I paid about 20$ for everything including what people suggested in the comments. And around 40$ for the hallowed fountains

@wwweee That's what I try to accomplish with my decks, I do not want to invest 200$ in these cards that will have no value in 3 years. I think its crazy when I see some of the decks on here and how much they cost lol.

@J_Albor Sweet, the nice thing is that the shock lands will at least retain there value over time. Glad you got it for soo cheap :).

yeah it wasn't that much, and the lands will retain the value which is good! btw, i featured the deck with one of my tokens, but i have no idea how it really works lol, it was up on the ad thing for like a minute. maybe they switch out and come back, i don't know lol

I would like to know some good ideas for the sideboard.
So far I replaced:
Triton Tactics for Dauntless Onslaught and Aqueous Form for Fate Foretold against Control Deck
Elite Arcanist + Bident of Thassa for Setessan Battle Priest against Aggro Decks.

Didn't like Dauntless Onslaught in action that much but I had no better ideas then, If my opponent had already seen this card once, he didn't let me play it again.

Very keen to try out this deck at Game Day this weekend! For Sideboarding I'm going to use Fiendslayer Paladin vs mono red decks, I'm thinking at least 2 but may go up to 4.

Also agree that Elite Arcanist and Bident of Thassa are too slow vs aggro, maybe even Daxos of Meletis so they'll likely come out in that match-up.

Control is what worries me the most, what do you guys have planned in that regard, would it be mainly focused around making the deck even faster (if possible?)

how about Fate Foretold ? would be pretty sick on Battlewise Hoplite , you could scry before you draw the card :D

And you know eventually he is going to die...so yeah draw another card!! :D

Should side in some Celestial Flare and some Blind Obedience . Blind obedience could dramatically increase your game against aggro decks and it boosts your etherial armor. Also maybe cut 1 gods willing for Heliod, God of the Sun giving vigilance to all your troops and potentially putting out 2/1 enchant creatures at instant speed could be good for multiple reasons. +1 for style. I have been trying to put together a similar deck but i think im gonna scrap it and rip off this one.

What are peoples thoughts on Azorius Charm ? Is the fact that it doesn't have any direct target (to trigger heroic) enough for it not to make the deck? The creature bounce and versatility to draw or gain life seems valid against midrange decks, particularly Gruul? (please correct me if I'm wrong, i'm still learning :P)

@Termit1989 Yea I'll update the side board soon, with the increased interest in this deck over the last day, I'm going to try hard to get a sideboard with the perfect cards for this deck.

@jimaejackel Fate Foretold was definatly considered at the start when I made this deck, I just don't like its CMC, Since I have 14 cards with CMC 2, its likely it wouldn't be played over other cards like Hidden Strings or Phalanx Leader . The thing is, you often are swinging for fatal before you need the card draw, so I would much rather play Ordeal of Thassa to use when I have a creature with 2 or more counters.

@Felixlives I've already explain why I don't use Blind Obedience (Comment #13), but I can defiantly add Celestial Flare as a sideboard, I like the card alot, but not enough to have it mainboard. As for Heliod, God of the Sun Vigilance is not need at all in this deck, play with Hidden Strings + Triton Tactics + Aqueous Form I can honestly say, I've never had to worry about being tapped. As for the 2/1, thats kinda weak for what is considered late game in this deck.

@TheDiv Azorius Charm has been side boarded more than once, its a utility more than anything. I'll update the sideboard with it again. it shouldn't be main board though, the focus as you did say yourself is heroic and it just doesn't have any good synergy with the heroic cards. Still good card though.

Thanks guys for your feedback :).

I like the deck but I would make a few changes.

-1 Aqueous Form , -1 Bident of Thassa , and -1 Gods Willing for +3 Ordeal of Thassa which should help you with digging forr the lands or other cards you may need.

In the sideboard I would go with -3 Ordeal of Thassa (obviously moving to mainboard) and -3 Render Silent for +3 Brave the Elements and +3 Ordeal of Heliod . The first should help with mono colored decks and against Anger of the Gods , while the second will help you against aggro decks, because suddenly having to deal with another 10 life can wreck their day.

Termit89 says... #12

@firerunner36 I have to disagree with your suggestions.
Ordeal of Thassa used on creature with already 2-3 counters will give you 2 extra cards, after this it will no longer count for Ethereal Armor same go for Ordeal of Heliod .
Brave the Elements doesnt trigger heroic ability. In my past games with this deck I rarely had 3 or more creatures on the table at the same time, so more universal Triton Tactics is a sufficient answer to Anger of the Gods . It gives my creatures 0/+3 and automatically extra counters +1/+1 from heroic, making them immune to such tricks.
Ordeal of Heliod extra life may be good but there are better cards like Azorius Charm or Swift Justice eventually Riot Control

Love this Deck! Plus +1. Ever thought about adding in a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx or two to help push more mana for Elite Arcanist combo? Can be pumped up with Hidden Strings .

