sure of. What I meant was, for example if there is a creature with 2 +1/+1 counters already, would he be after Polymorphist's Jest 1/1 frog or 3/3 frog until end of turn.

At this point you could have added the tags to Tuskguard Captain and Launch the Fleet because those were your actual suggestions :) But yeah, I had Launch the Fleet but after some test runs I though any of the instants there were more useful. Tuskguard Captain could work. Though, there is already many instants that give protection from color (so basically makes then unblockable). I have to see how well this will work against actual players.