@firerunner36 Basically what Termit1989 said. (Post #37), Although I have thought about Ordeal of Heliod , I don't believe life gain should be main boarded in this deck, this deck is very fast and life gain just extends the length of a game that doesn't need extending, if life was an issue in against an opponent, then I would use Azorius Charm to give my current creatures, probably 2 on the field, life link and gain likely more than 10 life. If I don't need to gain life in the match than I can always top deck one of the opponents creatures.

Also as for Render Silent that is for people playing B/U/R control/burn/ etc, it can defiantly help as a 3 cost Counterspell + Silence .

@Termit1989 I like Swift Justice but the reason why I didn't sideboard it is that I often already have Ethereal Armor , or Aqueous Form so having that first strike doesnt help very often. The main reason though is that Azorius Charm is so much more of a utility that has other uses. Everything else you said. I would not argue with. spot on.

@Shoken808 Yes I have considered it, keep in mind this deck is supposed to be budget and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is a 10$+ card. Not only that but in this deck you need to have 2 Plains on turn 2. (most of the time), Having Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx in hand isn't going to produce Plains turn 2 and will lower your odds of getting 2 Plains . It is a very nice card that I use in my other decks, but this one with a Average CMC of 1.7 doesnt need it. In your version feel free to but it in Because I don't disagree that it has its uses in this deck, but as for main and sideboard, I can't use it.

Thanks guys for the support!

so many options!!!!!!!!o_O

October 15, 2013 10:31 p.m.

I_H8_U_M8 says... #17

@vanyamil sorry but that 3 CMC for Wingsteed Rider and the bad heroic effect is not a good choice for this deck that needs to achieve a 4-5 turn win. I just don't think its a good fit. Its a 2/2 for 3 mana, On top of that, it takes one target just to get it to the 3/3 for 3 mana that the card would need to have even a chance of being considered.

+1, this is just scary. YOU CAN'T KILL THEM!

October 16, 2013 3:27 p.m.

jsansoldo says... #19

Brave the Elements might not be a targeted spell, but it can protect you from Anger of the Gods and Supreme Verdict . And it can make your finishing blow unblockable for all your babies at once.

It didnt even make to the sideboard?

yak300 says... #20

I love this deck! +1First I was sceptical not using red as the second color, but you made me change my mind.

@ jsansoldo

Brave the Elements does not protect creatures from Boardwipes like Supreme Verdict as they do not target the creatures specifically. Also protection does not prevent the creatures being destroyed in this case. For Anger of the Gods it works only because the damage is prevented due to protection from red.

October 16, 2013 5:11 p.m.

I_H8_U_M8 says... #21

@MinscAndBoo Thanks for the compliment, It is a very hard deck to deal with if you don't have allot of early burn, kill spells and hand returns. This deck often destroys green and other white decks. With red burn or blue black control you may have to sideboard against a 200$+ deck.

@jsansoldo Anger of the Gods is something I never have to worry about. I have Favored Hoplite which prevents all damage when I target it, Gods Willing which gives protection from x color, then I can scry 1, lastly Triton Tactics two creatures get +0/3 And I untap them. No worries. Brave the Elements won't be side boarded sorry.

@yak300 Thanks, W/U is my favourite color for this set, Let me know how the deck goes if you decide to build it!

October 16, 2013 8:28 p.m.

vanyamil says... #22

A general question : does Gods Willing protect from multicolored spells? Because you counter only one color of the multiple, no?

October 16, 2013 10:37 p.m.

I_H8_U_M8 says... #23

@vanyamil as long as the card has that color, then it is protected from that card. Keep in mind, lands are colorless along with the majority of artifacts. Also protection from color won't protect against a spell without any targets and without damage. For example Planar Cleansing .

fatalshoot says... #24

I want to play with this deck with 4 Lifelin Azorius Charm which cards should I remove?

October 16, 2013 11:11 p.m.

I_H8_U_M8 says... #25

@fatalshoot Well that is dependent of your opponent, For example is your playing against mono red burn you would maybe side 1x Aqueous Form because he likely wont be blocking with anything and 2x Daxos of Meletis because he dies from a simple shock. 1x Artisan of Forms because there isn't very much to clone.

As a player you will have to adapt to your situation, having x4 Azorius Charm constantly might not be the best idea though.
